For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

And if they recommend super strong disinfectant for mouse pee, then they do so for a reason.

But Franny, are these things actually covered in poo or anything? Or is that they were just there in the loft and not inside a box or anything?

FrannyandZooey · 26/05/2008 21:21

I think mouse wee would eventually cease to be toxic, maybe
I am not sure if Jeyes ever would

oh dear gods, you'll be telling me you have disney products next...

MrsCarrot · 26/05/2008 21:22

lol at the Jeyes/Milton dichotomy

Why don't you check with comeone tomorrow if it makes you feel better, you could ask your midwife even.

FrannyandZooey · 26/05/2008 21:22

no some of the things were covered
eg the moses basket and the cot mattress and the car seat

but I am sure they have run everywhere having a look about and they urinate constantly
so I think it all needs disinfecting

Yes. She can't let the Mickey Mouse pop-up toy go, despite the fact it is covered in mouse pee!

I think MrsC is speaking sense here. She sounds knowledgeable anyway, and not like she is just totally making it up.

[goes off in search of FMF's thread]

FrannyandZooey · 26/05/2008 21:23

sorry I mean the basket and that were covered in poo
the other things were not covered, eg not in a box and not covered with poo

FMF what do you take me for?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 26/05/2008 21:24

but people like midwives and council men DO just make stuff up if they don't know the answer
dp doesn't seem to realise this

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 26/05/2008 21:25

I don't really know, I just know I would not put that on my babies toys. I would buy new ones if I thought I couldn't get them clean.

However, at this point I must say that I have advised you to seek the advice of a professional.

ahundredtimes · 26/05/2008 21:27

Unlike MrsC.

Do what she said.

Oh dear it's quarter past nine and ALL my children seem to be up. Standards are slipping. Am going to chase them.

FrannyandZooey · 26/05/2008 21:27

yes I think hot water and Miltons
hurrah
now to convince dp about the 60 deg thing

I'll shut up about this eventually
god I am a pathetic specimen

anyway how is TooT that is what we need to hear

mine have been going to bed REALLY late at the moment, ds seems to think it an outrage to be sent to bed before 10pm in the holidays.

JudgeThreadd · 26/05/2008 21:30

sigh, ditto 100 and Mrs C. They had a friend sleeping over night before last, was midnight before they went to sleep. And still awake at 6.30am.
They have rather fetching Victorian blue shadows under eyes atm....

MrsCarrot · 26/05/2008 21:31

did they tell you it was 9.15, 100, as it is really 9.30 Mine always round it down.

Yes, where is Toot? Hope the eye is ok.

MrsCarrot · 26/05/2008 21:31

late nights don't translate to late mornings do they

JudgeThreadd · 26/05/2008 21:32

No. And they had a late night last night (on boat) and were viley tetchy today. And they are off to grandma's tomorrow

FrayedKnot · 26/05/2008 21:34

What sort of BF cushion is it Franny? I have a v-shaped one if you want it. I am possibly passing your way later this week.

I was going to mention we have a car seat but now I remember it is in our garage and probably covered in mouse wee.

We have some canvas garden chairs and when we got them out at Easter, for extra seating, it was clear something had nibbled the corner of one.

I am to say I sat people on them (well I sat on one irrc) for easter lunch without washing or disinfecting them..there wasn;t time. I didn;t sit any of the children or my 90 yr old Grandmother just in case.

But I do realize now we are all fine and suffered no ill effects.

I think Milton would do fine for toys that had been covered but you are not 100% about. Or Savlon disinfectant. Anything you are sure has been directly hit, you should bin.

It is only our gragage that has mice btw not the rest of the house - BF cushion is fine!

MrsCarrot · 26/05/2008 21:35

good, then you can get a lie-in

actually DH has let me go back to sleep loads of morniing, one day I didn't wake until 12!!
I feel the special patient treatment is beginning to wane now. Shame.

JudgeThreadd · 26/05/2008 21:35

sadly no lie-in, I have to go to work

FrannyandZooey · 26/05/2008 21:43

yes please FK if the v cushion is the quite firm foam kind not the soft bean kind
mine was the firm kind and I really found it useful
Bero sending one across to the UK is very kind but would be crazy!

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 26/05/2008 21:55

I think they have gone. Am cooking supper. Can hear dh upstairs saying 'it's really late'. lolol

We don't really stagger bedtimes. I ought to I suppose. I just pack them all of at once. DS1 quite rightly put out. DD tired.

I have to stop playing to the mean age. It's getting silly.

But other than ds1, they are the Amazing Unsleeping children.

you could use that stuff you get in hospitals for disinfecting hands? we used it when ds1 was in SCBU, had in on our hands and then touched him etc, so it can't be toxic. You can get it in chemists here (don't know about UK)

salmonella invariably dies above 70°C, probably 60 will do it, but I know 70 blitzes it.

I really can send my cushion if you like, but it is soft-beany.

FrayedKnot · 26/05/2008 22:16

Yes Franny it's the firm kind you can also use for a pillow behind your back.

I had both with DS but the beany one went somehwere or other.

I'm not sure what else I have...have got rid of most of DS stuff. I do have clothes...were clothes affacted, or not?
