For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Evening. Am sitting with a very wakeful ds2 and wanting my evening shower.

Oh Boco the head sounds rather vindictive tbh. MrsC has made some excellent points. I'd call head's bluff.

TooT, I'm sorry about horrid rent rise and about ds2. Will email you.

We saw another Lovely Kindergarten this afternoon. Am in a dilemma. I think Lovely Kindergarten 1 has the edge overall, because of the project work they do, them being a bit closer to us and the long wooden table for all the children in the big kitchen , but Lovely Kindergarten 2 is in a slightly nicer setting, they have a plot in a gardening school thing nearby and do pre-school work. Both have a music bloke called Uwe who comes once a week and sounds fab. I liked the teachers at LK1 a little better, but liked the LK2 one (the other wasn't there) very much too. The BIG worry is that LK1's sandpit (they both have big sandpits out the front) is just on the (wide) pavement, with no fence to the road. The road itself is quiet, and a child would have to climb out of the sandpit to go onto the road, and of course someone's wih them when they're ou there, but it could happen so easily, couldn't it? LK2's sandpit is in a proper front yard thing with a low fence and gate - so at least a psychological barrier to dashing out on impulse. Am going to speak to LK1 aout it again tomorrow, because it is my favourite, but I'm not sure I'd relax for a minute while he was there tbh Opinions?

raw chocolate with goji whotsit shit in muesli but nice in choc

when is doula back, Franny? Isn't it part of her contract to be here around your due date?

berolina · 09/07/2008 20:58

oh, LK2 teacher, after standing chatting to me and watching ds1 playing in the sandpit for a few mins, said 'I like him'

FrannyandZooey · 09/07/2008 20:59

she's back Sunday afternoon
yes she "asked my permission" about this - it is her 10th wedding anniversary and I didn't really feel it was in the best interests for our relationship to say no, really

she has arranged a back up who is also very nice - in fact dp prefers her I think - she is not the sort to send emails about being a strong beautiful woman, put it that way

Bero, LK2 sounds good to me. The teacher's comment was nice, and the safety issue with number 1 - would you ever relax?

Franny, we will send you strengthening emails over the weekend.

Guadalupe · 09/07/2008 21:10

Hmm, yes, I think I would have said 'yes' too, tricky though. Maybe whoever is there will be for the best. Think of it that way.

Guadalupe · 09/07/2008 21:13

I am going to watch that free birthing on channel five now, you probably shouldn't watch, Franny, mind you, you haven't got tv have you?

TooTicky · 09/07/2008 21:13

I have emailed Avi, thank you

Thanks for landlord information too, will look into it.

Right, must settle children...

FrannyandZooey · 09/07/2008 21:14

no, I would like to know more about it, but seeing as is c5, it is hardly going to be well researched unbiased stuff is it?

I think I forgot to answer Tatties
Tatties I had a sweep with ds, I don't think he was ever coming out otherwise

I think you are right TooT. LK2 teacher was very lovely (I reckon there was a bit of expat bonding going on there too as she wasn't a native speaker of German either - I think). Well, LK1 ones were too, and they would definitely like us to join, so it's all very difficult. The other LK2 teacher, who I didn't meet, is 59 and retiring after next year, so ds1 will then have someone new to get used to, but I think it's quite nice that he'll have a (for want of a better word) grandmotherly influence there.

Guadalupe · 09/07/2008 21:32

true, but I will watch it anyway and see how they cope with all the legal stuff. Is it illegal?

When your doula gets back can you find a new baby to hold? That helped me twice when I was overdue. Obviously a friends baby rather than askings some randon stranger in the supermarket.

FrannyandZooey · 09/07/2008 21:38

it's illegal for anyone else to be there with you who isn't a midwife

I don't think I know any new babies
I don't know
I don't get out much lately

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 09/07/2008 21:52

yes, they just said that actually, it isn't illegal for you to do it but any other person there can be prosecuted.

The channel five angle is clearly that they are weirdos, it keep saying, 'despite blah blah having access to a midwife and hospital services they have chosen to give birth alone'. They seem quite straightforward ones so far.

You do get out much!! You are always out and about. Hover by some new babies in prams or something, well, next week.

FrayedKnot · 09/07/2008 21:54

What so if you give birth at home before a midwife can get there and so no-one is in attendance apart from your DP, they could be prosecuted?

FrayedKnot · 09/07/2008 21:58

I mean in theory

yes if you do it on purpose FK
I think what most people do is phone immediately after (before cord is cut) and say "oh help come now the baby is coming oh dear" and then when the midwife arrives, it's too late
