For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Sounds lovely, FK.

Toot, that is nothing! Really, there is barely any booze in that.

Guadalupe · 27/12/2008 20:31

You got the yeast right then?

FrayedKnot · 27/12/2008 20:32

Just realised only f&v consumption today was bubble & squeak

I am going forthwith to raid my Mum's fruit bowl.

I wouldn;t worry overly about the shandy but prefer it not to be repeated, probably.

Guadalupe · 27/12/2008 20:33

Do you drink plenty of water, SB? Get enough sleep?

Guadalupe · 27/12/2008 20:33

My cabbage and peas were bubble and queak too, FK.

TooTickyDoves · 27/12/2008 20:34

That's okay then.

Bunny, how are you?

SuperBunny · 27/12/2008 20:37

No and No, guad. Can fix the water problem. I have resolved to drink plenty more.

SuperBunny · 27/12/2008 20:37

I'm ok Toot

Guadalupe · 27/12/2008 20:41

Oh, sorry, is it you that has insomnia? Didn't mean to be insensitive. I have suffered badly with that in the past.

I don't drink enough water either. My skin is okay but I have big bags under my eyes. And a coldsore atm. Looks like I have a rice krispie stuck on my mouth.

SuperBunny · 27/12/2008 20:43

Yes, I have insomnia. It's not bad at the moment (but that's because I take melatonin). I really want to get it sorted but I don't know how and my dr likes to throw drugs at me which I'd rather avoid. I don't think they will fix the problem.

Sorry about your rice crispie!

Guadalupe · 27/12/2008 20:46

I don't think you can get that here? I used to work for an artist when I suffered and he used to talk about his melatonin like it was gold dust. Wouldn't give me any to try though. I just had temazepan.

I have since done a lot better with herbal remedies, mixes of st johns wort and velarian and other stuff. Very low levels of it, improved over time.

TooTickyDoves · 27/12/2008 20:57

That's okay then.

Bunny, how are you?

TooTickyDoves · 27/12/2008 20:59

Sorry

TooTickyDoves · 27/12/2008 21:00

Oh, I now have to take ibuprofen
I should sleep well anyway.

SuperBunny · 27/12/2008 21:06

You can buy melatonin in Boots here so it's easy to get hold of. Would prefer herbal remedies but am hoping to get this whole thing sorted this year [setting goals a bit too high]

Can we have a new thread soon? This is taking forever to load.

SuperBunny · 27/12/2008 21:15

I have to go to a pot luck tomorrow - shall I take Baileys Butterscotch cookies or make a Yule Log?

It's going to take me 2 hours to get their, walking quite a way and 2 trains and I am not sure a Yule log will be up to that. But cookies seem a bit of a paltry offering.

SuperBunny · 27/12/2008 21:16

*there, not their

SuperBunny · 27/12/2008 22:35

Where are you all? I neeeeed help!

We need a Happea new year thread. My computer is not coping with this one.

FrannyandZooey · 27/12/2008 22:37

come on then, offer up your suggestions for titles

thanks everyone for being nice about boys
please say if gets dull having to constantly admire them but it does make up slightly for being constantly sleep deprived, lardy and covered in stretch marks

FrannyandZooey · 27/12/2008 22:38

oh cookies i would think

is it too early to do a new year thread?

OP posts:
SuperBunny · 27/12/2008 22:46

Ok, cookies are easier so I will go with those. Thanks

Boys are lovely and I am nosey so I am always happy to admire.

TooTickyDoves · 27/12/2008 23:13

Oh yes cookies. Do the hassleistyic time-consuming things for yourself, easy stuff for taking places.

Franny, they are gorgeous. The puic you sent me is by my tea and they smile at me whilke the kettle boils. And dd2 likes to remember the bed-bouncing

Goodness it is COLD!

Guadalupe · 27/12/2008 23:21

In Boots? Well, this was 10 years ago so maybe they weren't available then. He ordered his from the states anyway.

How funny hearing you say pot luck. A Californian girl on my MA found it hysterical that I didn't know what a pot luck was, and laughed even more when I said I had heard that called a pool-in but that I usually called it a dinner where everyone brought something and we all shared. I don't remember abbreviating it, I think we mostly said lets have dinner and all bring something.

Sorry for blithering.

It is cold isn't it? Dh is supposedly watching the funniest ever episode oof The Young Ones but he hasn't laughed much yet.

SuperBunny · 27/12/2008 23:35

I meant in our equivalent of Boots. I missed out the important words!

I forget that we don't have a word for pot-luck. People always at me when I say we call it a dinner where everybody brings something and we all share.

Not cold here. But raining and I have to go down the road to feed friend's cat.

SuperBunny · 27/12/2008 23:38

2 apples
banana
raisins
cranberries

Five. And no more today. Or tomorrow as I have no fruit. Will go shopping on Monday.
