Cantaloupe, cantaloupe! Will you eat the bad mango? - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Dp has made his own websites. It seems to involve a lot of swearing though

Boco · 21/06/2008 11:23

I did ask on the illustrators thread, as lots of them have lovely sites, but no answers yet. I did ask Lapin a while ago actually but I can't remember the answer. I think she did recommend one must ask again and concentrate this time.

FRANNY I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
Am cuddling package. Ds1 squeaked, "I want some!"
Am desperately hoping dd2 will go to sleep so I can investigate properly!
Oh, and dd1 wants the recipe......

TooTicky · 21/06/2008 11:51

Cut and rune sounds mystical

Oh, more saddle-type incidents would make good reading....

TooTicky · 21/06/2008 12:32

I have just eaten part of a rooibos tea bag. Does that count? [hopeful]
I was deploring the fact that dp uses so much sugar in his coffee and said that if he really liked it he'd just crunch it up.
So he handed me a tea bag.
And I ate some.
So he ate some coffee.
He came off worst!!
Mine just took a lot of chewing.
He made faces.

LullyOfShallot · 21/06/2008 12:33

hope dd is ok Boco
Has the doc been?

TooTicky · 21/06/2008 12:37

Oh yes, it was noon wasn't it?

LullyOfShallot · 21/06/2008 12:40

uuuugggghhh at eating tea bag

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2008 13:43

Avi I don't think I will, unless I get to the point where I think I might do him harm otherwise (well lose the plot totally anyway)

I hadn't thought about the baby coming thing - I don't think so - I think he is just feeling slightly insecure as I am not giving him much attention, am tired, grumpy, dp probably ditto, and we keep trying to push him off to do things with other people / at other places. Of course we really NEED him to go and do these things so the pressure is there and I am sure he knows it.

He had a fab time at sports this morning! I stayed the whole time which we always do but he has been nervy and missed the last 2 weeks anyway. We've done a lot of talking about feeling scared of things but doing them anyway. The feeling doesn't last forever. I was so pleased he was happy joining in today - I find it hard to just say "oh it doesn't matter" if he doesn't want to, because of the home ed thing I think. You get this awful vision of him being 12 and never doing anything without us, which of course is bollocks but sort of haunts you.

Hello!

Good veg day again yesterday and an hour in soft play. DD kept finding her way to the top of the Big Slide then not wanting to come down on her own. I would then sprint up after her

Today so far I have had an apple, a nectarine, a teeny tiny portion of rhubarb in a mullerice and some avocado and tomato in my bacon sandwich. But plenty of time to work on that! Oh just remembered I was going to make the chocolate loaf cake!

Boco, your picture is wonderful! Did you ever contact Phoenix cards? It's the kind of thing they would go for I think.

How are you doing Franny, not long now, eh?!

fullmoonfiend · 21/06/2008 14:41

only eaten pancakes stuffed with tomato, cheese, homegrown spinach - but blardy nice.

Raining here a lot which is as I only got an hour on allotment. House is a tip but I can't seem to get motivated indoors.
Bongo was supposed to be ready today but dvla are dragging their heels so won't be able to get it until wed

It has been named Billy Bongo already!

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2008 14:59

I think if you did a picture like that with a number on it would make a fabulous birthday card Boco
a different one for each number of course

new baby cards would also be nice, and how about get well cards, etc etc

I had strawberries, nectarine, raisins and melon for breakfast: 4

been unsuccessfully decorating a pottery plant pot with ds - paint from a squeezy bottle seems to just sink in? even if you slap it on really thick

Morning

Can't sugggest any tactics, Franny - it sounds as though you have tried everything I would suggest. Must be very trying. Painting pots never works prperly here either.

How is Boco's DD2?

200 I love Lully's idea of having your own website and doing canvases - I think it has the potential to do very well. Or can you send some copies of your pictures to publishers? Cards are a good idea too.

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2008 15:49

the white paint seems to work ok - maybe if we do a base of that, or PVA, or something, and then paint on top?
I googled and it says use emulsion
funnily enough I haven't got lots of colours of emulsion around and if I did I wouldn't be letting ds get his hands on them

OP posts:
UnderRated · 21/06/2008 15:54

PVA is a good idea. Are you going to use the pot for a plant? IME, when you water the plant, the paint goes all gooey. I heard emulsion is best too. Like we all let our DC do art projects with an array of dulux from the garage

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2008 15:58

I'm not sure if it'll get used - ds says he doesn't want it to get messy
it's one of the competitions for the veg show next week - I do hope ds wins something as he will be terribly disappointed otherwise - I know that is life, but....
anyway we are entering any old gubbins I can come up with in hope he may get 3rd prize or something!

It'd be sneaky to do it when no-one else is around. But would save all the hassle

TigerFeet · 21/06/2008 16:13

Arfternoon laydees

erm, an apple

We went to dd's nursery's fun day today to find it had been rained off. Cue tears from dd who had particularly been looking forward to a go on a bouncy castle. sigh. We have also been on our weekly trip to the optician to get both her pairs of glasses unbent. Good job they are free - we have been through 4 pairs in 6 months and I'm not kidding about the weekly unbending. I need to develop some Uri Geller type skills to save schlepping into town every farking weekend.

Boco you are one amazingly talented lady . I do hope your dd2 is OK.

Franny I'm not a huge fan of leaving dc's to scream either. I have been late for work on no end of occasions because I have refused to leave dd at nursery until she was settled and happy. Thankfully I now have a very understanding employer. We had to do the sleep training screaming in the end and thankfully it was only horrid for one night before she got the idea. Everyone, dd included, is much happier now. I suppose screaming has its place, but only when one has run out of alternatives. imho anyway

FrayedKnot · 21/06/2008 16:29

Hullo everyone

Boco hope DD2 is OK

I think the picture is enchanting and very much agree with the others that if you did canvasses or cards they would be snapped up.

If I had even a hundreth (hundreth, is that right?) of your talent I would be happy

Franny I'm afraid I wouldn't...couldn;t even - do screaming / grabbing. There have been occasions at nursery when DS has cried / been difficult to get settled, but if it was a situation where I didn;t have to be somewhere else (i.e. work) I would stay / not insist.

Can see why it's hard just now though. Today sounds positive, perhaps it was just a blip.

I have got some sort of clearing out fever, I have cleaned the whole house and cleared out two big cupboards.

Not much f&v though
