For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

morning chaps
sorry for late night fretting
Bee we are going to library for Christmas rhyme time (2 mad librarians sing songs etc)
and distributing chocolates to people in the town who are particularly lovely to us (eg 2 mad librarians, shoe shop ladies who don't mind when ds1 takes an hour to choose a pair of shoes, etc)
then a craft activity at local museum
so ruddy wholesome aren't we

Oh Bee, it is nice to have you being all regular

I need to go to town today for food'n'things. Oh, and stollen ingredients
And I need to do posting. God bless village PO with less queueing.

Lots and lots of love to everybody, especially SB and Feather who seem to need it.

mangolassi · 22/12/2008 09:18

I need to find out what stollen is, i think. It keeps coming up.
And need to pick up dd from nursery and keep her occupied somewhere -dp just had a tooth or 2 pulled and is miserable.

Everyone is so wholesome on this thread, it's a welcome relief from moldieprawngate over there

I'm already thinking about NY resolutions, do we have to wait for Xmas to be over before we start talking about them?

TooTickyDoves · 22/12/2008 09:21

Hello Mango

Stollen is a German sweet fruited bread wrapped around marzipan.

DumbledoresGirl · 22/12/2008 09:24

Ooer, there is quite a community here isn't there?

But if I am only a little bit welcome, I nipped on to say, courtesy of you ladies, I am starting today with..........

a banana! woohooo!

Oh and pst, I am having F&Z's wobbly today - more things to do than I could possibly list here and I am going to explode with it all. Please, if you see me on MN today, tell me to p* off.

mangolassi · 22/12/2008 09:30

hello dumbledore's girl. Girl as in you see him as a father-figure, or girl like girlfriend?

Thanks Toot. Marzipan in the middle? I like marzipan.

TooTickyDoves · 22/12/2008 10:04

Of course you are welcome DG

Yes, marzipan is good stuff.

I am supposed to be out doing stuff but dp has had to go and buy a new loo seat as a matter of urgency.
Anyway I'm not ready.

DumbledoresGirl · 22/12/2008 10:10

Girl as in: Harry Potter describes himself as "Dumbledore's man" meaning on Dumbledore's side, and as Dumbledore is my favourite HP character, I was filled with longing to be what Harry described himself to be. But I am not a man and Dumbledore's "woman" sounds a bit like his tart on the side, plus I am obsessed with my age so thought "girl" would make me sound younger. So basically, DG as in "on his side". I should have just gone for Dumbledore but then people would think I was a bearded old man.

There you go, you really wish you had not asked now, don't you?

And yes I am not supposed to be here today. But I have persuaded ds2 to empty the dishwasher so that's one task down

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 22/12/2008 10:49

morning beautiful fruiters.
Ds2 spiked huge temp last night ad so he and I have been left at home while ds1 and dh go to PILs in scarborough. tears have been shed and dh, bless him, is driving back tonight instead of staying over...
It's that odd thing of ds1 has had his birthday treat but because we are not going to be beside the seaside tomorrow actually on his birthday, I feel obliged to come up with some alternative fun.
The only option appears to be hellishly expensive skating in a nearby country park which you are not allowed to book for, merely turn up and pray one doesn't have to queue for 6 hours...

TinyWhiteFeather · 22/12/2008 11:49

Puts arm gently around DG's shoulders and shepherds her back onto the thread.

Passes bowl of fruit and pats a cushion.

There is quite a lot of us but we are very friendly, so please stay..

Hello all. Very busy Can't stop.

Bustles back out again with a cheery wave.

DumbledoresGirl · 22/12/2008 11:55

Aww thanks for the cushion TWF. What's this fruit muck though?

FMV, you poor thing (or poor ds2 anyway) Will he be ok for ice skating tomorrow?

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 22/12/2008 12:37

he has just thrown up through coughing. But is happily eating ice pops and watching a dvd and volunteering to go to the shop to get butter so we can do some baking

It's actually a bit crap having everyone's burthdays this time of year. Someone is always ill for one of them.
And parents send their kids into school with vile viruses (virii?) for the last couple of weeks at school, so they don't miss out in fun stuff...

Last year ds1 got ill on xmas day.

We're a crap advert for 10/10 eh?
Though actually, this is the first time any of us have been ill all year.....

BBBee · 22/12/2008 13:53

fmv - that means he is getting better.

DG - you know me slightly - I used to be dimppplelledd tthighgihss but i had to change because a RL tracked me down and it was all a bit freaky.

I am not here very much but am on holiday at the moment and thsi is one of my favourite holiday things!

toot - the stollen - are you going to use yeast? I once knew a vegan and she wouldn't have yeast or honey and i never really understood it.

town was lovely apart from a bit where we all got cross about going to a sandwich shop.

i bought cranberries from the market stall and it is the one with the very flirty man and i am so rubbish at it - i really am. I don;t know what to say and go red and retend it isn't happening and then blurt out something awful like "I can't have sex with you i am on my period now please can i have some cranberries" (well it wasn't that but was blundering and inappropiate)

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 22/12/2008 13:57

hahahahahah at your blurt (even though you didn't really)!

I got 'twinkled' at by a young man in town yesterday. Was so shocked I nearly fell over. Very cool

Course it might have been my twatty hat he was twinkling at...

BBBee · 22/12/2008 14:12

or a twitch or something in his eye. I think i would be tempted to shout 'oi are you looking at me, and is that a sex kind of face or a twitch and anywya i am married and mooncupped up and so stop harrassing me or i will shoot you.'

i am so bad at flirting - really bad at doing it or recieving it - I have no notion of levels you see. no subtle side.

BBBee · 22/12/2008 14:54

i am off to see some old friends now - i am very excited about it. i am going to tidy my kitchen (lolololol!) and then have a bath and go out.

hope you have a lovely rest of the day / eve!

TooTickyDoves · 22/12/2008 15:37

Yeah I use yeast [callous]
And honey but only from small producers who are kind to their bees and don't stuff them with sugar syrup or kill the queens.

Took 45 minutes to get into town, normally takes 10. Still, I was on my own with music blasting so not all bad.

TooTickyDoves · 22/12/2008 15:50

Bee thank you for making me smile you precious thing you.

TooTickyDoves · 22/12/2008 15:51

Fmv sorry for poorliness. hope he picks up sufficiently to skate tomorrow and that they whoosh you to the front of the queue and let you in free.

TooTickyDoves · 22/12/2008 17:32

Oh dear it's a lonely yurt again.

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 22/12/2008 17:34

I'm here, but i shouldn't be. DH is back and scowling at me. He thinks I've spent all day on here but I haen't!

TooTickyDoves · 22/12/2008 17:37

{{{{{{}}}}}}

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 22/12/2008 17:40

thanks!
Oh what do you do with over excited nearlyu birthday boys....

TooTickyDoves · 22/12/2008 17:42

Look, hugs make people smile.

Ds2 wants me to make triple chocolate carrot sundae for dinner

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 22/12/2008 17:43
