This is my first chance to log on to mumsnet all day - I thought of you all first thing but couldn't get here until now.
This little blessing is immensley comforting and was read at my much loved uncle's funeral- it is for OJ and family for their life here and for Steve's journey - hope you don't mind my offering it OJ

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Thinking of you OJ. And if nothing else (!) the MIL has provded an figure to 'rail' against, in the absence of anything else. It is sosmetimes helpful to be able to hate someone or something when there is no tangiable thing to hate. Like the cancer.
