For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Good question. I have no idea. I responded to his 'is there anything I should know' email with, 'I have no idea what you are talking about' and just got a reply - 'how many things are there to guess from?'

Obviously I have done something quite major. Or things perhaps. It must have been really good if I have no recollection of it.

So I called and left a message asking him to please just tell me.

Actually, his email coincided with your post mou. I am feeling quite paranoid that he is reading this. I am too worn out to be playing guessing games.

SuperBunny · 27/11/2008 00:32

How are you, smiles?

SuperBunny · 27/11/2008 00:36

FRANNY - thread for you

SmilesLikeNoOther · 27/11/2008 00:40

I'm OK, thank -you.
I thought about your suggestion of melatonin, and I know this may sound srange, but I have a love/hate relationship with my insomnia and have other things I would tackle first, like chronic pain.

Could your friend have tracked you on here? is it possible?

SuperBunny · 27/11/2008 00:44

If he has found me on here, he has worked hard. And the amount of effort put into that would be worrying. I don't know. If he has bothered to do that then he is welcome to read anything I have said about him. Grr. Why can't he just TELL me what I have done? Why the games? More grrrrr.

Pain probably more important to treat than insomnia. I have to keep my sleep under control otherwise I go crazy.

I must go and make bread. Hope you get some sleep soon.

SmilesLikeNoOther · 27/11/2008 01:00

Night SB...

SuperBunny · 27/11/2008 02:09

Night mou. I'm feeling rather spritely - have made 2 types of bread which was meant to rise overnight in the fridge but seems to have double in size already [worried] and cookies. And sweet potato thingy.

Must go and crochet a scarf now!

mangolassi · 27/11/2008 04:30

Boco - I think you've been away nursing dd since I started posting here - so hello. Hope she's feeling better today.

Pink - so glad that use of the phrase cunting mangoes makes up for no cooking

TooT - you sound not so good, hope you feel better soon. Are all the dc's well at least?

SB - I'm confused. Why do you even want to know why he's ignoring you? He's being an arse.

I got home last night and the house was EMPTY

Bil out of hospital, so dp gave him a lift home and stayed there with dd long enough that I had time to do some yoga before they got back. So nice to be in the house alone.

And look - miraculously improved f+v -
muesli with watermelon pineapple banana (no eggs/ seeds)
2 apples
unknown leaf, cabbage, carrot, bamboo shoots
fresh smoothie with 5 berries and banana
mixed salad
coconut juice (what do you call the liquid in coconuts?)

SuperBunny · 27/11/2008 04:39

Woohoo! Hooray! Enjoy your house all to yourself, Mango. Am glad BIL is better.

I have 2 cunting mangoes. Is there anything one can to to avoid them rotting before they ripen or are they cursed?

mangolassi · 27/11/2008 04:57

Sorry, SB - my mango advice is limited to 'move to Thailand', really.
Are you ready for thanksgiving? We are off to visit some American friends for the weekend, so will celebrate tonight as well. How are your sweet potatoes?

SuperBunny · 27/11/2008 05:06

Ah, move to Thailand is a bit hardcore for me. I love mangoes but am not that dedicated!

All ready for Thanksgiving although it seems there may be 4 extra people turning up so I am not convinced I made enough sweet potatoes. They seem ok (the sweet pots, not the people) - one half will have marshmallows on and the other will have candied pecans. I will scrape the toppings off cos I don't like either. Have made lots and lots of rolls too. Have fun with your friends.

mangolassi · 27/11/2008 06:18

That's my vomit-tastic face for sweets on your sweet potatoes. Mmm, homemade bread sounds great though.

SmilesLikeNoOther · 27/11/2008 08:11

Mango....pleased for you, enjoy the tranquility, and brill that Bil is on the mend.

Toot, thinking of you, more{{{{{{hugs}}}}}, take care.

filthymindedvixen · 27/11/2008 10:09

Happy Thanksgiving SB,
Hello Toot's ds?
Boco, hugs to dd and I await your hair decisions with interest as I feel the urge to choppity chop my own straggly locks a little.
Franny, congrats on wnakcy baskey publicity.
Mango - hope you are ok,
and thanks to you all for very kind words last night.
ds1 has anger management issues at school and ds2 has been let down IMO by the school over his specific lerning difficutllties which I highlighted 4 years ago. He is in Yr 6 and his new teacher told me last night he was the most intelligent child she had ever taught but his learning difficulties mean the gap between his potential and his actual achievement has got almost iredeemably large.
Is a long story but for different reasons, I feel I have let down my children. Either by my parenting (where does this anger come from?)or by not being pushy enough. I thought I was doing the right thing by letting the school deal with ds1's learning problems. I have always shied away from being pushy. Now it appears i have let him down by not pushing for action.

