For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

ah found it

Happy Saturday everyone. Off to see another school now (sigh) then hopefully off to park for conker hunting.(they apparently keep spiders at bay, so we will be making strings of them to hang on the boat - which is a floating spider hotel at the moment)

On Saturday? You have a lot to see don't you, we only went to two.

Mango, passion fruits banana apple and orange fruit salad.

fullmoonfiend · 11/10/2008 10:25

we have avoided some of the dull evening ones - this is a chance for ds to nose around...
There are 5.

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 11/10/2008 10:42

Were they dull?

One of ours was excessively aimed at the children, I couldn't go but ds came back very hyped up as there were indian snacks (R.E) AND Doctor Who and Torchwood figures running around (sixth form drama) and they got to electrocute each other (science) and make stuff in the DT rooms. He didn't go to the english and maths bit.

I did try to tell him school wouldn't be like that but it's his favourite of course.

Guadalupe · 11/10/2008 10:43

He's not going there.

hammouhouseofhorror · 11/10/2008 11:16

Boat sounds lovely fullmoon, lucky you, and I love spiders. The children are making spider houses as I type. I am cooking a big veg filled spag bol sauce, mil on her way. Insomnia is the worst, I'm sure I would be a completelt dirrerent person if I got some decent sleep. On the bright side, some lovely Mnetters also suffer so i'm never alone.
Apple juice and tomato juice so far, but feeling a bit sicky. not sure why.

Ds's favourite choice of schools similar to the one you describe Guad, was a great open evening.

Try and get out on my bike later, might drag Ds to bike park. Shall I try some stunts and humiliate him?

FrayedKnot · 11/10/2008 12:18

Hi everyone

What a beautiful day it is

I am about to eat some Borscht for lunch

Secondary school thing is scary

We have grammars here. 11+.

fullmoonfiend · 11/10/2008 13:28

Guad, yes, he has 'chosen' one school on the grounds of the very exciting scicence experiments they had out, when he I told him they wouldn't be doing those experiemtns every day he went. ''Oh it's a scam, a beartrap is it? To make you want to go there...''

Mou - we are very fortunate to have acquired a canal boat. It's very scruffy but I love it. And yes, it has a Jolly Roger on it (though we didn't paint it on)

MamaG · 11/10/2008 14:05

TooTicky · 11/10/2008 14:29

Hello everybody

Dd2 has explosive snot.

We are having a quiet sort of day today but I fear it is going to turn into a mopey/moany day.

I have been through the seed catalogues and worked out that we need around £40 worth of stuff but not all right now. In fact, most can wait until after Christmas and some later than that.
Does anybody want to seed-share a bit?
Some of them come in such big packets!!

We may and go and check out local woodland with a view to ds2's party in the woods - a new, cheap and fun idea of mine He was so miserable at the thought of not having a party at all

SB, how are you? I don't seem to bump into you any more

Bero, sorry about the insomnia I am going to email you. Actually, I might write you a letter... nice post is few and far between these days.

Fmf, I read that you ate refined beans - thought they may have been inspired by your guest

fullmoonfiend · 11/10/2008 16:06

rofl at refined beans.

Wow, party in the woods would be cool! You could do a scavanger hunt, and den building and have a campfire with singing and everything!

OP posts:
TooTicky · 11/10/2008 18:28

Ooh, hadn't thought about a scavenger hunt! I was thinking collecting wood and den building then eating in den might be enough. Don't think we can do fire though because the place I'm thinking of is Woodland Trust. Also, some of the children will be littlish and some parents are not very chilled about fire.

Guadalupe · 11/10/2008 18:45

Guess what we're having for dinner?

Goats cheese and sun dried tomato tarts with belly pork in black teacle and cider sauce and potato rosti with mixed veg and green bean bundles followed by pannacotta.

And to whom are we grateful for this feast? You lovely lot. It's my banquet in a box. I kept not ordering it in time for weekend and finally we have. Dh's birthday tomorrow so it's a double treat with fizz and and a video.

Thank you.

TooTicky · 11/10/2008 18:47
Smile
fullmoonfiend · 11/10/2008 19:12

oh that sounds divine! I hope it's as nice as it sounds. Are you having prosecco??

Give Dh a birthday hug from us.

We have neighbour's 2 boys for a sleepover (babysitting favour) It's going to be a looong night.
DH is cooking one of his special thai green currys for dinner.

OP posts:
hammouhouseofhorror · 11/10/2008 19:33

Hope you enjoy your dinner Guad...sounds delish.
A canal boat FullMoon, even better.

Had a thoroughly lazy day in the end.

Sill not eating brill but pasta was nice. More juices, and I might have apricots for supper, (topped with rice-pudding!).

Looking for black jeans tomorrow as Ds has decided to be a ninja! Bless!

fullmoonfiend · 11/10/2008 19:59

oh lordy, rice pudding and apricots - two of my most favourite foods...Got any spare?

OP posts:
FrayedKnot · 11/10/2008 20:54

Mmmm Guad!

Hope it's deliciously divine

I am in full PMT mode and have been snapping at everyone today. DS has been a complete PITA (tired) and DH left rather confused in the middle, I think!

Nevertheless have at last managed to find a B&B for 2 nights at half term so we are going to have a little holiday

Hope it's not too chintzy and lots of rules

I think it will be OK because the name of the proprieter is Fran

berolina · 11/10/2008 21:12

Oh bless you TooT. Sorry for insomniac and possibly slightly drunken rant.
I probably got to sleep about 5.30. dh went to a conference all day today but very kindly missed the first paper so I could get an extra hour's sleep. It was much needed to survive the day as he wasn't home until 8.30 this evening and is there again for most of tomorrow. I went with dses to local church second-hand bilingusl book sale. Mostly crap books but found a beautiful old full-music edition of the Oxford Book of Carols. Friends were there too and we sat in the garden - it is a newish church with a big, quite wild garden - while our dc played together. Was quite idyllic. We went, and came back, via the duckpond. Was a beautiful day and quite shockingly warm. ds1 and his friend pounced on the big tangles of dandelion clocks growing in the garden and scattered the seeds far and wide.

Enjoy, Guad.

berolina · 11/10/2008 21:17

oh I have a huge pile of washing to hang up. just remembered. I do not want to

fullmoonfiend · 12/10/2008 11:33

looking after 4 boys is a piece of cake!

OP posts:
FrayedKnot · 12/10/2008 16:34

Hellooo

Hope everyone is having a lovely day.

Although rather than spending it outside doing something nice we had to go shopping for coats and shoes whicvh was a bit of a bore.

Have stewed plums, made muffins & raost chicken in oven.

fullmoonfiend · 12/10/2008 17:48

Guad, sorry about the MrsC thingy on the other thread. I just never imagined finding an obvious pic for guad...!

about 6 I reckon. I did 2 hours digging and weeding though. Beautiful weather, i reckon it makes you more appreciative of the weather when it's an unexpected boon. If it were sunny all Summer we wouldn't be so pleased to see the sun now.

blither blither

I have returned to an old habit, have 2 new very sore piercings in odd places in my ear. Foolishly on the side of my head I sleep on. Ah, I used to be a slave to it back when I was trying to be cool a yoof. Now I'm all normal and stuff.

I (and DH more to the point) fear it is only a matter of time before I return to whackier areas of the body.

OsmosisBOOnana · 12/10/2008 20:45

What's all the Cod hoo-ha about then? I cannae make head nor tail. No pun intended
