For anyone who wants a boost to their general health (and to talk bobbins with a load of fruity nutters). The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Gosh, you forget what it is like to be pregnant, lucky you Pink, I do't get broody but have gone all warm and tingly from remembering. My 10 yr old DS went round his 1st choice senior school on wednesday!!!!!
Doing well with exercise but have no appetite, so drinking lots of juice.

No picture of bag, I can do the link but it won't open...perhaps my 10 yr old can help.

It is cold today but good start here, day for thermals methinks..

Is SB ok?

Hope all have a lovely weekend.

TooTicky · 27/09/2008 11:11

Boco, she sounds wonderful

Wombling, great to see you

It's Franny's birthday too y'know.

I'm quite tired.

Wet walnuts are very fresh ones that are still damp feeling. The nice ones are nice but I'm not sure about the others.

Bit concerned about my constant raging thirst/eternal weeing. And if I don't drink masses I sometimes get a slight pain in the kidney area.

Must shop a bit today. We have been eating what my grandmother calls "owt from nowt" meals most of this week. And baking with remarkably few ingredients.

I have had a beautiful card from Tatties
She should be back soon I think.

fullmoonfiend · 27/09/2008 11:33

aw shitey mcshite....
I am terrible at birthdays.

Please will all of you email me with your birthdays so I can put them on a spreadsheet! and promptly forget them as usual

HAPPY Birthday, may your weekend be filled with love, light, laughter and non-cunting mangoes...

TooTicky · 27/09/2008 11:48

And when is yours Fmf? I am terrible at birthdays

pinkspottywellies · 27/09/2008 15:05

Is Franny's Sunday too?

Apple juice, baconandeggsandwich

Guadalupe · 27/09/2008 17:11

Bugger, all these birthdays have popped up. Cards will be late this year.

Isn't it a lovely day? We are having a barbeque in a minute and then we will have a fire in the pit afterwards. I like saturdays when you feel a gin and tonic is deserved by 4.30pm. Town was hellish. Only went to have some pictures framed and buy a new bin but my god, there are some idiots about.

I am going to London next week to go shopping with dd for winter coats and boots, then we will have tea afterwards. Do you remember our lovely tea, franny and tatties? It was so delicious. I haven't forgotten that franny ate all the rounds of basil.

i have a cold. it is making my ears feel itchy but my tongue doesn't reach that far to scratch them.

Was a complete martyr good wife yesterday.

Made DH an enormous fry up for dinner (with those horrble skinned mice masquerading as plum tomatoes that he loves) and had.... wait for it.... a bowl of raw spinach and a boiled egg myself.

An inspiring dinner yes?

FrayedKnot · 27/09/2008 20:35

Evening all

Happy Birthday for tomorrow TooT!

and Franny if you are loitering, Happy Birthday too.

Good luck with your studies, Avi.

Can I ask why you are moving from that view, or are you hoping for an even better one?

TooT how much are you drinking / weeing? kidney pain sounds slightly concerning [worried]

I can;t eat walnuts, they give me stomach ache. Pity as I am a big fan of coffee & walnut cake

I think I know what you mean, though, you can buy "wet" cobnuts in these parts - they just haven't gone hard yet.

mou · 27/09/2008 20:37

Taken DD out on bike with no stabilizers again, she's a little star.
Went out on my bike, stressed.. DS attacked me,. Need a hug.
Beautiful day though and felt so much better. The views are breathtaking, and it is so peaceful.
Banana,apple juice,tomato juice,onion,sweetcorn,green beans,(nuts).

mou · 27/09/2008 20:38

p.s still no SB?

