For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

You need a notebook for lists in my experience, otherwise you write on them on the back of envelopes/letter from school/till receipts and then they are LOST.

A list must never be lost. That is the first rule.

Oh good UR. That's good isn't it? I was worrying about him.

Okay Boco, that's enough now with the 'funny things I have written this week' memoir. [Oscar Wilde jealous of Whistler emoticon]

TooTicky · 01/05/2008 22:39

Oh no, I have enough notebooks on the go as it is. Lists are always on small scraps of paper.
I am related to Oscar Wilde. I have probably told you this before.

TooTicky · 01/05/2008 22:43

Am taking ds2 back to hospital tomorrow and resisting the urge to tuck clean underwear into my pockets. It WILL BE just a check-up [emphatic]

berolina · 01/05/2008 22:46

Will be thinking of you and ds2 TooT.

I have my big to-do list on the computer. Green for 'done', orange for 'on the way but needs more action', snd red for 'just bloody do it bero'. The red and orange bits are getting longer. I wouldn't lose a paper list, but would be less likely to actually refer to it than my computer one.

TooTicky · 01/05/2008 22:49

Bero, if I had a list like that I would probably actually get things done. Perhaps this is why I don't

BBBee · 01/05/2008 23:24

how is the worldof 10/10?

am not rushing.

toot is ds eye okay?

BBBee · 01/05/2008 23:25

oh have seen you are going back tomorrow/ I hoep all okay.

um, beans on toast....

UnderRated · 01/05/2008 23:57

Hello Bee

Hope all goes well tomorrow, Toot.

There have been lots more shootings on my block. A stray bullet went through my friend's window

berolina · 02/05/2008 07:47

UR are you/is s/he OK?

Thinking of MrsC and TooT.

Carrot bread (yes, German breads are weird but wonderful ), pressed apple juice, apple, pear.

Am going to do battle with German bureaucracy this morning.

Fullmoonfiend · 02/05/2008 08:42

morning all. TooT, hope all is well with ds2's eye.
We have a family list of 'golden rules' (including no hitting/shouting and respect each other's bodies and property, which we work out together. I am less clear on what happens if they actually get broken... but at least we can say ''you broke a golden rule'' and go from there.

(I have just broken a golden rule by shouting a lot at ds2 who has just fired a foam dart in ds1's face...)

ladywombling · 02/05/2008 08:47

Hello Veggers,

Am packing for trip to london to see my newly minted nephew, he is 7 weeks old, so just wanted to say:

Good luck Mrs C (I know she has gone)

TooT, hope it goes well, and DS2 is ok. Good on you for the house rule and consequences, sounds clear, structured and effective.

Boco - both quotes made me lol, well done!

BBBeee - Hello, how are you?

Good luck Bero

Morning, good luck MrsC - have I missed her already?

I read your post as 'how is the Waldorf 10/10' Bbbeee. Got salad on the brain.

Feeling much better today although weak and wobbly. Even a small tub of cherry garcia B&J ice cream didn't make it go away yesterday., and I find that is normally a cure for everything.

rasp / blueb / oats / large OJ.

TigerFeet · 02/05/2008 09:22

hi all

Hope all goes well today for MrsC and TooT

I have had a papaya for breakfast. Mmmmmmm.

Fullmoonfiend · 02/05/2008 11:33

muesli, 2 bananas so far. Tuscan 3-bean soup for lunch. And planning salad niscoise for supper. Erm not quite 10, is it?

I'm at work and the sun is shining temptingly at me...

TooTicky · 02/05/2008 11:45

Does anybody know what time we particularly have to think of MrsC? Obviously my thoughts will be generally carrot shaped all day.

Ds2 will have to have his stitches removed in a couple of months under GA
I have not told him.

TooTicky · 02/05/2008 11:47

Tigerfeet, every time I have tried papaya I have found it very disappointing. I'd like to enjoy one.
Mind you, I have heard that a freshly picked banana is very different from a transported one, perhapos the same is true of papayas.

zippitippitoes · 02/05/2008 11:49

a couple of months? that sounds a long time

they are clearly a special kind

TooTicky · 02/05/2008 11:52

Apparently eyes take a while to heal, even young eyes.

TigerFeet · 02/05/2008 15:09

Toot, I had freshly picked pineapple and papaya in Thailand when I was about 12 - nectar of the gods and unrepeatable in this country sadly. This one was OK though, one of the better ones I have had, possibly because it was half price (I am too tight budget conscious to buy exotics at full price) and was therefore ripe but not yet cunting.

Poor ds2 he is having a time of it isn't he? Do you think it will be easier because you know it's happening? As in it won't be such a shock and will be able to plan a bit?

Zippi I am still lolling at mangoes being a good source of tryptophan. Perhaps I have been crap recently because so many of them have been cunting?

TooTicky · 02/05/2008 15:25

I read a book recently that said it was easier than you would think to grow pineapples in this country. Don't know about papayas though.

Re ds2's stitch removal -
I'm just trying not to think about it atm. Also not telliung him yet.

ChocolateRockingHorse · 02/05/2008 15:33

Hello

I haven't abandoned you so soon after arrival.. but I've pretty much not had time to eat (so at least haven't eaten bad supposed I suppose..)

My twin step grandsons were born in the early hours of this morning and yesterday passed in a blur.. DH went rushing up North to be with his DD for a few days. He should be texting me pics any time. There were 4 lbs 9 and 4lbs 10 . Both fine and not needing any help with breathing/feeding Which is really good!!

zippitippitoes · 02/05/2008 15:36

congratulations

ChocolateRockingHorse · 02/05/2008 15:37

Thank you Zippi
