For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Could I please have some very strong hellfire-averting vibes? I want to try to sort out a situation involving my mother, grandmother, uncle and his new girlfriend. Without bloodshed. Help!!

They are not coming here. Uncle (with possibly controversial new girlfriend) is visiting grandmother for first time in 3 years or so. Mother in v bad state due to stress of caring for grandmother anyway, furious that uncle not been inn touch with her, furious that uncle not bringing things that grandmother has been pining for, like old photos. Am hoping I can stop mother from going or there may be actual screaming and I fear if all is heavy and awful that uncle will not visit for another 3 years. And he should be doing more but screaming at him won't help because he is a slitherer-outer. And my mother does need a bloody good break. Oh dear it is very complicated.
Sorry

No I have to do it or things will be worse. Anyway, should be fine. Mother is staying at home, I asked grandmother if we would be an asset or a hindrance as replacement for mother, and she said we would be a lovely distractiuon. Her room is miniscule thpough, and hot, so will have to exercise dcs first,.
Oh, and first we are meetuing up with my sort of step grandmother at an exhibition about toys.

pinkspottywellies · 28/12/2008 12:34

Oh my God. I've been away so long that I had an empty Threads I'm On page and had to wander round on my own trying to find you I did actually pop in on Friday and started reading but my sis came and said she'd like to go on the laptop after me, then stood looking over my shoulder so I farked off.

Had an exhausting week at my mum's and am really glad to be home. I'm in bed with the laptop and not planning on moving any time soon. Might have to text DH in a minute to bring me some lunch

I've just seen the thread about the moldie row being in the paper - I missed the whole thing really. The ante-natal thread I'm on has a private facebook group though. Do you think people would be as upset Sorry is it bad form to talk about it?

Anyway. Today's fruit count - chocolate orange [proud]

Parumpapumfumf · 28/12/2008 13:01

Hello all. My boys are surgically attacthed to the Wii and won't be shifted. I am cold and feel irritatetd by the slovenliness of my house.

We are trying to persuade the boys that we could go and have a bbq by the reservoir and toast marshmallows. But it is so grey and flat and cold that I'm having trouble convincing myself

littlerach · 28/12/2008 13:22

Gosh, yes, the untidiness is starting to drive me crazzzeee.

Veg lasagne.
Raisins.

Hi Pink!

SuperBunny · 28/12/2008 16:28

Oh Toot, hope visit goes well.

Pink, I am appalled that you are part of an exclusive group on FB. I don't think I can talk to you any more.

Toasting marshmallows sounds quite tempting.

Get well soon Franny

House a tip, no F&V and much to do.

Parumpapumfumf · 28/12/2008 16:48

OsmosisFaLaLaLaLa · 28/12/2008 17:01

bleurgh. need a colonic voucher. or stomach pumping session or something. I have eaten nothing but health for 2 days and still feel sluggish / spotty / greasy / fat / full of meat and cheese etc.

Roll on NYE

TooT may be calling on me later, hopefully I will be able to stay off the gin till then.... Given that I still have no kitchen and most of my house is in darkness and the tv is broken it's doubtful.

[grumpy detoxing emoticon]

everyone ok?

SuperBunny · 28/12/2008 17:21

Oh, how exciting OB.

Sorry you're feeling sluggish and greasy. I am too and I haven't even had any meat or cheese.

OsmosisFaLaLaLaLa · 28/12/2008 17:27

Hi SB, i was just having a moan. As per.

DD is being hilarious (which she probably is most of the time) which is making me feel better. And I have given up resisting gin. Could be worse, could be beer.

I managed to get a couple of hours revision done today too, and some of it made sense!!!

FrannyandZooey · 28/12/2008 17:29

V good idea for toys on the bouncy chair. He's enormous, Franny!

stuffitllama · 28/12/2008 17:44

you are all excellent eating so much veg while in the midst of illness and dark houses and revision

am doing about six a day but strangely it's gone down here, I thought it would go up

children are fine but I am currently struggling with perverse desire to see 13 y o ds1 in bed at 7.30

beware of growing children they steal your time and turn your evenings into fretful faffing until they disappear

tonight did Cluedo, Christmas bingo and Categorically Speaking until 9 o clock

lovely mad photo franny

OsmosisFaLaLaLaLa · 28/12/2008 17:59

Yay stuffit! I know what you mean about bedtime... SD's (9) mother lets her stay up till ridiculous o'clock in the holidays.... Not good. I end up dabbing at imaginary greasy streaks on the dining room table with a sponge for hours on end until she eventually loses her bedtime battle with DH. God it's tedious. I have mad an enormous carrot and artichoke soup, it is making farting noises on the hob... funny, i tought it only did that once consumed

stuffitllama · 28/12/2008 18:03

hi ob how's the studying?
we had a very farty Christmas unfortunately went to someone else's house for Christmas dinner it was lovely but one does want to be back home by six I feel

OsmosisFaLaLaLaLa · 28/12/2008 18:16

studying schmudying. If they won't give my essays back, I won't learn anyfink.

Uh... It's a bit of a nonsense atm. we are supposed to be revising but we get to see the exam papers 2 weeks before the exams, which makes it almost pointless revising until then. I have been reading about polypeptide chains. It is as exciting as it sounds

How are things with you?

It's boot Camp in January for me, bee.

OB, why do you get to see the exam papers? Does that not defeat the point of it being an exam?

DS was going to bed at 5 last week. It meant I felt ready for bed by 9 or 10 so I wasn't up til after midnight. I doubt 5pm bedtimes will last though.
