stuffitllama · 16/05/2008 18:40

sounds awful boco is it an allergic reaction maybe?

Boco · 16/05/2008 18:44

I don't know, it started on Wed evening with vision going all stripy and flashing which went on for hours and thought my brain was falling off, then worst headache ever in the middle of the night then sick all day yesterday. Had to get people to look after dd2 and pick up dd1. NOt had it before - don't think i've done anything different or eaten anything different. I guess migraines can just come on whenever and it's bad luck. Feel less spaced out now which is good. Have new respect for migraine sufferers, it's awful.

stuffitllama · 16/05/2008 18:48

god that's a long long time to feel so ghastly
maybe it wasn't a migraine but a really violent bug? ..then it would be a one off
i hope it is a one off

FrannyandZooey · 16/05/2008 18:49

Oh I am sorry Boco I have no idea
Avi or Tatties might be able to help
hope you feel fully recovered tomorrow

dp and ds are going to the woods thing and I am wanting to go but not wanting to sit in the car to get there
it really shags my back
I may go if feeling foolhardy - are you planning to go?

Hello

I had a couple of hours to myslef in town today.

I feel most refreshed

MrsC sorry to hear about the ovary pain. It sounds horrible. I think taking it as a sign to rest would be sensible.

I would like to ask a question of veteran festival goers please.

We would have liked to go to Latitude this year or something else but various commitments meant we couldn;t.

Anyway, there is a localish small festival happening in July which seems mainly focussed around music - there are some bands playing I would like to see.

Apparently they have a family camping field and an actvity area for children with various things going on, but I am worried if we go for the full 3 nights, there won;t be enough to keep DS amused.

He is quite good at making friends with other children now - actively going and seeking them out I mean

I won't be foisting him on random familes though

If anyone has any experiences of festival going with a 4 yr old please enlighten me

Boco · 16/05/2008 18:51

That would be better, hope its that. Can you get the flashing lights with a bug? Was horrid everying was quivering and whirling. Had to lie under the duvet with the girls sitting on me asking complicated questions.

dp is teaching dds Polish in the kitchen and it sounds very cute.

zippitippitoes · 16/05/2008 18:51

FrayedKnot · 16/05/2008 18:52

Oh dear, Boco, that sounds awful.

Odd too, that it came so out of the blue.

Mine are usually triggered by hormones. Are you pre-menstrual?

Boco · 16/05/2008 18:53

Franny yes, we're going tomorrow.

REally want to go to Latitude by no way we can afford it. my mum is going and meeting up with my bf adn her boyfriend which i think is very very unfair.

Boco · 16/05/2008 18:53

FK yes, think so, maybe it's that.

FrannyandZooey · 16/05/2008 18:54

oh bum we are going Sunday

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 16/05/2008 18:56

Oh here you all are.

Boco, horrible, horrible. I have had them on and off since about 14. Mine I think are related to hormones and/or stress. Though I have to be VERY tense and stressed for that to happen. Flashy lights and throwing up are the worst - though often the throwing up makes me feel better. Worth going to a doctor though about it - though I know it's a boring idea.

I have only read some - about the last 5 posts. Sorry. Will read.

My current news is that ds1 and dh have gone to a chess doo dah leaving us here all weekend. We have decided to play a lot - not sure what that means. That ds2 was HEROIC in a school gala and finished about 10 mins after everyone else, and everyone cheered him to the end. And when he got out he grinned and grinned - like he'd won or something - and looked at me. And I was crying - which was a bit crap - and I did bowing down with my arms raised in admiration of him, and he threw back his head and laughed. Isn't he MARVELLOUS?

I must have other news. That is most pressing though.

UnderRated · 16/05/2008 18:57

lol @ Polo. Are 10/10ers allowed to read Jilly Cooper?

OB, sounds v frustrating.

I lurve Beefy hulahoops. I am craving them now. In the land of dull crisps.

Sorry things are crap, zippi.

Watercress tastes like B&Q? As in the shop?

ahundredtimes · 16/05/2008 18:58

So yes - pre-menstrual and High Stress = migraine for me. But only about twice a year perhaps?

Oh, it was a swimming gala. He is a crap swimmer.

FrannyandZooey · 16/05/2008 19:00

oh god we all worship ds2
put his photo back up

UR yes as in the shop
he is a funny boy

UnderRated · 16/05/2008 19:02

ahundred, you sound lovely

I am premenstrual and it is making me incredibly clumsy and accident prone.

Boco · 16/05/2008 19:02

Hooray for ds2, he sounds heroic, and hope ds1 and dh can be chess nuts boasting etc.

Might go to doctors on monday if eyes not back to normal, they went' all swollen and puffy and not back to normal yet. Worst thing was not being able to do ANYTHING - being ill is only ok if you can at least read. In my hypochondriacal state when hadn't been able to see for hours I still managed to start a thread asking what the hell it could be, typing with eyes shut.

Shame Franny - would have been nice to see you. Look out for my friends who have a stall selling oak furniture - it's teh one from the ball with the helium - she's very liverpudlian with very ginger hair - you'll spot her. But obviously don't tell her I detailed her escapades on the interweb.

FrannyandZooey · 16/05/2008 19:03

haha at liverpudlian redhead helium loon
will go up and say hello in a squeaky voice shall I?

FrayedKnot · 16/05/2008 19:03

Boco, the only thing I find works is to lie down in a darkened room and try to sleep until it gets better.

There is apparently no point in taking pain killers unless you take them very early on because during a migraine your stomach shuts down and stops absorbing things.
I haven;t seen my GP though because mine are pretty infrequent. I get lots of headaches but not proper migraines very often.

I usually find I ma very tired for 2-3 days afterwards to take it easy

FrayedKnot · 16/05/2008 19:05

I meant "so take it easy"

ahundredtimes · 16/05/2008 19:07

It does sound quite severe Bocs. I've never had swollen eyes - though I have had loss of sight, swimmy vision and flashing lights.

Agree with FK, that your only hope is to catch the buggers early with Migraleve.

ahundredtimes · 16/05/2008 19:07

Oh thank you for being nice. He was BY FAR the worst swimmer - he can't do it, too much coordination required. But by god he had panache.