FrayedKnot · 27/09/2008 20:42

Slightly woolly nectarine
Green lentil, courgette, aubergine (home grown, hurrrah!), tomatoes in veg chilli; ornage and carrot juice; tomato and spinach soup; banana cake

Made some delicious cornbread today...is so easy, and no yeast required

Have about 1 million green toms on windowsills about the place....hoping they ripen as DH keeps muttering things about green tomato chutney

(and no, it wouldn;t be him making the chutney I can assure you)

S1ur · 27/09/2008 20:42

I had that ratatoule with all the knocked down price veg, errrr

aubergine, toms, mushrooms, courgettes, peppers, onion

on a jacket potato.

And I went to the circus. That was not so good.

And I went into town and watched a man dancing with a digger. That was awesome
Hope alls well with y'all
(gosh lots of 'll's)

hello all

TooT, have emailed you. And you fmf

Have been out all afternoon/most of the evening with the beroboys - to a stunningly gorgeous autumnal botanic garden and on to godchild's first birthday party. I am mellow and happy.

pinkspottywellies · 27/09/2008 22:49

Good luck with the house thing avi. It's a fretful time isn't it, hoping everything will fall into place at the right time.

We have another birthday girl in our midst - stuffit on Mon. What a busy weekend!

I ate a lot of runner beans, some artichokes and tomato pasta sauce. Going swimming in the morning but not real swimming - toddler swimming!

Guadalupe · 28/09/2008 09:48

happy birthday toot

happy birthday franny

Phew. How funny it is the same date, hope you both have a great day.

I have just eaten an indecent amount of cherry jam on sourdough toast. I can barely move.

S1ur · 28/09/2008 09:53

Morning all, and very happy birthday to Toot and Fran

OsmosisBanana · 28/09/2008 10:49

G'Morning.

Happy birthday TooT and Fran! Hope the weather is as nice for you as it is here.

Sadly nice weather can mean only one thing today..... The allotment from hell. Am preparing 2 hipflasks, one with gin one with lemsip. Actually gin n lemsip could prob go in the same hip flask once cool......

It was grim this morning and I was all geared up for bangers and mash and a small amount of door sanding / varnishing followed by 'The Wire' marathon.

Ah well, digging in the sunshine it is

I have my first proper lecture tomorrow. Introduction to Human Nutrition. Yay!

fullmoonfiend · 28/09/2008 17:00

OB, didn't realise you were another Land girl

I did 3 hours' digging on friday. And more tomorrow...

pinkspottywellies · 28/09/2008 17:55

Happy Birthdays birthday girls

DD has just yummed up the Singapore noodles I made for dinner (guess where the Grand Prix was today ) I thought she might not be keen (curry, soy sauce, prawns) but she tucked right in and wanted more soy sauce on - luckily I had bought the reduced salt one!

Her favourite phrase at the minute is 'don't like it', (including a 'don't like Mummy' or two this afternoon but a bit [laugh]) but I was very impressed when after dinner - with beautiful grasp of tenses I thought for a 22 month old - she said 'didn't like it'! [proud]

Had a banana, salad in sandwich and artichokes, peppers and onions in noodles. Hmm, not many. I'll fruit up tonight while I'm ironing in front of the X Factor!

OsmosisBanana · 28/09/2008 18:42

well, not exactly FMV. We've been rather crap this year due to no time or inclination but are about to be evicteddetermined to do better this year.

Yay to X factor. DH is scowling but he secretly loves it.

FrayedKnot · 28/09/2008 20:16

Happy Birthday TooT and Franny!

Hope you have both had lovely days.

The weather here has been amazing. DS was on the beach in t-shirt and pants paddling this afternoon

Pink DS loves soy sauce - I'm sure because it is salty, but it does make stir frying loads of veg and persuading him to eat it easier And I don;t use much in it, DH & I add a bit more at the table.

Talking of DS, tonight he has

  • put his school shoes in a bag and hung it out of the window over the top of a flat roof where it would be darned difficult to get them down if the bag had fallen
  • put three worms and some mud to keep them happy in his lunchbox

I think these were random things tbh not an attempt to boycott school , however
thank goodness DH discovered both activities otehrwise I would have been flying round in a major panic tomorrow morning!
