MrsC, you always sound so sensible and firm!

MrsCarrot · 14/05/2008 19:12

No, just mean. The thought of stray children roaming round fills me with horror.

FrannyandZooey · 14/05/2008 19:48

yes they haven't to my knowledge played out front together
only over the fence when random child was next door
I just mentioned ds does play out front to show I am not totally horrified by all aspects of roaming children
random child appears, er, at random
not when they've been playing together, I agree that would make sense

and if he's looking for Garibaldi he picked the WRONG household

poor child
when I was younger (pre children) I used to let all the neighbour's children come and play and made them smoothies and stuff! not now, not on your nelly

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 14/05/2008 19:53

well then, time for steely skirts and firm words.

MrsCarrot · 14/05/2008 19:53

You did not!! I don't believe it...

FrannyandZooey · 14/05/2008 20:12

what that I let other people's children come and play? I did, honest
gosh am I that mean now that it is unbelievable? oh dear LOL

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 14/05/2008 20:24

No, well, I just can't imagine you whizzing up smoothies with hordes of muddy urchins about but maybe that's just me projecting my own horror.

I can't think of anything I'd have been less likely to do before I had children, but then I had barely stopped looking after my siblings , and I had a fairly constant party lifestyle until I got pregnant.

Fullmoonfiend · 14/05/2008 20:27

I've posted this on the other thread but I'm excited!
The boat has arrived in Leeds! They made it! 4 hours tomorrow and they will be at our new moorings [Happy Dance}

Fullmoonfiend · 14/05/2008 20:28

oh I had a stray child turn up in our back garde n playing in the sandpit one day. Went out to play with my 2 and it was ''er, hello dear. Should you be here?''

MrsCarrot · 14/05/2008 20:31

See, they are everywhere

Hurray for boat, Fmv!

FrannyandZooey · 14/05/2008 20:31

oh you see I was desperate for children, it was the great dream of my life hence years and years looking after other people's for pennies

Cooee

I think MrsC's advice is very sound...if you ever let this child come in, he will come every day, and you will feel much guiltier. Just make it clear from the start that no-one comes in.

It is a bit sad, I suppose, for him, but think this kind of situation has always existed.

I can remember having to go to the door and tell a boy from my class who kept coming round that he couldn't come in, after he started appearing every day (we were about 6-7) and bringing me presents. I think my parents suspected his big brother was nicking things for him.

I was mortified with embarrassment but he got the message.

That's pretty rubbish about the school, Tiger. Do you work near to home or is just in the opposite direction to school? I mean, can you continue the cycle ride to work, or is it also miles away in a different direction?

A friend of mine who regulalry cycles to work always arrives looking terribly sedate. She is very fit.

The tagalong looks great though...think we need one of those if we are going to do any proper cycling this year. DS, also 4, is too big for the seat this year (well, too big for me to manage the bike with him in it).

TooTicky · 14/05/2008 22:38

In the last place we lived, there were four children next door and no fence between back gardens. They were constantly around - at first I thought it was nice, little friends for dd1 to play with, etc.....BUT I ended up feeling I couldn't go out at all and so ds1 barely went out. Also, every so often, whilst sitting and eating or reading, I would get a "being watched" feeling, and there they'd be, lined up in the front room doorway staring

UnderRated · 15/05/2008 00:41

That's a bit creepy, Toot.

I'm worn out. It's been a long day. Although after his huge hissy fit this morning, DS was rather lovely all afternoon. He wanted to know if I have big nipples. I said, "I think they are normal" so he looked and said, "No, mine are tiny nipples, yours are biiig"

FrannyandZooey · 15/05/2008 08:53

Thanks all, I do think it is a mistake to start letting him in, but still feel the meanness of it

ds is being very cute - thank god as I feel grumpy and demoralised
helped me tidy up upstairs etc
made my bed for me
"this is a hard job but I am not a giving up boy Mummy"

FrannyandZooey · 15/05/2008 08:54

ur were you on the thread where everyone meaured their nipples and compared them to a dulux paint chart? It was MrsC's idea I am sure

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 15/05/2008 08:55

i didnt do any nipple measuring or colouring in

FrannyandZooey · 15/05/2008 08:56

you can do it now if you like zip
MrsC will be pleased
every now and then I say 9 cm pale brown to her and it really brightens her day

IdrisTheDragon · 15/05/2008 09:09

I haven't posted on either thread for about a day and am hoping there is some way I can catch up. Where is everyone posting I wonder?

zippitippitoes · 15/05/2008 09:12

what do you measure tho i have strange permanently erect nipples...originally bk tghey were like flat with a hole where a nipple should be but dd2 changed them into large raspberries and they stayed

FrannyandZooey · 15/05/2008 09:13

i think it is the whole aureola
we will get in bother for this when the anti-poo brigade come back
they'll find a reason why we shouldn't talk nipples either

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 15/05/2008 09:13

hello Idris!

Franny I don't think you are mean about the stray child. MrsC's firm response is excellent I think

Zippi my nipples are the same, I think bf has permanently altered them
