For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Do you take melatonin for insomnia SB?

photos not going brill..I am ok at painting but not tech minded. Will borrow H's camera later. I am not going to be defeated by this, and once the site is up and running will need all my work photographed anyway for the floods of enquiries....lol

runs around in a tizz.......aaaaahhhhhhh!

,,,it is like being back at uni again.

daisy99divine · 24/11/2008 15:15

Good luck with photos and website Mou, this is most exciting!

Sb, lol at you with 6 baby bunnies by 22!

FrannyandZooey · 24/11/2008 16:16

oh you facebook tarts

ds2 a bit miserable
i don't really have any strategies for dealing with this as it hasn't really happened before
is this beginning of life getting trickier? what do you do with babies when they are a bit sad for no apparent reason? [clueless]

SmilesLikeNoOther · 24/11/2008 16:23

Hold them close and sing gently to them...not sure how old your DS is but say it is normal to feel sad sometimes and that mummy has lots of love to help make them feel better.
A bit of pampering and a favourite treat, or a bath with mummy. Quiet reassurance so they don't feel they 'have' to be happy until they are ready, but gentle encouragement to coax them out of it.

FrayedKnot · 24/11/2008 16:27

Good afternoon me lovelies

SB so does the melatonin work, then? DH has chronic insomnia, and I have wondered before if it would be worth him trying it, if we could get some. I hate to see him get so exhausted and cranky when he's going thorugh a bad spell. Poor you and Mou for suffering with it.

Sad, Franny? Do you mean grizzly? I was hopeless if DS was like that. I just got hopelessly stressed out. Um..that's very unhelpful isn;t it.

DS is decorating his body with biro.

I do feel slightly more neglectful than normal

TooTicky · 24/11/2008 16:44

Not teeth I suppose Franny?

TooTicky · 24/11/2008 18:18

Ds2 has just wandered into the kitchen and said, " Dad, I am a Mr, aren't I? Can I have a cappucino?"

SuperBunny · 24/11/2008 19:16

Melatonin is great! I have to take it otherwise I am up ALL night and then grumpy tired the next day . I was very sceptical but it works wonders. And I'd rather take that than sleeping pills, although I'd prefer to not need anything, obviously. Can you get it in the UK? Here they sell it nr the vitamins and supplements.

Franny, I am not sure what to suggest. With DS it was constant holding, singing, pacing, walking or sitting in his swing. Or, when we were both desperate for a break, I'd put him in the buggy and we'd go for a walk.

Good luck with the photos, mou

LOL @ Toot's DS2.

FrayedKnot · 24/11/2008 19:30

Yes, constant movement seemed sometimes to be the only way. I remember a summer night when DS about 6 months DH & I took turns to push DS back and forth in the garden for about 5 hours

Apparently SB you can get melatonin here on prescription but not otc. I think you cna buy it on the interweb but I'm a bit dubious about that.

TooTicky · 24/11/2008 19:37

Dd2 used to get miserable in the evenings and was always better for fresh air.

SuperBunny · 24/11/2008 19:40

The things we do with new babies! I remember YMCA came on the radio when DS was about 6 months old and I danced and he giggled. So, I kept doing it, forgetting that I was standing right by a huge window which overlooked a carpark and a group of office people were standing there gazing at me. They couldn't see the baby on the floor, only the loon doing the YMCA all by herself

I wouldn't by medicine on the interweb either. Bit dodgy. Although I get my prescriptions by mail order but that's legit. Feels a bit odd though, finding a big box of drugs in one's mailbox.

filthymindedvixen · 24/11/2008 21:02

oh Franny, I wish I caould come and help. I have magic ways with miserable babies which I never had when mine were little, sadly. It's a gift I have acquired too late

Could it be teething? The gums can hurt even before there is any sign.

gentle Humming in baby ears is very soothing

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 24/11/2008 21:13

yes i think maybe teeth - some kind of pain anyway at a guess
oh perhaps actually WIND had a spicy stew yesterday and we were all very trumpy
he has been such a placid soul that crying is a new thing - he doesn't really cry
he was ok when i put in sling and walked around, but i was tired - ah well
ds1 a great help i must say!
smiles he is 4 months so a bath or singing was spot on

i have made loads of that stew - shall i risk it again? oh dear

anyway f+v
apple raisins pear melon
baked beans chickpeas
lettuce cuc red pepper avocado more chickpeas tomato

SmilesLikeNoOther · 24/11/2008 21:14

You can come and gently hum in my ears if you like fmv!

