For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg herehere and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Ooh I've thought of a new title ready for next time. Are we giving up on birth related ones? She's obviously never going to have it

I meant Franny'll have the baby by the next new thread

Who has seen Juno? It's from that so the song probably hasn't got terribly wide appeal but.... ....

'you're a part time vegger and a full time friend'

OsmosisBanana · 17/07/2008 16:46

like it

FrayedKnot · 17/07/2008 17:03

'Lo

TooT I haven;t actually ever given MIL anything like that and it is food for thought...will get back to you

Franny perhaps glowy lady can help

Or would you reconsider the acupuncture?

It doesn;t hurt, honest

It sort of tingles.

LL I am a bit speechless about DH

And very for you.

FrannyandZooey · 17/07/2008 17:35

we are out of cash to spend on baby shifting therapies, unfortunately
I could just stick skewers in random parts of me? it would probably be more pleasant than the other thing that EVERYBODY wants to recommend I do, constantly

UnderRated · 17/07/2008 17:46

LOL Avi. That's a great idea.

Wholewheat pitta pesto pizza with olives and capers. Dried Cranberries.

FrannyandZooey · 17/07/2008 17:54

lettuce from the garden, cucumber, tomatoes, basil, red peppers, loads of avocado, chickpeas, black-eyed beans, veg sausages and mozzarella salad

she is ringing me tomorrow morning I will ask to go in and be monitored

TooTicky · 17/07/2008 18:05

Look on the bright side Franny. If you were an elephant, you'd have another two and a quarter years to go.

is no-one laughing at my crap jokes anymore...

FrannyandZooey · 17/07/2008 18:07

if I was an elephant, all the other elephants would think my huge wrinkly belly was absolutely fabulous and the most desirable thing ever known to elephantkind

berolina · 17/07/2008 18:10

Have a lovely time, Boco.

Oh Lully oh dear. That is really beyond acceptable. Don't think I have any useful advice, sadly, but would some righteous anger on your behalf help a little?

Salad - mixed leaves, red pepper, carrot, sunflower seeds. Leftover tomato and basil sauce. Rest of said carrot. dh is doing me pasta in homegrown herb butter for supper, but we all had lunch together today (dh is at home frantically writing his paper for next week's conference for me to translate) so will eat when dses - or ds1 at least - are/is in bed.

Is avocado nice, Franny? My parents sometimes used to serve it up as a starter, but I've always had a horror of it - irrationally, AFAIK, as I don't think I've ever had it.

Avocados are yummy, Bero but I hated them when I was little. The do have an odd texture but, if you get a good one, they are soft and creamy and taste a bit, um, green. I love them. DS does not.

UnderRated · 17/07/2008 18:17

TooEarly, who are you?

FrannyandZooey · 17/07/2008 18:21

I like them Bero, if properly ripe
they are mild and creamy - so good for you also

TooTicky · 17/07/2008 18:21

They must be ripe but not too ripe. Definitely not stringy.
Gorgeous in a sandwich with tomato, spinach, fried mushrooms...mmmmmm.....smoked tofu if it takes your fancy

Fmv, sorry. I forget to laugh in RL too. The dcs tell me off

OP posts:
berolina · 17/07/2008 18:23

oh, I will have to try one then. What are they nice with? Or shall I puree and have with pitta bread and hummus (however you spell it)?

UnderRated · 17/07/2008 18:24

I chop mash them and put them on bread

or make into guacamole

Or chop up and eat in chunks or put on quinoa with mango

berolina · 17/07/2008 18:24

Oh TooT, that sounds lovely - apart from the smoked tofu bit. I can't do smoked. I have a friend who loves smoked tea and I find it hard to drink my Earl Grey while she is having some.

Guadalupe · 17/07/2008 18:25

Pink - is that you?

We are just putting up a borrowed travel cot to see if it works better. The sides come higher up on him so fingers crossed. It's this or a stairgate on the door.

berolina · 17/07/2008 18:26

x posts with UR. Sounds lovely too. Quinoa! ds1's former kindergarten had quinoa once a week, which was a major plus point.
