For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

The children will get up in the morning and wonder where it all went

Can one eat raw broad beans?

Tatties · 08/07/2008 22:54

Oh oh! I'm halfway through my first ever crochet square thingy!

FrayedKnot · 08/07/2008 22:57

I love it Tatties. I hate having to miss it, and wish I could do it several times a week, if not every day.

It is energizing and relaxing at the same time, and I always feel super calm when I finish the class. I also find it quite physically challenging, which is good because I realize how much less flexible I am now than I used to be and starting to regain some flexibility is a nice feeling - it makes you feel younger!

I would highly recommend it to everyone.

I eat broad beans in salad TooT but I usually blanch them first for a minute or two. I'm sure raw are fine though.

TooTicky · 08/07/2008 22:59

Hooray!!

I have crochet frustration atm, want to make a cardigan for dd2 to replace one she is rather desperately growing out of but has suddenly become fond of, have found half decent pattern in library book but don't have enough of anything to actually make it.
Local wool shop is naff, although they have taken down their unfriendly notices.
Will have to try market on Thursday and hope. Oh, and a different library for more patterns...

Tatties · 08/07/2008 23:00

FK I think I definitely need to start doing something like that again.

Avi I don't know if I will get that far! I am just learning on this square atm, but I'd love to be able to do a blanket

Tatties · 08/07/2008 23:03

What unfriendly notices TooT? What kind of yarn do you need? Is it something you can make in different colours? I can have a root around my stash to see if I have anything going spare if you like

TooTicky · 08/07/2008 23:08

They used to have signs saying, "DO NOT ALLOW CHILDREN TO TOUCH THE WOOL". So I boycotted them for a while.

Um, I need DK of some kind. I have such a hotchpotch of weights and materials, much of it bought in charity shops so not much of anything. If you did have anything, I could swap for...um...something?

Tatties · 08/07/2008 23:15

Nice!

Well without looking, I know I have dk cotton (several balls but all different colours)

Well, they say 300g of Cashsoft, whatever that is, but in cotton, judging by what is suggested for another pattern, that could be as much as 450g.

I would be v. grateful if either of you did have something that you could genuinely spare....

TooTicky · 08/07/2008 23:22

Sorry, forgot to say DK!

UnderRated · 09/07/2008 01:12

I like 'puree wand'

Avi, Am glad you survived the camping. I always worry that I will have a 'crimson patch' incident. Mine is so unpredictable and often starts with no warning so it is quite likely, I think. I'm not due for a couple of weeks - I'm still roughly in synch with the moon.

Toot's flapjacks sound yummy.

I love crocheting. Must get back into it. Well done for starting, Tatties.

Bananas (3)
Raspberry jam
grapes
strawberry juice
peas
blueberries (1.5)

8.5 Gah! 10 is increasingly difficult.

FrannyandZooey · 09/07/2008 08:20

you all had tea and flapjacks when I had gone to bed, you gits
(TooT I am JOKING)

Avi my doula is away from Thursday to Monday so I don't want to have it on Sunday, thank you
think open open open today and then CLOSED again
I know this is getting quite complicated, I shall draw a chart with different colours etc

mango, raisins, pear, melon, 3 kiwis = 5

morning all

sunflower seed bread, apple juice, am currently eating leftover peppers/rice ('tis Mittag-time here)

We have seen a kindergarten I have fallen desperately in love with and one I adored the sound of but found a real disappointment. The teacher emphasised how many other parents they had coming to look round (1 place available) and asked me nosy questions about our current kindergarten literally before I was properly in We are going for a trying-out morning at Lovely Kindergarten next week. Are going with ds1 in tow to look at another this afternoon.

TigerFeet · 09/07/2008 11:21

Morning all

I am in sync with the moon too UR. As is most of the rest of MN I reckon I have a week or so yet.

Broad beans are vile

Good luck with the lovely kindergarten Bero.

Franny, just to confirm, it's open until tomorrow, then closed until Monday, rummage, more opening thoughts?

I am driving to Bracknell later, whereupon I will spend a night at a Travelodge, meeting first thing in the morning and then drive back. I am in the company of a colleague that I don't have a lot of time for. Hopefully a few hours in her company will fix that otherwise I am in for a mightily dull trip.

I am having a bad morning. A friend has massively screwed her life up.

Cake
Cheese Butties

Will eat f&v later, I promise.

Boco · 09/07/2008 11:57

Hello.
Just had a driving lesson in torrential rain on dual carriageways - I had to keep overtaking lorries and there was all the spray and the constant big roundabouts and the fastness and everything, I think I whimpered throughout. I was so relieved to have survived I've eaten an entire packet of caramel slices. They were really nice, but now i feel a bit sick.

Guadalupe! Thanks for the clothes - they're all going to fit dd1, which is brilliant because then they'll do dd2 next year too! Thankyou - they're all really lovely xx

Toots I MUST send your clothes, the pile has grown, I may send them in 2 batches.

How are you franny?

FrannyandZooey · 09/07/2008 12:10

Oh god Boco that is making me feel shaky just thinking about it

TigerFeet sorry about friend. Is it permanent?

yes we are open NOW, then closed from about lunchtime tomorrow, then rummage on Monday OPEN OPEN OPEN OPEN in through the window with a crowbar OPEN, tadaah, baby

well that is the theory

Boco I am ok thank you. Dp took ds to nursery so I haven't had to walk anywhere yet - that always improves the day tbh. Then I went back to bed. This afternoon it is raining like anything and I need to go out somewhere to keep ds out of dp's hair, so not so good, but better than yesterday.

I am really hungry but they are out getting a bike bit. The one dp broke about 3 weeks ago while falling over trying to ride his new bike with silly pedal bits. So he'll be coming in again all bloody tonight I would imagine after putting the new bit on and having another go

Boco · 09/07/2008 12:16

Why are you closing again at lunchtime tomorrow?

Have you decided what to do IF you get to 14 days over? Are you going to keep on going or be, you know..? Sorry if that's a sore point. I became really obsessed with that 14 days past point and got a bit frantic with dd2, tried so many things which didn't really work enough - if I could go back and do it again I'd have not bothered and then been in a better state to hold off on the induction a bit longer - but I suppose hindshite is all very well.

FrannyandZooey · 09/07/2008 12:23

we're closing tomorrow as doula going away for weekend

yes don't worry I am thinking about it a lot too
erm in theory I am just going to have sweeps every 2 days until it comes
and be serene and not care and trust my body and do Expectant Management and things
but in theory I think I will be wobbly and panic and have an induction shortly after 2 weeks
I have read all the stuff and the risks are low
but there are increased risks, they can monitor you each day but that only gives reassurance for that half hour per day, I am pretty sure I ovulated EARLY the month I conceived, and I think I have already used up my store of serene bravery not having the anomaly scan tbh