Lol at YMCA dancing superbunny

Eaten crap warming food all day, but managed..

tomatos,
sweet potato,
onion,
peppers,
juice,
broccoli,
peas,
sweetcorn,
carrots.

wow....nearly a sticker there.

FrannyandZooey · 24/11/2008 21:15

fmf i bet the difference is you are not stressed about them crying! i bet you are lovely and peaceful and they are calmed by you
when its your own you go a bit bonkers don't you
and they can feel it

TooTicky · 24/11/2008 22:49

You have to watch this !!!!!

daisy99divine · 24/11/2008 22:53

Poor Franny, I found with my DS that the sling was the thing, even if I wasn't moving it was better than being put down - he never liked horizontal, used to sleep sloped up my chest even in bed.

If you think it's the stew why not leave it today and then try again tomorrow

If teeth and/or general woebegoneness have you tried amber beads? I think they are wonderful... try www.wonderousgems.com

hugs to all others especially non-sleepers
Today
I have done carrot, pak choi, satsuma, banana, kiwi, peas (twice), soya beans, butternut squash and a swim

TooTicky · 24/11/2008 22:56

Ooh, I like pak choi
I forgot to plant mine

I didn't know about amber beads!

TooTicky · 24/11/2008 22:58

I appear to have made a chocolate spice cake with icing and jelly diamonds

daisy99divine · 24/11/2008 23:15

What ho, Toot, pass over the choccy cake and I will tell you Pak Choi stories...

Amber beads are fab! And they look lovely. DS is on his second one - the only night I have ever been away I came home and The Beads had Gone - I asked DS "Oh, Daddy has them" I asked DH "Oh, DS has them..."

I find them slightly talismanic. They get warm and they are wonderful. But we don't sleep in them (I mean I don't let DS sleep in them)

It's very common in France, thought of as a bit flaky and sandal wearing here

daisy99divine · 24/11/2008 23:17

"Here" as in blighty, of course

daisy99divine · 24/11/2008 23:18

Except I guess there aren't corners in a yurt

Anyone here ????

or am I talking to myself again...

I blame the melatonin

TooTicky · 24/11/2008 23:27

Sorry Daisy! I went to numb enhance my brain with word games on facebook.

I am now finding amber quite fascinating. I remember seeing it on sale in eastern Europe, with insects in.

SuperBunny · 25/11/2008 03:32

Toot, we have that clip on ALL the time - DS loves it. Isn't it a great video? From that, we ended up with a huge playlist of all sorts of fab songs, most of which seem to be Rolf Harris but none with good videos like that.

Hope DS2 feels better soon, Franny.

I feel a bit queasy

SmilesLikeNoOther · 25/11/2008 07:23

We love the lego versions of things....doesn't eddy izzard do some of them?, definately lol at those.

Mmmmmm spiced chocolate cake...not normally a chocolate cake fan but that sounds yummy. I do like those Mayan Mystic Magnums which are a bit like that. I am a bit addicted to ice-cream, it is my biggest food sin, but mmmmmmmmm,.

There is definately something about amber..but I collect crystals, I find it very relaxing to go through my collection, allthough very rarely use them for healong, a geologist in the making I think.

Hugs daisy, tis strange to be here alone sometimes but somehow peaceful.

DS dragged me out for a cycle ride at 8.00 last night and I have never been so cold in my life, I awarded myself a mummy of the year sticker.

DD's birthday and she got a high school musical Karaoke thing, so guesss what I am being serenaded by!!!

Well, time to wade through the wrapping paper and prop myself up look busy in the kitchen.

Birthday cake for all later.