I don't want to monopolise this thread,so don't want to speak of it on here but I wanted to explain why I was so sad last night.

onwards and upwards.

littlerach · 27/11/2008 12:04

FMV, I think you are fab.
It si good not to be pushy. Deffo.
Anger? Dd1's anger cpmes form frustration much f the time, as does mine.
feel free to monoplodise thread.
Or monopolioise!

FrannyandZooey · 27/11/2008 12:22

FMF I am positive you did what you thought was the right thing at the time, which is all any of us can do
if you WERE a very pushing sort of person you would not be the lovely gentle vegger who we all know and whom your boys are lucky to have as a mother
FWIW I don;t think many very intelligent people are well served by school and this does not mean that they won't be happy and / or successful later in life
but this is cold comfort when you just want your children to have the very best and are feeling like they have been let down
i am sorry about it

FrannyandZooey · 27/11/2008 12:29

well have had fairly annoying day
ds1 due to go on home ed event with friend so I was going to have lovely day at home with ds2 (am sorry but was REALLY looking forward to this)
there was also quite a lot riding on it as ds1 has been quite nervy about doing stuff without me lately, and so it was a big deal that he was happy to do this and I was going to get a break yada yada yada yada
anyway friend is not well so it didn't pan out
big let down on my part

then we have problems with our bath
we thought it was just the seal needed replacing but apparently is all wet and rotten under the bath and up the walls and is a Big Job [fear] [stress]
and meanwhile it has to dry out and I can't have a proper shower till tues, but must crouch and do things with towels round the edge

FrannyandZooey · 27/11/2008 12:31

HOWEVER
coat is here and is nice! you can wear it as normal coat and is quite smart and nicely cut etc, which is fab as I have been wearing dp's cast off old duffle coat for last 3 years
then it has this zip in part made of woolly knitted stuff, with a hole in for their head
it is v cute and I think I will look amusingly huge in it from the side

filthymindedvixen · 27/11/2008 12:36

did i miss link to this fabled coat I have heard so much about?

sorry about your day, is annoying when plans go awry like this.

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 27/11/2008 12:41

ooh thanks for giving me a chance to show off AGAIn about the ecologically grown wool [ponce]
I paid £40, do you think that was ok? I am planning on reselling it when no longer needed (but know I am quite likely to have trashed it, really )

filthymindedvixen · 27/11/2008 13:05

well I think £40 is ok for a jacket anyway. But when it comes with a free baby to keep you warm, seems most bargainous!
Do you get a choice of pink or blue insert?

Tatties · 27/11/2008 13:20

Oh FMV darling I think you are a wonderful parent and I have the impression that you have a great relationship with your boys. I know I can't give you any advice but I'm always here if you want a natter. Did you say your dh was away too? (((Hugs)))

daisy99divine · 27/11/2008 15:03

Morning all

FMV I am so sorry you were so sad yesterday, it is so tough being a parent. You seem to be a lovely warm and wonderful mum doing your very best for your lovely boys. I really agree with Franny that children who do not thrive in the narrow definition of school are often wonderful and achieving adults but the main thing is to keep faith in yourself - it doesn't sound as if you have failed to push for your DS and his present Yr6 teacher sounds like she appreciates him for himself?

daisy99divine · 27/11/2008 15:06

Mou - congrats on the pictures etc

Toot- are you ok? semi sense from computer so assumed not childee fingers

Mango - glad you have peace and quiet and yoga you deserve it!

SB - happy thanksgiving - yum for sweet potatoes but with stuff on top sounds yucky! Scrape away! And give BF sharp kick into touch - I cannot be doing with emotional games particularly when you already think it's over????

Hello Tatties and TF

Boco - hugs to Evie, hope she's feeling better and excited re hair!

Franny - yippee re coat, sounds great. Bottles? Maybe try different types? took me a while with DS - different teats and sizes of bottle but worked in end?

TooTicky · 27/11/2008 15:16

Hello! Some blackcurrant tea found its way into the keyboard last night and it all went a bit doolally.

Fmv, you are such a brilliant parent, I've always been in awe of your patience and wisdom and general loveliness.
Remember, you can only ever do your best. And your best is what seems to be best at the time. Your boys are lucky to have you. Academia ain't everything either - he will get there in his own time and be better for not being rushed.

Mou, did you get an email?

I have a poorly dd2 today - all hot and weepy.

Love you all!!!!

Oh and Franny, could you please remind me what goes into your banana cake?

Butternut squash and lentil soup.
