For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

it is hard toot - kind of balancing your needs and well being with theirs. As a mother theirs has automatic vito on most occasions - I could only ever wean with really concrete reasons - with ds was having to go into hosptial and with dd was having to go away for a night for work (combined with the 'chewed' feeling.) were both 2yrs give or take a few months.

berolina · 09/05/2008 00:03

wry, knowing at 'chewed' feeling.

Tis much too late here - must be to bed (ds2 asleep ). Night x

TooTicky · 09/05/2008 00:05

I can carry on a while yet I think, if she agrees to stop shouting MUMMY MILK loudly in public

FrannyandZooey · 09/05/2008 07:57

oh sorry Bero I forget you are feeding a tiny one
I got back into ordinary bras asap and just hoicked things over the top
I think you can get underwired nursing bras yes but I would have found them dodgy in the early days - you change size too much

we bought a mango yesterday AND IT WAS RIPE AND WE HAVE ATE IT JUST NOW
unbelievable

banana, raisins, grapes, apple, mango

I woke up at 5 am with a great big cramp in my calf
ooouch

LOL TooT when ds asked for milk in public aged about 2.5 I used to feel and say "do you want some milk in a cup?" cue very loud "no I want milk FROM YOUR BREAST"
it was always more embarrassing than just giving it to him

oh and he is DETERMINED he is going to have some again when the new baby arrives
in fact is scouting around for some now
"have you started making it yet?"
me: "errrrr.....NO, and it is for the baby anyway"

I am glad in retropect that I gave up tandem feeding when ds was 17 months. He is now 2.5 and openly tries to grope me, stating "my boobies"... I cannot have a bath with him, he is at them all the time. Imagine what he would be like if still bf...

Lots of mandarins, spinach on my pizza at lunchtime, but abit of a lazy left over tea tonight with frozen peas!

Tatties · 09/05/2008 09:00

I haven't a clue when ds will wean! He has just turned 3 and still feeds quite a bit during the day; also still feeds to sleep and a couple of times at night I also feel rather chewed at times and sometimes fed up but there are many reasons why I wouldn't be without it. I think it's good to have a moan about it to people who understand

pinkspottywellies · 09/05/2008 09:30

I thought dd was about finished with bf the other night. She was faffing at bedtime and I said do you want a bottle of milk and she did and went to bed on her own with it! But the last couple of days she's wanting it in the morning again which she had all but stopped.

FrayedKnot · 09/05/2008 09:38

Sorry I can;t read all the thread today, am in library perched on PC while DH tuts outside

Hope everyone is well

Have eaten half a cantaloupe melon this morning whihc was divine

We have been on beach and dong marvellous things in the lovely weather, hope everyone has been enjoying it too.

Love to you all xxx

MrsCarrot · 09/05/2008 09:55

Thank you all again for the lovely massage voucher. Franny asked me if I had received it and I thought I hadn't but then it turned out I had opened that the day after the op and then I completely forgot about it. I was groggy then but still...

I am having bf doubts atm, it is very draining feeding ds2 in the night for me and dh as he is bringing him to me and then when he goes back he doesn't always go back to sleep. We have had a dreadful row this morning because we are knackered. It is the fact that he slept through two of the nights I was away that makes me think, hmm, do I want to be doing this? I am happy to continue to bf but not like this really. He is also asking six times a day or so. It's hard isn't it, I wonder if the middle ground is possible, or whether i have the resolve.

Mango, banana, cherry and pomegranate fruit salad.

BBBee · 09/05/2008 10:25

morning

how lovely to hear you all bright carrot.

How are you? Are you being left to rest and stuff?

My friend had some very positive news last week after her hysterectomy. I bought champagne.

OsmosisBanana · 09/05/2008 10:49

I'm totally bloody impressed by all you weird and wonderful extended / tandem feeders. I gave up at 8 months and couldn't wait to do so. Loud round of applause for your patience.

I haven't lost any weight overnight I am sorry to report. Will update at lunch time. I'm hoping my concentrated efforts at sitting around doing fuck all will soon show rewards.

going to buy Birkenstock sandals at lunchtime. I am not totally happy about this but also feel in some way they should contribute to my vegetable intake. Just through their wholesomeness. Admittedly I am getting the ones with shiny hologram design to distract from the lentillyness.

I'm on a mission to keep quote of the week within the 10/10 yurt. Will brush up on my humour throughout the day.

OsmosisBanana · 09/05/2008 10:50

Had amazing sex last night. AGAIN. In fact I can't remember the last time we had 'grin and bare it' type sex.

Methinks the bedroom mojo has returned.

Whoop whoop!!!

Bout bloody time.

BBBee · 09/05/2008 10:51

OsmosisBanana - you cannot count the shoes or your name towards your intake.

I am doing this at you.

Do you see that

OsmosisBanana · 09/05/2008 10:52

Meanie. I thought I was onto a winner.

BBBee · 09/05/2008 10:52

am feeling a crap neglectful mother.

IdrisTheDragon · 09/05/2008 11:07

TooT I have some marzipan here as I bought too much at Christmas. Would you like it?

IdrisTheDragon · 09/05/2008 11:10

And I thought it was dull as dishwater as well.

zippitippitoes · 09/05/2008 11:21

hi

i am sure you are not a crapy neglectful mother bbee

i am at how much breastfeeding you have all done/doing

toot yours adds up to nearly ten years

ahundredtimes · 09/05/2008 11:23

Bbee I have posted on your thread. I am going to be watching in like a hawk and writing down ideas. We seem to spend all weekend doing chores and shouting at children.

However this weekend I wand to do fun things too. I have found an orchard near here where we can go and volunteer to do things. We might go there.

TigerFeet · 09/05/2008 11:54

DD weaned at 7 months, it was my idea as I was knackered and working full time and I didn't really have the support to keep going. I was devastated. She of course was completely unconcerned .

Well, I was driving home last night when the Fuel Injection fault light came on, followed by a rather loud noise and excessive revving, then a small explosion and a trail of blue smoke out of the back . The farking car wouldn't stop revving even when I had switched it off and taken the key out . A Very Nice Man had to come out and tow me home. DH, who is of course The Fount Of All Motoring Knowledge Being A Man , reckons the turbo has gone. We are talking high three figures or possibly even four figures to get it mended. Lovely.

We hadn't yet sold my old car so that was hurredly retaxed, recharged and re oiled and I am now driving that. Not very 10/10 is it, having three cars? Good job we still had it though. We live in the arse end of nowhere and I need a car to get to work.

BBBee · 09/05/2008 13:04

sorry about your car tiger - cars, washing machines and boilers all lurk there looking innocent and behaving themselves and then suddenely they have a huge sulk and demand hundreds of pounds and they can hold us to ransome as they know we cannot live without them - the bastards!

Thanks for inpout on my thread. Volunteering at an orchard sounds wonderful. I like the aimless wandering ideasa too, maybe we need a bit more aimless - there is a bluebell wood near us... hmm...

ahundredtimes · 09/05/2008 13:12

You need a dog. Honestly, he's been the best thing for us, because we all go out on walks every weekend too. And we've been to some lovely places recently - well, I have and ds1 and dd are game, but ds2 is sulky and is often left behind shouting at the doors and 'helping' dh do one of the endless amount of chores we seem to have.

OsmosisBanana · 09/05/2008 13:15
