For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Yes, and it goes beyond clothes anyway - shoes, bags, coats, how many pokemon cards etc

TooTicky · 25/08/2008 22:21

Oh yes. And modernity of games console (We have none - largely principle but part skintness I suppose).
Right, must take my dcs to bed now that they are clean!

BBBee · 26/08/2008 00:58

toot- i think i got ours from sainsburys - might be good for you because they do this adjustable waist thing with elastic that you choose how tight it goes.

I have just had some green and blacks hot chocolate. Was wonderful.

I know I have asked her loads of times, but want reminding about how she changed her eating plan as is good for keeping me on track.

Oh I hope you are all in bed and resting, apart from boco who I hope is up late with her brother drinking sloe gin and playing games.

zippitippitoes · 26/08/2008 01:01

i did a y for dgs the other day as he wanted to write his name the first time i did it with a v hape and he said thats not it

so i did it with a u shape and he said oh yes thats right grandma

SuperBunny · 26/08/2008 03:24

Well done on being able to do a 'y' zippi

My mum taught DS to do a 'D' which he can do perfectly. It seems I am crap at teaching my own child how to write. We tried a 'y' today but it doesn't look remotely like one. It is suspciously like a random scribble. Then we progressed onto, "Can you draw an itchy foot mummy? Now draw air? Will you draw the dark? Can you draw the outside now?" My drawing skills are rather limited so this was a bit of a stretch

BBBee who has good eating habits that you want to hear about? I need to hear some too.

FrannyandZooey · 26/08/2008 08:09

i am guessing it is zippi who has good eating skills
UR they always learn things quicker from one's mother

banana
mango
raisins
apple

TooT what a walk!

ds1 trying to learn how to write 'Daddy' and our address
bit of a challenge tbh as he only knows about 10 letters
seems to have taught himself to write all the numbers though - am hoping this is how home ed will go as I have definitely not taught him so I think he picked it up himself
maybe nursery did it? oh well

ds2 is the noisiest baby I have ever met
he hoots and growls and coos all night
he spends half the time waking himself up by smacking himself on the head
and has learnt to wriggle so I am wedged up in 6 inches of bed with him in my armpit
oh the joys of co-sleeping

we are going to try to go to a.m. mayhem again
I forgot to tell you about it
(another activity at the leisure centre)
it was VERY mixed
big hall with large bouncy castle in - so far so good
then some balls lying around and a few basket ball nets - ok
and some hoops - bit of a yawn...
and 'make a crown' on a table in a corner - zzzzzzzz

this was all well and good but we were not expected to stay and play with them (I did as ds1 did not want to be left) and all the staff were as usual teenagers who were standing around chatting

a bouncy castle and some balls and hoops do not really have immense play value if you don't know any other children and no adults are playing with you

anyway after hour of this a member of staff ds knew from cricket turned up and he did actually play with the children a bit. Then did some parachute games and circle games which ds LOVED and he has begged to go again

but speaking to other mothers no-one was impressed
again it could have been quite good but was actually mostly dull and inept through staff not doing anything much
am v glad I didn't have to leave ds there as would have felt very sad to dump him in hige room with a few footballs and some teenagers who didn't speak to him!

franny - how lovely - those sleeping noises are divine aren't they. Does he still have marvellous cheeks?

yes - it was zippi I meant. I know she did an eating overhaul that worked well. I know we talk mainly about health on here but for vainty reasons I want to shift some weight.

FrannyandZooey · 26/08/2008 08:25

they are divine but they go on ALL NIGHT
I do have this little habit called sleeping that I like to indulge in myself from time to time
dp considering earplugs

his cheeks superb of course
need you ask
did I tell you ds1 said "can we enter him in a baby show as he would be sure to win a rosette"?

OP posts:
BBBee · 26/08/2008 08:25

yes - I read your other post about that - it sounds crap you know. It annoys me and feels exploitative.

TooTicky · 26/08/2008 08:47

Good morning.
Dd2 was up in the night for two wees and about 800 gallons of milk. I am feeling empty-breasted and slightly chewed. We may consider the W-word.
She has now come to share eat my breakfast.

Bee, I am confused. Surely you are not finding Franny's ds2 making night noises into her armpit exploitative? I think my brain is still in bed.

Franny, I know just what you mean about the loveliness but also actually needing to sleep.

Good luck with the mayhem.

