For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

They can't run TooT for they are blind and have no feet [evil] they are best off nestling snuggly on a bed of apples as DD says.

daisy99divine · 20/10/2008 16:42

Osba luscious game recipe on its way this evening

Sorry TooT

fullmOOOOOWHOOOOOnfiend · 20/10/2008 17:58

oh that's fab MamaG.

TooT, we went to a theme park/zoo on saturday (free tickets, thank god or would have been £90 for family ticket ) and had the most marvellous time - nice weather and no queues!

Tomorrow night, my parents are coming over and we will have party tea (just made a cake) and a few of our close friends (who are almost family) are coming to share cake. Including my 2, there will be 8 children, so although not exactly a party, it kind of is...

fullmOOOOOWHOOOOOnfiend · 20/10/2008 17:58

osba, you have reminded me I have venison in freezer. Nom.

SuperBunny · 20/10/2008 18:19

pinkandbluespottywellies · 20/10/2008 18:52

Good baby news MamaG!

No idea what I've eaten today. Was quite good I seem to remember

FrayedKnot · 20/10/2008 19:33

Great news MamaG

Happy Birthday to the littlest Fumflet for tomorrow!

I feel a bit sh*tty. I just put DS to bed with no stories because he hit me three times at bathtime. There has been lots of hitting lately and I felt very stern. We didn;t go to bed on an argument, we did a lullaby which DS sang in the manner of Johnny Rotten, and then we had a cuddle. But no stories.

I love storytime and I am upset we didn;t do it.

Apple, satsuma, grapes, salad, avocado (unshared), leeks, lentils, brocolli.

SuperBunny · 20/10/2008 19:51

Oh, FK

Great news MamaG

I am about to leave DS for the first time with a babysitter. I have left him before but always with friends and this is the first time I have actually employed anyone and checked references and stuff. Eeek

FrayedKnot · 20/10/2008 19:55

UR are you going somehwere nice?

We haven;t done that yet. DS is 4.5.

Oh, btw

For anyone short of menu ideas

SuperBunny · 20/10/2008 19:56

A meeting, FK, nowhere nice, I'm afraid!

Thank for link - must bookmark it. And start cooking decent food again. I have been stuck in a rut

fullmOOOOOWHOOOOOnfiend · 20/10/2008 20:20

oh SB, are you going anywhere nice?
It is always hard the first time....I left ds1 at 6 months with grandma for a weekend and wept all weekend (in between exploding bosoms )

fullmOOOOOWHOOOOOnfiend · 20/10/2008 20:21

sorry, x-posts.

I can't believe my baby is 8 tomorrow
I remember every detail of his birth so clearly.

pinkandbluespottywellies · 20/10/2008 21:40

FK hope you have a nicer day tomorrow.

I keep getting cross with dd cause she keeps pouring water out of her cup. She loves playing with water in the garden atm but I get furious a little frustrated when she transfers her learning and experimenting to the dinner table

SB hope you have a good trip. I'm sure ds will think it's a great adventure

My brain is back in gear now (I seem to get a second wind around bed time atm ) I have had 7 portions and just done half an hour of yoga! Rhubarb, prunes, apple juice, tomato, sweetcorn, carrots, grapes. I didn't have any at lunchtime but opted for a portion of oily fish instead

Right I'm off to get my beauty sleep. I'm back in the secure unit tomorrow.

pinkandbluespottywellies · 20/10/2008 21:44

Oh god just read 'it's always hard the first time' and now feel awful I left dd with mil to go to The Spice Girls concert with my sister (dd was 14 months) and I barely thought twice about it but I had a fab busy time. Then when we went to the F1 this year I missed her a bit but only in a nice way. I would see something she would like or laugh at, or think of something she would say and it would make me smile

I think because both times it was something I really wanted to do it was ok. I don't get people who have nights out/trips away because 'you ought to be leaving them now' at 4 months or whatever

Anwway. Night!

OsmosisBOOnana · 20/10/2008 21:53

sympathetic stroke on the shoulder to FK and PSW! DD and I had a rare good day. Mostly because I didn't get angry with her.

It's shit - you know raising screaming blue muder your voice will make them worse and also inform how they respond to you, but it isn't something you can think about logically when it happens, just feel like a cnut afterwards.

I also didn't look back when I first left DD with others! M&D had her for 4 days back in Feb when she was about 14 months, condition was we had to stay in Cornwall. A hardship!! We stayed in this fantastic boutique style B&B at Zennor on a cliff by the ocean, called the Griffin or summat. Horribly expensive but was such a good break. Long walks, bloody marys for breakfast, post prandial snoozes etc. And the sun shone.

pinkandbluespottywellies · 20/10/2008 21:54

Ooh your holiday in Cornwall sounds wonderful. We had 4 days in Belgium, long drive, walked for MILES AND MILES round the circuit and sat and watched fast cars in the rain. It was BRILLIANT
