For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Also, if thee's a particualr bit of the city that worries you, can you go and have a look at it? Just assess it calmly while not acually on the move. Places often look more complicated when seen at speed while you are trying to think.

Boco · 14/10/2008 22:29

The WHOLE of the city, all of it. All the bits with the roads and the cars and traffic and roundabouts and lights and all those lanes. I've not done a mock run that I haven't failed miserably, and that's with my instructor telling me what to do.

TooTicky · 14/10/2008 22:38

Oh god I know that feeling. Without the safety net of the instructor though, you may well come into your own and breeze through.
And cities and everything do get much less worrying. I used to be scared of small towns. And traffic lights - I used to stall at all of them.

FrayedKnot · 14/10/2008 22:42

Hello luvverly veggers

It's taken me ages to catch up, just like the good old days

I've been yoga'ing and then to a dodgy rendezvous with a salsa teacher in a pub in town. (Am organzing a salsa night for work next week).

OB...can;t wait to hear the goss from your meet.

I have no piercings apart from my ears which closed up about 15 years ago...I got allergic to everything, even gold, in the end.

DS is being very challenging atm to do with settling into school, and if it wasn;t so late I would start a htread.

Today he said someone pushed him over and he hurt his knee. he kind if blurted it out like he hadn;t wanted to tell me and then I got a very muddled account of what happened.

I feel sad and angry for him that he is trying to deal with some aggressive behaviour and finding it difficult. Grrrr.

Am off to bed now, to ponder stuff.

TooTicky · 14/10/2008 22:45

FK, what is his teacher like? I'd go and have a word - just to suss out the situation and so he/she can be vigilant.

FrayedKnot · 14/10/2008 22:46

Boco, you are taking me back. I nearly ran into the back of a lorry on Heigham St on my 2nd test.

Have you some Rescue Remedy for beforehand?

pinkandbluespottywellies · 14/10/2008 22:48

I did my reverse round a corner about 5 minutes into my test and looked down to see the examiner put a big cross in a box. I thought 'ah, fuck it I've failed' and then just carried on driving for the next 40 minutes to get to the end! I passed. The cross was to say I'd done that out of the 3 manouvres!

I got 13 minor faults though and you're only allowed 15!

I've had more soup and pineapple tonight. And chocolate. And sweets

TooTicky · 14/10/2008 22:50

Pink

Where has Ob gone then?

FrayedKnot · 14/10/2008 22:51

Unfortunately TooT, she is off sick with tonsillitis. It may be that a situation arose today which otherwise might not have done iyswim. I will have to wait for her to return I think.

DS has no experience of any large groups of children as his nursery was tiny (6 children in his group) and obviously the children were carefully supervised.

Now I really am going to bed!

TooTicky · 14/10/2008 22:56

Oh dear FK. Is there are regualr supply teacher? Is the head a decent sort? Don't feel obliged to reply.
Sleep well

SuperBunny · 15/10/2008 02:48

Poor DS, FK

Driving tests are scary. I got shouted at when I did my test over here. Even though I did everything right. Grrr. Passed though, so all ok.

I am covered in mozzie bites. All over my face too

SuperBunny · 15/10/2008 03:36

Toot, Vegan thread here I'm not much help but you might be.

Did any of you see the full moon last night? It was very impressive here. More than usual for some reason.

OsmosisBOOnana · 15/10/2008 08:11

Mornin' blumin DH has issued a diktat from on high. Have to stay in and wait for phone to be delivered. All day as they won't give me a rough time. Never use Citylink for anyfink. No jolly jaunts to the wilderness of TooT mansion for me.

berolina · 15/10/2008 08:12

good morning all.

Boco, I think you are being Very Brave Indeed.

TooT, thank you for your email. I really, really will reply.

grrrr at mozzies, SB. The Berlin ones love me
and the bites invariably swell.

Am thinking of doing a Slubber atm and leaving MN permanently. I would miss 10/10 very much but I find the rest of it less and less (for want of a much better word) recognisable iyswim and I have so much that needs focusing on in RL.

berolina · 15/10/2008 08:13

banana, 2 apples, flapjacks
am eagerly awaiting veg box.
(have a day of annual leave today )

TooTicky · 15/10/2008 08:56

Bero I was wondering where you were. No small parcel yet?

TooTicky · 15/10/2008 08:57

Oh no Bero! Don't leave us altogether

OsmosisBOOnana · 15/10/2008 09:03

Hi TooT, sorry for bailing at the last minute. Nxt wk any good?

DD has a very poorly bottom. More molars I suspect.

I know what yoiu mean Bero, I tend to just come on here and ignore the rest of it.

TooTicky · 15/10/2008 09:06

S'okay OB. Next week should be fine. Except that with a week's notice I have no excuse for a squalid house.

OsmosisBOOnana · 15/10/2008 09:11

I am blind to squalor. Any tidying efforts will be trashed by DD anyway, she has no sense of decorum that one... unusual in a toddler.

berolina · 15/10/2008 09:45

Not yet TooT

I don't 'want' to leave really but thing is if I just come on 10/10 I'll end up getting sucked back into the rest and MN is changing a lot atm - I think there is really a big shift happening in the type of site it is - and I'm not sure if I want to be a committed part of that sort of site. And this is not an anti-newbie or twas-better-in-th'olden-days rant, although that might well be true in some ways - I'm not one of the really old guard - have been here nearly 4 years. I am probably making very little sense (what's new?)

TooTicky · 15/10/2008 13:01

I don't go out of 10/10 much so I don't really know what's going on.

daisy99divine · 15/10/2008 13:37

Morning had 13 RL mums to dinner last night - I think it went well but I might have had Grape-induced Rosy Glasses on!

Pink & Blue - I am delighted you have changed your name

Boco - I remember the joy of driving lessons and test! In mine the road was blocked by a bus and I asked the examiner if I could fit past, he acidly replied "well, that is just the kind of judgment you are here to make and I am here to assess" heaven's knows how but I passed!

FK - so sorry about your wee DS, I wish I could take all the knocks of life for our DCs, good luck talking to someone

Bero - we haven't met, but don't leave. I only come onto 10/10 - and seemingly when nobody else is in the yurt, but I like it!

Ummm, eaten banana, carrot, lots of salad, cranberry and orange juice (lots of this morning!!) and apples apples apples

Like squash soup - I make lots of Butternut squash risotto with bacon YUM!

see you later

daisy99divine · 15/10/2008 13:37

Ooo why can't I do the striking out thingy

OsmosisBOOnana · 15/10/2008 13:40

I'm still here, just in a state of suicide inducing boredom. I could do something about it but am not.

Ah well. I guess i better go and make some soup before the parsnips grow legs and walk off in search of a nicer fridge to love them.

I feel quite rough. Very irksome.
