Problem/Dependent Drinkers and Alcoholics (recovering or active) Support V

Welcome to the thread, the purpose of this is to give anyone who is having any trouble with their drinking, a safe place to come and post about it honestly and without judgement.

There are many of us that use the thread for support and encouragement: some in recovery, others just needing a place to share about their worries. It's been going on in one form of another for a while now and has helped many people.

Thank you to all of those who have kept it going thus far, and welcome to anyone who has decided the time has come to ask for help.

Everybody's welcome, no matter what stage your drinking is at.

Jump right in, the water's fine

no DC? oh wel taht is ok, tell me if ytouwant, but I wnt pry

I dont live life thru dh at all cant risk it

gerbra · 06/06/2008 23:14

No secret, I hope. I said when I first posted that I had no DCs but think I name changed and never brought it up after that (I did recently though).

It's never happened and now DP and I think it's probably never going to happen, with life and work the way it is. We're happy with the status quo though. Hope this hasn't give you a shock!

How may DCs do you have?

naswm · 06/06/2008 23:17

gerbra · 06/06/2008 23:21

You must be so happy and proud to have your boys + Dh though?
If I said 'think of all your boys (DH included), what do you think?

gerbra · 06/06/2008 23:29

Nothing to be sorry about!!
I can only imagine that's just what being a parent involves. There's probably a million ladies who would say the same thing! You feel responsible for these lives and that must be stressful...

Have had a lovely chat with you tonight PC (cos you'll always seem like PC to me!). When you pick up my e-mail, definitely email me if you want to, would be lovely to chat!
Where are you based?

erghhh... trying not to drink tonight. have wine in the house but havent had any yet, would normally have started an hour ago.

tell me i can do this someone please !

lackaDAISYcal · 07/06/2008 19:27

you can do it mankymummy

mankymummy · 07/06/2008 19:50

thanks daisy... how are you?

lackaDAISYcal · 07/06/2008 19:52

doing great MM

i started a BFing peer supporter course today. It was nice to get out of the house and do something that was for and about me, rather than the DCs.

DDs big birthday BBQ tomorrow; 17 adults and 12 kiddies coming......I must be mad!!

how are you?

mankymummy · 07/06/2008 20:25

oh my god hope the weather holds for you.

i'm doing ok. its been quite hard but not as bad as i thought.

If DS stays in bed and goes to sleep I think I'll be ok, when he keeps getting up i get stressed and tend to turn to the wine !

lackaDAISYcal · 07/06/2008 20:33

It's forecast sunny and hot here all day tomorrow

glad things are OK, MM. Hang in there and try to stay positive. If DS gets up, try not to react to him and keep calm as you put him back in bed. Easier said than done I know, but if he knows he is pushing your buttons he will be more likely to try it on (mine is like that anyway!)

and, my veggies are looking much better now . Toms are in growbags or the raised bed and are thriving (flowers on already), and the courgettes are getting there, although we lost one as DD trampled it! Have planted loads more different veg as well so am feeling quite proud. I find it quite cathartic as well and when I'm weeding or sowing or pricking out, I forget all about wanting a drink. It's good therapy

gerbra and naswm were chatty last night!

mankymummy · 07/06/2008 20:38

i think i'll be ok, i've got over the worst time of the day that starts me drinking. i will be ridiculously chuffed with myself if i do it !

glad to hear you havent killed off all the veg... what else are you growing?

know what you mean about the gardening, if i could spend 24/7 up my allotment i wouldnt need a drink ever !

read the thread back, they were weren't they? i didnt really come on last night, had a bit of a hectic one !

lackaDAISYcal · 07/06/2008 20:43

we've got beans, peas, radishes, beetroot, spring onions, onions, garlic, chillis and peppers, swiss chard and spinach on the go....and some basil, brocolli, leeks and cabbages in the greenhouse as well as some cut and come again lettuces....oh, and some potatoes.

and some mystery curcubit type things that have grown out of the compost...most likely butternut squash or melons. They are springing up everywhere in our raised beds.
