For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello

Franny did you go to the Alice thing? Are there any photos?

OB I must admit DH and I often argue about "who's turn it is" to do certain things - have lie ins, get up with DS at 6am, etc. It is getting better as DS gets older and needs less vigilant supervision as that is what is tiring. Sounds like you have some good friends though

Have had fruit salad, lettuce, cucumber, 2 plums, and awaiting DH to get home so he can cook supper, which will be pasta with roasted tomatoes and courgettes.

I have more cherry toms than I know what to do with...they have gone craaaazy

Talking of school uniform I have washed all DS's today in preparation

He is spectaculalry uninterested in it, although I think he is quite looking forward to school. He is a bit bored at nursery I think - most of the children of his age have finished now.

Is Avi about? I have positive things about Agnus Castus to report.

TooTicky · 27/08/2008 18:39

MamaG, you okay?

MamaG · 27/08/2008 20:09

Hello - yes am OK thanks. I spoke to MW who wasn't overly concerned, she said to mention it at my scan next week if I'm still itching and they'll prob do a blood test, but to ring her again if it gets worse.

FEels the same - no better, no worse.

I'm glad she wasn't panicking and saying "come and see me now!"

banana and raisins at breakfast
lettuce, tomato, spring onion at lunch
Quorn cottage pie for dinner with cauli, carrots and peas (yum)
nectarine, 2 plums and an apple for snacks

hurrah for the f&v-ness of me

filthymindedvixen · 27/08/2008 20:13

hoorah for mamag!

Too Many Plums [parp]
Victorias are on eo f my most fave fruits but such a short season I tend to glut myself..

Am pickling shallots

TigerFeet · 27/08/2008 20:53

Oh god MamaG I didn't mean to unduly scare you - I hope you are OK

fwiw my friend had no undue problems, just an induction at (I think) around 38-39 weeks to make sure there weren't any problems iyswim

glad your midwife isn't concerned

jacket spud with salad, more salad, beetroot, coleslaw

been a bit crap with the old f&v recently

SuperBunny · 27/08/2008 21:04

Glad you are ok mamag. Def use the allergic to cleaning products excuse for now.

Um, broccoli, olives, capers, 2 bananas. Halfway there

Boco · 27/08/2008 21:06

Have now watched 11 hours of The Wire. I'm like a live example of the effects of too much TV on the brain. I'm wired on coffee, jumpy, aggressive, going it alone rookie, I keep shrieking 'YOU'RE OFF THIS CASE YOU MOPE!' at the children, calling for backup on my make believe radio, getting drunk in strip bars, uncovering corruption at literally every level, it is exhausting.

muthafuckin' apricots.
punk ass freak apple.

That's it. Yo yous all wanna make something of it?

TigerFeet · 27/08/2008 21:08

Oooh I forgot about capers, I keep meaning to buy some, I have never had one.

BabiesEverywhere · 27/08/2008 21:13

What the hell are capers ?

I am panicking, my DH goes back to work tomorrow leaving me alone. Well not alone, I would be fine on my own

I will be left, in charge of a energetic toddler and a two week old boob addict newborn...argghh

TigerFeet · 27/08/2008 21:33

Capers

You either love 'em or hate 'em apparently. Like olives. Olives are the stuff of satan so we'll see.

OK so put boob addict newborn on one boob, boob addict toddler on the other, CBeebies on the goggle box and get some sleep

FrayedKnot · 27/08/2008 21:40

Strip joints in the village, Boco? Do they masquerade behing the innocent facade of the branch library or something?

BE I have no helpful advice or soothing comments only being posessed of only one DC, but I recommend lying on the sofa eating grapes and chocolate anyway, and the toddler will be delighted, I'm sure.

Also, grapes and chocolate could form the basis of a perfectly decent evening meal I reckon...

talking of which...

Dear veggers, I need some ideas for meals that I can cook at 6pm and DH can eat later....

He is going to be working late for the next few weeks and I struggle to find things that will keep if necessary, I don;t want to cook twice, and it's not casserole weather....

Guadalupe · 27/08/2008 21:40

Capers are flower buds of the sea.

Boco - Move away from the television.

FMV - They are all moaning big time on thr solfest board aren't they? Why do people think they could arrive late on Friday and camp in their chosen spot.

