For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2008 14:29

really cool name fmf
i still didn't get around to a christmas name

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2008 14:30

oops the camembert censorship went wrong

OP posts:
TooTickyDoves · 24/12/2008 14:43

It's no use trying to hide it, I can smell your stinky camembert from here

Glad cards arrived I had fun playing with bits of card and felt and wool and stuff.

Yeast issue still not sorted. I don't want it go be heavy or over yeasty
And I know you don't multiply yeast in the same way as other ingredients but I don't know the rules

TinyWhiteFeather · 24/12/2008 14:52

Hello!

I got out for my run. It was lovely, Lots of people on 'holiday' walks.

I got a lovely Toot card from lovely Toot.

Hi to folk popping in...stay awhile, we are always looking for new veggers to interorgate(sp) welcome.

Sorry you are ailing Guad. I am with fumf's suggestion. Although I don't drink. sonds good to me.

No yeast advice Toot, another stollen eater here.
I am doubled up with stomach cramps. Bloody joy. Not a good enough reason to stay at home though? [hopeful emoticon].

We have hired a car to get about. Very Posh.

Got to go and wash up and do all things mundane, but as I probably won't be on here for a bit

Lots and Lots of fruity christmas wishes and peace for the new year to all.
Joining MN and finding this thread was one of the best things I did this year.

Thanks for putting up with my Diet Coke addiction{grin]....raises a large chilled glass and sends silent Christmas Greetings...........

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

TooTickyDoves · 24/12/2008 14:54

I am in so much PAIN with my jaw. You know how much I hate painkillers and never ever use them? I have been hogging ibuprofen for the last week. And some paracetamol between times.

TooTickyDoves · 24/12/2008 14:55

Oh hello Feather...Christmassy doodah wish stuff to you too

TooTickyDoves · 24/12/2008 16:03

What sort of stomach cramps Feather? [concerned]

Guadalupe · 24/12/2008 17:46

Good lord, Franny, I think I'd forgo my turkey for that feast. It sounds bloody delicious.

I am feeling a lot better I must say, maybe the mass natural remedy halted it a bit. I bought mege sudafed stuff just in case though. I want to taste my christmad food.

Toot - can you google yeast problem?

FVM - I overlooked your christmas name, it's very good indeed!

DD keeps squealing. They've just put their stockings up. I've burnt the mince pies but I have made some rather good baskets and decorations from garden foliage, bits of fern and ivy and holly and cyclamen. The ivy has made my arms itch though.

Guadalupe · 24/12/2008 17:47

What's wrong with your stomach, Mou?

TooTickyDoves · 24/12/2008 18:17

I have done the yeast and fear it may be too much. Ah well
I did google quite a lot.

Glad you're feeling a bit better Guad.

Oh god, mince pies!!

Guadalupe · 24/12/2008 18:21

Thanks - I am quite back to my old self I feel. Have just changed all the beds and need to tidy up a bit then I'm done.

I'm pretty annoyed my pies burnt. Dh says they will be fine but they won't. I am about to roll some more out, if I don't do it now I won't bother and there's half a jar of mince left.

I bet the stollen will be fabulous, Toot.

FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2008 19:42

good lord @ making decorations from garden foliage we are a funny clever bunch

very much hope people's jaws / colds / stomachs recover quickly

we have had far more frenetic day than i wanted but it all worked out in the end
ds1 was saying he didn't want to do some of our traditions - well can't blame him really as some are frankly bizarre
eg we have to get in the car and drive round our estate looking at the christmas lights
erm giving them marks out of ten
errrrm with scoresheets and clipboards and stuff

anyway he didn't want to do this and various other stuff
until it was the 11th hour and it was nearly too late to fit
it all in and SUDDENLY, suddenly he DESPERATELY wanted to do it all and it had to be JUST the same as last year and he remembered EVERY tiny detail, which i had to faithfully recreate

so he has gone to bed wildly excited
what time are we banking on for the morning? ds1 usually up at 6.20 am anyway [fear] [yawn]

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2008 19:43

OP posts:
littlerach · 24/12/2008 19:58

Dds have been hellish.

church was lovely though.

They are now in bed - am hoping it won't ber before 6.30 am
W shall see.

FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2008 20:06

despite appearances ds1 is SUPPORTING DS2 not strangling him
they are sitting in their christmas stockings btw

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 24/12/2008 21:34

Wow. Their stockings are big! Gorgeous picture.

LOLOLOL at scoring the christmas decs, that is very funny.

I am TIRED now. My oomph has gone. I have yet to make risotto. I might snort some more garlic.

Little rach - we missed church. I usually take dd but it was 3pm and I forgot till 3.10pm. Oops.

FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2008 21:51

their stockings are vast, it is ludicrous
it was my fault, a really nice mn person made them for me and she suggested a completely normal size and i guessed it rather than looking on tape measure and said no LARGER please
so she did
they are beautiful though, i will post pictures at some point
she does bespoke children's furnishings - we should all give her our money imo

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2008 21:54

ds1 only just gone to sleep!
has been crying because so tired and excited and "it's so long to wait, mummy" "is it nearly morning?" etc
bless him
ds2 and i had to get in with him and lie with our eyes shut breathing deeply (luckily ds2 was doing this quite effectively )

Ho ho ho

I have just been trying for about 3 HOURS to get on this thread from my parents computer and it kept crashing.

Then I remembered I had brought my laptop, and here I am.

My only conclusion is they must have some anti-very-bad-swear-words software installed

I love those stockings, they are capacious to say the least!

Have been peeling sprouts while Dh did the final wrappings, now we're all set.

Lots of love and veggerly hugs to everyone, hope you all have splendid days tomorrow.

Oh and sorry about the absence of Christmas cards from me, too

But I love you all very much anyway and will be thinking of you as I chomp my way through the mountain of chocolate veg tomorrow

Mou I am planning a Boxing Day jog if you are feeling better by then

Merry Christmas to everyone!
