For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Lol, not far at all, Avi. About 5-10 mins walk at most. We are not going to offer more. Once out mortgage offer comes in he should take it back off the market again. We were going to renegotiate for a reduction towards the end for damp works but I think that might be pushing our luck now that it is only our mortgage holding us up. We'll see.

BBBee · 30/11/2008 21:15

TooTicky · 30/11/2008 21:36

Ohn god I can't send ds2 to school tomorrow. He has blue acrylic paint on his neck, which has been there sinc Friday, and he says his toes smell of garlic. They are dreadfully grubby.

I am here.

My apple was so delicious I could eat it again. I don't suppose the rumand sugar and almonds made it as healthy as it could have been but it felt pretty wholesome/.

SuperBunny · 01/12/2008 04:15

Sympathy, Toot. Feel better soon.

Thank goodness Stuffit is ok.

Avi, I did e) nothing. Am glad DS is being cooperative.

Sorry for all house woes.

I made mince pies.

FrannyandZooey · 01/12/2008 09:07

smiles hope a good sleep helped

ds2 very unsettled, better go and jig about

ds1 cooing over his fancy advent calendar which has come down from loft! thank godhe doesn't yet know other people have a new one each year and they have CHOCOLATE in

filthymindedvixen · 01/12/2008 09:26

lol, we do have chocolate in ours (little felt pockets) but we also have pictures snipped from last year's xmas cards.

And when they were learning to read, I used to write down a festive word and pop it in the pocket and make them read it before they could have the chocolate....

It's quite incredible how a dyslexic 5 year old can work 'mistletoe' or 'Wenceslas' out when chocolate is at stake

Hello everyone

Have skimmed, was about to start taking notes on thread but stopped myself, everyone sounds sick - TooT - 3/4 kids sick? You need some whiskey to go with the honey and lemon.

Am just back from weekend away - was lovely - friends have built house by a river. Their baby ds was a bit of a shock surprise though, and gorgeous new house has only 1 bedroom. Oops.

Friends are wheatgrass-shot-drinking, mung-bean-hummus-making kind of people, so f+v intake pretty good. I personally draw the line at wheatgrass shots though.

I have to ask, what exactly are wanky baskets? Are all baskets wanky, or does Franny make them so?

TooTicky · 01/12/2008 10:26

Thank you for putting up with all my moaning yesterday
Feel a bit better today.
Dd2 now has enough energy to follow me around wailing, which is progress I suppose.
Ds1's op definitely postponed.
Dd1 is the grumpiest thing in all of Wiltshire.
Ds2 is at home in a just-in-case kind of way.

TooTicky · 01/12/2008 10:27

Wanky baskets are sort of touchy-feely baskets for babies. They are not actually wanky. Franny will explain better.

mangolassi · 01/12/2008 10:48

Aah. I almost see about the baskets.

Can I just say, I'm a bit in awe at your having 4 children. I hope they all feel better soon and you can get another date for ds 1's op.

filthymindedvixen · 01/12/2008 10:54

They are for heuristic play (in in Eureka!). The idea is they are objects made from natural things to encourage babies/toddlers to use their senses to explore the world around them. They are used under supervision but not prescriptively by adults.
Suitable items might include fircones, driftwood, shells, felted wool balls, feathers etc.
Is that about right Franny?
She has ducuments an everything on this subject, you know

They were dubbed wnakey baskets by a sadly-nolonger Mnetter who had a very distinctive typing style and a brusque/blunt approach to posting. She used to ask Franny how her bark-sucking classes were going

OP posts:
mangolassi · 01/12/2008 11:05

So wait, are the suitable items in the baskets, somehow attached to the baskets, or are there actually no baskets at all?

filthymindedvixen · 01/12/2008 11:10

the basket is usually round and shallow to enable small people easy access so they can explore the goodies inside.

SmilesLikeNoOther · 01/12/2008 11:24

Hi, thanks for hugs and apples..

Didn't really get any sleep ....
Sofa is very uncomfortable.

Toot, I am sorry, I lost the info sent by e-mail, making crappy tired mistakes.

Need to get out but am working, trying so hard not to resort to red-bull but god this is hard.

Think I might spend some time on my Island, it is nice there, any one join me for mint julips later?

I like the sound of baskets, I made DD a 'buttony rag' that was covered in zips, buttons and fasteners (again had to be supervised) as she loved piggling them.

Guadalupe · 01/12/2008 11:59

I missed the picture.

It will no longer hang in the house of a vegger, dammit.

filthymindedvixen · 01/12/2008 12:00

That's outrageous! It shouldn't have been allowed! The bidder should have just seen how important it was for a vegger to get that picture and stepped down....

HEllo everyone

You know, since I had an enforced RL break, I have found that I get a lot more done and spend more time interacting with dd. Hopefully I won't slide straight back into internet addiction now that I'm back online at home.

I have struggled to keep up with this thread tbh. So many illnesses and other problems . I hope all the poorly people are feeling well again soon. DD has been ill, as have I to a lesser extent. She's back at school today though, much to her disgust.

Mou have a hug from me too.