Guadalupe · 27/08/2008 21:43

blimey, now there's a thread saying there were too many kids and some toddlers were fighting near his tent over an inflatable and the parents did nothing.

peasoup · 27/08/2008 21:59

Guadalupe Where's the Solfest board? I'd love to read about it/join in, etc. I went, and I've got nothing at all to moan about it!! (Except my 2 year old DS buggering off for thirty minutes with his 5 yr old friend and giving me a bloody heart attack. Had all the stewards radioing each other looking for them- "2 year old boy with a bob and a big head missing, wearing blue hoody and combats, accompanied by 5 yr old blond girl wearing something pink, over")
No problems getting to camp where i wanted {smug, knows someone on the gate emoticon}

Guadalupe · 27/08/2008 22:19

I mentioned you further down this thread! That's so weird!! There can't be another person that lost their two year old for an hour can there?

We chatted by the sandpit about it. Your ds wouldn't get out, he wanted to stay and dig and you didn't.

It's the message forum on the main solfest website btw. There's all sorts of moaning.

peasoup · 27/08/2008 22:34

OMG! Of course that was me! Wow; i managed to chat to another Mumsnetter and didn't even know it. I must admit I did have a little look round that kid's arena once or twice and think to myself "Hmmm, wonder which one of them Mums is a Mums Netter"
I'd seen your name on a "Who's going to Solfest?" thread a week or two ago and i did post and say "I am!" but by then i think everyone had got into their cars and started the trip up there as noone responded. How bizarre that we met- i can't remember what you look like, but i'm gonna have a good hard think to see if i remember. I do, however, definately remember the conversation. There were about three instances over the weekend of him not getting out of the sandpit, however. LOL.
What day was that? I'm gonna now reread this thread and see where you mentioned me; how exciting!

TooTicky · 27/08/2008 22:41

MrsC, are you recruiting vegetable people?

Splendid flan with spinach, courgette, leek, garlic, potato, tomato.
Lettuce, tomato, cucumber.
HUNGARIAN APPLE CAKE.

womblingalong · 27/08/2008 23:00

Hello,

Now if anyone had mentioned fruit pastilles, that would have got me out of lurkerdom!

How the deil is everyone.

MrsC and FMV, loely to see you had a good time, and that ou managed to meet up/camp together!

TooT, how are your brood, did you make a decision about DS2? If you have I have managed to miss it, sorry.

OB, that sounds like one hellof an eventful festival!

Boco, you sound wired! Maybe you need a calming cup of camomile tea? Sounds like a good series though.

am quite jealous of all these mini meet ups, I don't seem to have enough time to MN these days, let alone do meet ups!

Have finally finished gutting and rebuilding a new bedroom for DD. We finished painting in the middle of the night last Friday, then sent Saturday cleaning it and moving furniture in so she could sleep in it that night. Then it was straight into birthday party prep, as she was 4 this Monday.

We had a birthday picnic for 21 children, we pitched loads of tents in a country park, and decorated them, and then they played games: egg and spoon races etc, followed by a treasure hunt and a birthday tea al-fresco. it was exhausting but all seemed to enjoy it.

We had a gazebo up over them while they were having their food, and it kept threatening to blow away, despite emergency measures with parcel tape, eventually loads f dads had to stand around, holding the gazebo together so it wouldn't collapse on the children - lol!

womblingalong · 27/08/2008 23:09

and now I am talking to myself - typical bad timing! Night all.

SuperBunny · 28/08/2008 00:48

LOL @ Boco

You should come here. You'd fit right in Da Hood. There was a shooting last night. Again. I had hoped it was fireworks but the sudden screaching of police cars appearing out of nowhere from every direction within seconds makes me think my initial suposition was right.

Toot, what's hungarian Apple cake? I may need a recipe.

What a lovely party, wombling

Broccoli
Olives
Cantaloupe
Bananas (3)
Tomatoes
Bluebs
Raspbs
Juice

Morning.

I am here but not, really. I cannot keep up with you all atm.

The ds2 side of work went really very well and he was fine with dh and one lunchtime bf visit per day. Despite big project I do not always necessarily have to do 3.5 days from next week either it will be decided from week to week with my (new) manager, who is very nice and patient but almost certainly getting extremely fed up with showing me computery stuff I can't do.

berolina · 28/08/2008 08:26

Oh I sit eating fruit all morning, hence back in some kind of 10/10ishness.

Going to orthopaedist today to ask to be prescribed physio.
