Random very painful lumps on vagina

Sadasad · 31/12/2024 14:16

Out of nowhere I have had incredibly painful small lumps on my vulva around the opening, one between my vagina and anus, and one on the opening of my anus. Around my bumhole is also very itchy and sore Blush Nothing has changed to cause this, does anyone have any idea what it could be?

Been with my boyfriend for 2 years and he is with me every single day, absolutely zero chance of him cheating so not an sti.

He or you could be a carrier of Herpes though.

Seaweed42 · 31/12/2024 17:15

Have you changed loo paper recently or used scented pads? Or a new shampoo or shower gel or new underwear?

Take the antihistamines and see if the spots go away.

Have you taken any medications or used a generic paracetamol or some such. Or swum in a pool?

LightDrizzle · 31/12/2024 17:15

I don’t think it’s common to get multiple Bartholins cysts from nowhere. It does sound more like herpes, it’s very important that you get tested and treated and don’t have unprotected sex with your boyfriend until assured it isn’t or us no longer active. If you gave an STD he should get tested too. When you get pregnant, if it’s herpes you should disclose you have had it and they can manage things safely for you.

Look dude, put that out of your head for now. Go to your GUM clinic asap. It's the best place to get a quick diagnosis and treatment rather than fucking about with the GP. It's their area.

Stop scratching, take an antihistamine. You don't want an infection on top. Wet some STs and stick them in the freezer for a bit. It might bring some relief, albeit a bit cold.

JC03745 · 31/12/2024 17:24

I too would get checked at a sexual health clinic. As others have said, some things can lay dormant! They don't just see STI's and could also say whether its thrush or any other gynae issue. Have you shaved/waxed the area recently? Might be ingrown hairs.

How long have you been TTC? Its routine as part of a fertility work up includes STI screening for your both, along with semen analysis, hycosy, Day 21 blood test and other bloods for say thyroid, deficiencies etc.

That sounds very much like genital herpes.
Are they pus filled or just solid lumps?

I have no idea at the moment as it is too painful to touch them

Just thinking back, a couple of weeks ago I had a pus filled lump, also on my vulva, but I assumed it was just an ingrown hair? It wasn’t itchy or extremely painful though, only when squeezed.
God, this is making me sound a right mess. I promise I am a hygienic person! I feel so so ashamed of what’s going on down there right now, I have cried twice the past couple of days from the pain, tiredness and shame

If not herpes (once you've checked that out) possible shaving spots/lumps?

Genegeniehunt · 31/12/2024 20:41

I recently had a small dry rash at the right side of my mouth that spread over my lips and didnt clear for 3 weeks. My gp diagnosed me with face herpes/cold sores 2 weeks ago and ive been fully celibate for a year now. It really can lay dormant. I think a horrible cold i had triggered mine. My gp said the vaginal ones are painful and very itchy so it does sound like you have herpes, sorry. Good luck.

ohyesido · 31/12/2024 20:51

The other thing you describe sounds like hydradentitis supperativa. I've probably spelt it wrong but Google it

ohyesido · 31/12/2024 20:52

Don't be ashamed a very high percentage of the population contract hpv and herpes they just don't experience outbreaks and both are manageable long term

Sadasad · 31/12/2024 20:57

So if it’s herpes I can still have sex with my partner as usual, just not when there’s a visible outbreak? Reading up on it more it seems very likely it is. I have felt so tired, a little ill, definitely run down, and a little spaced out over the last week or so. More aches than usual too, in fact on Boxing Day I was complaining of much worse than usual back pain. I was very ill with a cold a couple of weeks ago too, not sure if that’s any correlation?

Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to ease the pain right now, currently sat in a warm bath which is comforting but unfortunately I can’t lay here until it’s over

Frozen peas in a sock for now, you'll need lidocaine and antivirals if you get diagnosed, feel free too message x

DreamingOfASilentNight · 31/12/2024 21:49

Could it be folliculitis? Have you been doing any hair removal? You can get folliculitis from shaving it waxing. It's horrible. They are lumps containing pus rather than clear fluid which is more what you get with herpes. An antibiotic is needed for them. How big are they? Either way you need to see and doctor to diagnose and treat.

ChristmasLightsLover · 31/12/2024 21:58

Hey @Sadasad I'm so sorry that you are in pain. It is awful. I have herpes. It is a fucker. Do you paracetamol, neurofen and codeine? Take it all, at whatever level you need to.

I try to sleep as much as I can. It is too painful to be awake. The bath. A warm compress. Painkillers.

If this your first breakout this episode and the first few are the most painful. Anti virals work really well for some people. But do get tested whilst it is active. Get the diagnosis as that equips you going forwards.

Stress. Other illnesses. A cold. All can trigger an episode. Shaving your public hair. So it is about management, prevention , and self preservation. Bless you.

TomatoSandwiches · 31/12/2024 22:03

There's absolutely no need to feel ashamed at all, just make sure you see someone to get them assessed and treated.

BoldAmberDuck · 31/12/2024 22:05

Sounds like herpes, sorry to say

Doggymummar · 31/12/2024 22:12

I had herpes 40 years ago, it's really painful but I have never had a recurrence. I found it comforting to have a hot water bottle between my legs but it cleared up real quick once I had the anti vitals. I was told to ensure the hospital checked me if giving birth vaginally, but I never became pregnant so this wasn't an issue. See the doctor or clinic asap and you will soon feel better.

Sadasad · 01/01/2025 11:12

Thank you everyone for the support and advice, sorry I haven’t been overly responsive, the pain was not too bad last night while in bed but definitely still there, but in the morning when I went for a wee it started everything back up again. Now I have been for a poo it has made my arse feel like a ring of fire. I haven’t eaten anything even remotely spicy recently, so I am pretty concerned now. I have almost muscle cramp type feelings coming from my bum cheeks into my thighs, only mild for now but uncomfortable. As it’s New Year’s Day, none of the pharmacy’s are open in my area, I was going to get some lidocaine cream as I need some relief. I have cried again this morning, as it is just so relentless.

Look at sexual health clinics in your area. There’s usually some kind of holiday cover at those.
