For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Oh Pink, don't worry about beng an MIL. I mean, he might never leave the house like FMF's DSs
also, since you are so marvellous and cool you will be a marvellous and cool MIL and your DIL will LOVE you

pinkspottywellies · 10/10/2008 10:22

thanks Daisy!

OsmosisBanana · 10/10/2008 10:48

i am scared. Global Food Resources.

'Discuss one current food issue and it's effect on the consumer'

Choose your own topic and essay title

2500 words by Nov 20th.

Do I know 2500 words?

OsmosisBanana · 10/10/2008 10:48

Oops, congratulations Pink!

berolina · 10/10/2008 10:54

morning all.

pear, 2 apples (one red one green - little perfect scrummy ones), banana, yellow pepper

I am cooking the veg for a mahoosive veg bake with mushroom and wine herb sauce that I am going to make for dinner tonight.

Perfect autumn day out there. Botanic garden this afternoon.

OsBa - top tip - start writing early, while you are researching, even if you have to cross out and redraft 20 million times. It stops that utterly horrible time-is-running-out-and-where-do-I-START sitting-in-front-of-blank-page thing.

OsmosisBanana · 10/10/2008 11:04

I think I'm either going to do animal welfare or GM crops.

Might try and have a crack at a title this evening and an outline.

Need to go and sort out my off campus library access thingummy.

I have a headache, it's been 4 days now. All this thinking is giving me a brain tumour.

banana x2
large salad
half an avocado

6 at least so far.

daisy99divine · 10/10/2008 12:58

One banana. O I am slipping

One current food issue Osba and it's effect on the consumer? Easy: "If I eat too much chocolate I get fat and spotty."

that's only 11 words.

Trying to be more helpful - what about Fairtrade? The Oxfam and other related website would have loads of info. But I suppose that's the producer, not the consumer

I'm starting to have a headache too!

TooTicky · 10/10/2008 16:11

OB, if everybody went vegan, there would be no famine....just an idea
Viva have loads of info and are based v. near you.

TooTicky · 10/10/2008 16:11

Or you could do the food/biofuel thing...

daisy99divine · 10/10/2008 17:20

Oh dear, I think my flippantness was misplaced
Sorry OsBa

OsmosisBanana · 10/10/2008 18:08

Don't be a wally Daisy, I have the patent on flippant.

Yeah, food / biofuel would be a good un actually.....

my thinking on GM is that there is lots of info so won't run out of things to say if i find the right title.

hmmm.

FMF.... so you're all actual naturists?

pinkspottywellies · 10/10/2008 18:33

Oh no Daisy, lots of us do flippant in spades. There is no bad time for 10/10 flippancy!

I can't even tell you what I just had for dinner but it didn't involve any fruit or veg products whatsoever and I am planning to have cookies and ice cream for desert

fullmoonfiend · 10/10/2008 18:48

no OB, not naturists at all. I was being flippant

I am in a dither...dh is late and I need him to take ds2's mate home NOW! It's all gone pretty well considering he is little lord fauntleroy and we are Charlie Bucket IYKWIM...

Sounds like a wonderful playdate HURRY UP MR MOONY!!!

fullmoonfiend · 10/10/2008 19:26

no, he was lovely - and didn't want to leave (though I suspect that has more to do with the playstation than him adoring our quaint little family so much)

And at least he was impressed with our boat (saw the photo of the boys on it and just went WOW!!!)

DH is winging him back to the posh end of town as we speak...

fullmoonfiend · 10/10/2008 19:28

We had one little visitor who walked up to me and said (with a very concerned expression) 'Mrs Moon, do you have a vaccum cleaner?''
In front of his mother. I don't know who was more mortified
