For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Fumf, happy birthday for little fumflet, sounds a lovely birthday plan

Pink&blue - what about putting a cap/ top on the cup to prevent water on table Mummy losing it

FK sympathise with bedtime story - I had a stern "will you please lie down and go to sleep" and felt mean but he did

and sorry SB about leaving trauma - first time I left DS with "non family" was for a friend's big birthday party so great (he was 10 months)

but first night away was work so I felt a bit pants would have been much nicer to do it for trip to Cornwall/ Belgium/ chance of a lie in and frottage with DH

daisy99divine · 20/10/2008 22:39

Osba, I've been lurking but you're not around. I am worried your partidges will peak, but I am going to have my supper now. The book is by my computer

TooTicky · 20/10/2008 22:39

{{{{{hugs}}}}} to you FK. 'Tis a funny age. But these things pass. I know the hitting is no fun

Pink'n'blue, would she enjoy a straw?

SB, hope it goes well.

TooTicky · 20/10/2008 22:40

Hello Daisy, want some chocolate?

berolina · 20/10/2008 23:06

Happy birthday to littlefumf.

Sorry FK for fraught evening

Great news MamaG

2 apples, pear, banana, OJ, cucumber, big heap of roasted veg (parsnip, pepper, courgette, carrot). = about 8

Ooooh are people having satsumas already? They are still scarce and expensive here, and I am a little disconsolate in the gap after the plums and peaches and before the satsumas.

Tuesday already. Must go to bed.

TooTicky · 20/10/2008 23:12

Psst, Bero, come over here, we still have Monday!!

TooTicky · 20/10/2008 23:13

Fumf, meant to say earlier, happy birthday to ds2 and it sounds wonderful.

daisy99divine · 20/10/2008 23:34

Hello Toot, yes please to chocolate

daisy99divine · 20/10/2008 23:36

Is it F&V chocolate - not done so well today

maybe "fruit 'n' nut" counts for a bit?

SuperBunny · 21/10/2008 03:23

Hello

Leaving my (rather old) baby with the sitter was, of course, fine. Although the first thing she said when I got back was, "we wanted to watch a DVD and I couldn't work out how to use your DVD player" It was unplugged because I never watch TV. To be fair to her, she did ask me when I interviewed her if telly was ok and I said, "yes, we don't watch it but it's ok if you want to sometimes" but I didn't expect her to be doing that the first time she babysat. I was only gone for 2 hours. Oh well

How was the birthday, fmf?

I have eaten shit. I need a bootcamp urgently. Someone come and whip me into shape.

SuperBunny · 21/10/2008 03:35

Can we have a new title? This one gets me muddled up with my other regular thread.

hammouhouseofhorror · 21/10/2008 07:03

Osba, sorry about the hitting, my Ds has started doing it again at 10,
Sounds like you are doing really well though, even if it doesn't feel like it.

DD still has a thing about water, I'm thinking of turning her room into a wetroom (she is 5!!) All her drink bottles have sports tops as I found it hard to look into her gorgeous blue eyes and rant plead with her to stop soaking the living room carpet

Weyhey, MamaG....With you all the way...wish I could do the pushing for you. I have 'issues' at the moment and could do with a good swear chance to let off steam.

Pants at F&V yesterday, lots of cake. But know I will do better today. We have some lovely pears in, I think I could just live on those (and nuts!)

Is it just me or does everyone seem a bit flat at the moment?

Hi to all others, finding it difficult to come on in the evenings at the moment as H is a bit twitchy, hence my morning posts.

Lovely day to all...and thanks for being lovely folk....

fullmOOOOOWHOOOOOnfiend · 21/10/2008 08:25

ok, need your best punning and thinking for a new title then!!
All I can think of are ones we have already done...

we have had 'I started Pumpkin I couldn't finish...haven't we?'

fullmOOOOOWHOOOOOnfiend · 21/10/2008 08:40

Night Of the Living Veg?
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes?

OsmosisBOOnana · 21/10/2008 09:18

Night of the living veg!

Yes, that lentils and pickled lemons one sounds good DD, the partridges will be good till tomorrow says my butcher. Which is when I am going to cook them. So that works out well!

S1ur · 21/10/2008 09:24

Heh, I like night of the living veg

TooTicky · 21/10/2008 09:43

Another vote for Night of the Living Veg!

daisy99divine · 21/10/2008 11:02

I like Night of the Living Veg too, very halloween!

Mou, I am not flat, I am fizzing! I will spread love, joy and lentilly fruity veggie hugs to all yurt dwellers!

daisy99divine · 21/10/2008 11:07

LOOK AWAY ALL VEGANS

Ok, Osba ...

350g green or brown lentils
50ml olive oil
2 cloves garlic chopped
2 partidges halved
2 large swiss chard leaves (remove the stems and cut them into small pieces, then slice the leaves diagonally into narrow strips)
300ml (1/2 pint) water
2 pickled lemons cut into pieces or 1 tablespoon lemon juice
salt and pepper

METHOD:
Cook the lentils in lightly salted, boiling water for 20 minutes, drain them and keep the liquid. Heat the oil in a heavy frying pan with a lid. Fry the garlic for a few minutes then remove and discard it. Brown the partridges all over in the oil and then set them aside.

Wilt the chard strips in the hot oil for 2 minutes, remove, drain on kitchen paper and set aside. Return the partridges to the pan together with the lentils, chard stalks, pickled lemon pieces or juice, and a little of the lentil water; cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until the partidges are tender. Add the chard strips, heat through and serve with a fresh crisp green salad

needless to say, I hvae never made it. Let me know what it's like!

daisy99divine · 21/10/2008 11:08

Just been to gymnastics with DD, very impressive place. It's a proper training hall with sprung floors and foam pits n ting. I can live out my failed gymnast dreams through DD in peace!

Was going to take her swimming but her excema looks horrific today, hmmmmmm.

OsmosisBOOnana · 21/10/2008 11:38

that sounds v good indeed DD, will let you know how it goes.

TigerFeet · 21/10/2008 11:51

Morning lovely ladies

Have skimmed

Hurrah for MiniG and his perfect orientation

DD fell on her way to CM's after school yesterday - chipped a tooth, horrible swollen lip and scabby chin and nose miraculously her glasses escaped intact, amazing as she generally bends them about twice a week irrespective of head first dives. I had to snigger into my hand though when she told dh that she hadn't put her hands down when she fell because last time she fell it hurt her hands too much (you know, that small child thing where they trip and land on both hands and both knees and end up with four scabs). Poor dd, her face is a mess, I came over all PFB this morning and almost kept her off school - soon saw the light though, she is milking this to the max, I would have hated to deny her the opportunity to show off her war wounds to her teachers and friends and get maximum sympathy all round.

Last night was horrendous really - horrid weather, traffic jams all teh way home (45 min work-CM-home trip took an hour and a half ), less than half an hour at home with broken daughter then out again in wet and traffic to parents' thingy at school. Bah. Chips for tea on the way home at 9pm and they made me feel sick well I shouldnt have had a pie as well.

Am back on f&v wagon due to feeling shitty re all of above and poor diet.