TooTicky · 26/08/2008 08:52

Bee, the devil's own shop Sainsbury's, eh? I don't think any of the ones around here do clothes actually.
I think it will prob be M&S as they do have some ethics, although I am a bit about their new "value" uniforms. They say their supply chain is good, but surely somebody is being exploited.

fullmoonfiend · 26/08/2008 10:15

where is MrsC??

more melon and some blueberres and apple juice. I it possible to feel vitamin deprived after 4 days?

A friend told my housesitrting friend she is coming to see me today (she has not told me yet). She is coming from Wales but my hiouse is a tip and I have a zillion loads of washing to do. AIBU not to answer to phone today? You may remember she did the same thing to me in May when she announced she was comning to stay with son and dog with 12 hours' notice...
I am too tired to be sociable today.
And I want to pickle my shallots (Not a euphamism )

Franny ds2 was very snorty and chuntery and noisy in bed. Sympathy.

Love you all!

zippitippitoes · 26/08/2008 10:30

and absolutely no alcohol, sweet things crisps chips or other extraneous treats and no ready made food

Guadalupe · 26/08/2008 13:46

Hello

Zippi - I would like to lose soome weight but it's the absolutely extraneous treats that do me every time. And the wine.

I am on a detox after today though. I am quite toxic. I had a shocking f and v intake at the festival, I think I totalled two portions over the whole thing and ingested all sorts of crap.

We had such a good time. I am slightly glum at being home and on the countdown to school. A festival with a toddler was hard work but it was worth it. Ds1 really enjoyed the freedom and got on with FMV's brilliantly. We all did. We camped together and it was fab. Poor FMV was treated to the full range of my neuroses at various points as well as a row with dh where I called him an arsehole on the hill at the Sofest Ceidleh but other than that we had a marvellous time. I miss them now.

I am starting after today as we bought loads of cheese on the way home and I need to eat it.

Boco · 26/08/2008 14:05

Hello
Glad you had a good time Guad. Sorry about the arsehole bit. Glad about the cheese bit though, I've just eaten a whole thing of gorgonzola and I feel a bit wrong.

My phone isn't letting me reply to texts, it's just queuing them up and saying that they're sending but not. Is it really ok for tomorrow? I have an alternative if it's too much.

Bee nearly right about brother, we stayed up late watching the first series of the Wire and drinking that deadly home brew. It's not fair though, he gets to lie in bed all morning whereas I get jumped on at seven. Anyone seen The Wire? is good.

fullmoonfiend · 26/08/2008 14:06

Guad, you don't need to lose any weight.

(I'm still hiding from demanding friend. And just had a mini row with dh who has just agreed to work tomorrow and thursday, when he was supposed to be looking after the boys. Am feverishly ringing friends to see if they will have them.)
On the plus side, have had melon, blueberries, orange juice and home made carrot, onion and lentil soup. and a Snickers I am sooo hungry today.

SuperBunny · 26/08/2008 14:17

Sleep noises are always better when it is not your baby making them all night.

Zippi your food rules sound good. I just made a picnic for me & DS today and I think it breaks almost all of them. Will start tomorrow...

Hiding from demading friends is perfectly acceptable imho.

I had the bright idea of taking DS to a farm today - one of those living history places. But it is in the burbs so I have an hour drive to get there I love the city but the countryside is sooo far away and I miss green things and cows. Do you know, I've only seen a cow in a field ONCE in the 5 yrs I've been here. And NO pigs or sheep except in the zoo or at the County Fair.

Guadalupe · 26/08/2008 14:20

Yes, tomorrow really is fine. You need to get those double lessons in and they will be back at school soon. Ha ha at me encouraging you to get on with the driving. I need to do it myself.

Guadalupe · 26/08/2008 14:23

My jeans are too tight, FMV, I would like to feel a bit more comfortable in them, in fact some of them won't do up! Lucky I have a nice dress to go over them.

Very annoying about your work problem. I would look after them you were closer.

fullmoonfiend · 26/08/2008 14:30

ah, those darned shrinking jeans...

ds2 has just declared he would rather be flushed down the toilet than go to school 'fun club' for the day. Ho hum. At least that would solve the child care problem....

TooTicky · 26/08/2008 14:33

Does your local leisure centre have activities, Fmf?

fullmoonfiend · 26/08/2008 14:38

not all day, no. And the last time I left them there for 2 hours, I was less than impressed to find the children shut in a dingy classroom with a pile of broken board games. Apparently this was 'free play'. The staff were texting their mates while Lord of The Flies was re-enacted int he corner by the children, aged 5-11 with no age banding. Hence ds2 coming back asking me ''am I gay?''

TooTicky · 26/08/2008 14:44

Oh dear

Have just been out to watch the swallows and starlings gathering and swooping. Are they early this year?
