For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

um, er, maybe they like standing wistfully and damp-haired on a hilltop waiting for their love to charge past and deflower them, or at least offer an umbrella.

Hmm, ok, islands and rivers and FRUITS! Fruit likes the rain.

OsmosisBanana · 09/07/2008 13:25

phew. I do not have the time to think of a song / book / sonnett that you could be referring to.

sonnett? sonet? sonett? sonnet? aaarrrrggghhh!

Think must be sonnet.

Tatties · 09/07/2008 14:32

Hello all

Franny you went into labour naturally last time didn't you? (And I take it you didn't have a sweep?) I bet you won't get to 14 days.

Boco · 09/07/2008 15:33

I think I have trench foot - I've got absolutely soaked this afternoon - twice, need to hunt out winter footware again as flimsly shoes with holes in not cutting it.

Guada - no, it's good! Dd1 does love skirts - she's not as fussy as dd2 so she will wear trousers, but she'll love it all. Dd2 has tried everything on at once - and the t-shirt and rust coloured skirt fit - adn the dress, although dd1 will fight her for that, but she'll still get to wear them all, just not yet! So thanks it's great.

littlerach · 09/07/2008 15:50

Will the rain ever end?

Tomatoes
Cucmebr
cherries
Nectarine

Dd1 has had a talk by the Widlife Trust at school and has lot of Ideas about how ot save the world -sweet.

TooRTicky, are you going to Bowood for the Levellers?
I am considering it, if we can find osmeone ot have the girls for us. Which is probably impossibel

FrayedKnot · 09/07/2008 15:52

God the rain is foul. I don;t mind the occasional downpour then dries up quickly stuff we have been having but this all day wet rain is trying.

I am a damp and knotted bit of string but rain just makes me even damper and knottier

I needed to go to bed earlier than I did last night. But the flapjack was worth it

Actually how do you make banana & chocolate flapjack?

Franny....no experience of being overdue so will just nod respectfully..

OsmosisBanana · 09/07/2008 15:57

cripes. Rain has stopped. Hopefully for long enough for me to trudge up to nursery.

Beautiful Days has sold out..... Bums. Lucky for me I have a guest pass. Not so lucky for DH who doesn't. Arf arf.

Boco · 09/07/2008 16:00

My Latitude ticket is back on, things ok with friend, but relationship with brother in a bit of a crisis - and it'll be a long time before dp and brother are in the same place at the same time

filthymindedvixen · 09/07/2008 16:22

at guest pass!! how come?

OsmosisBanana · 09/07/2008 16:30

My best friend used to go out with Neil and they caught up at Glasto.

Boco · 09/07/2008 16:58

Oh BLOODY HELL

the evil head won't let me take dd out of school on the fri adn mon for the festival. She's written a really arsey letter saying that if i do it will be reported as unauthorised! They have a policy that children are allowed 10 days a year - she's allowed everyone else I know who is going - only mine she's turned down! Am rage filled. Cow.

lionheart · 09/07/2008 17:05

Hello, 10/10ers.

Boco this is getting ridiculous

Tatties no I had a sweep at 40+9 last time, ds born next day
they were very keen to get him out I must say - I had to kind of dig my heels in to get that far - they don't seem to give a hoot this time and say I don't need to see a consultant or anything, so that's good

I haven't been out so have just looked mournfully at the rain
and done craft stuff and baking with ds
and tried not to be grumpy but not succeeded
mind you he is REALLY pushing my buttons, on purpose

oh Boco! I am horrified at her pettiness. I took dsses out fri and mon for festival with less than a week's notice (I aaranged my time off and completely forgot about boys) and it was authorised the same day, even though I wrote ''and I know it's really late notice and I expect you'll say no but I have to try anyway...'' on the form!

Maybe it is cos I is a governeor

Guadalupe · 09/07/2008 18:14

boco, you don't mind getting one day's unauthorised absence do you?

Why, I usually have a week's worth per year

I get quite a lot authorised, like last week even though I handed in the form as we drove off, I claimed family time needed after the op, but we usually have a week or so that they may or may not agree to. Most of my friends have this too. We always joke, have you got the letter or the leaflet, the leaflet being the goverment's advice on how this day off will damage your child forever and ruin their life chances and all that. Toss it in the bin.

Boco · 09/07/2008 18:15

Really? And do they give you a hard time about the unauthorised - do you get a letter with how many unauthorised a year? And has the head threatened you with fines?

Guadalupe · 09/07/2008 18:17

I mean, other people are going, and the authorisation is at the head's discretion. You could cite on these grounds that her discretion is unreasonable.

I stopped caring after we were refused a week for ds1 to spend with a private dslexia tutor when he was really struggling the same week that another girl in the class was granted it to go skiiing, because you can't ski out of season now. They are not God and it is so arbitrary half the term.

TooTicky · 09/07/2008 18:18

Ooh Avi, either would be wonderful - oh dear,I am not good at decisions...

Oh dear Boco, will 2 unauthorised absences matter really?

LittleRach, I will not be going to see the Levellers unless we suddenly and miraculously develop more money.

Land lord has put up rent by £100. Annoying thing is it was only because I filled in one of those energy survey things, it transpired that as a rented property it could get free insulation, one of the clauses was that the rent stayed the same for 12 months, and that gave him the idea. Oh, and we won't be getting the insulation of course.

I am TIRED and I have a COLD.

FrannyandZooey · 09/07/2008 18:20

oh TooT! the rotter
what a lot of cads and fuckwits in the world

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 09/07/2008 18:20

you get a leaflet IME, and then on the report you have the numbers so it will say somewhere tiny, two unauthorised absences. You may fall over weeping, but we will help you through it.

Guadalupe · 09/07/2008 18:21

Toot, what a shit!

Boco · 09/07/2008 18:23

Fuck toot that's awful, what a bastard landlord.

Maybe I'm just imagining unauthorised absences as much worse than they are - when head told me about them before she said I could be fined a lot of money and go on permanent record.

And in this letter she has sent me she said I well be reported to the education welfare officer.

You lot make it sound like nothing though - so I don't understand.

TooTicky · 09/07/2008 18:26

Boco, really and truly the authorities have their hands full chasing parents who don't give a shit. They are just trying to scare you.
