For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

My friend had that and could barely walk from 24 weeks but she took it completely easy and was fine almost immediately after birth. I'm sure you will be too.

Do Not Google. I have banned myself as you can imagine. In fact I did a thread today about all my fears, MRSA, waking up during the op, not waking up at all. Good lord, if it's bad I have thought it and googled it.

FrannyandZooey · 23/04/2008 20:14

physio, very contradictory, am going again on Monday but every day is doing my head in

everyone else I mention it to says "oh my friend had that she ended up in a wheelchair"

PLEASE nobody else tell me that

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 23/04/2008 20:14

oh you just did! LOL
you see?

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 23/04/2008 20:14

you will always find the worst on the internet because people who have relatively comfortable outcomes in anything dont put stuff up

FrannyandZooey · 23/04/2008 20:15

and sorry to be on about this, obviously it is kind of small compared to other things people have to worry about

anyway
hence absence from thread

zippitippitoes · 23/04/2008 20:17

oh franny it isnt small

and saying things are small is my prerogative

Fullmoonfiend · 23/04/2008 20:20

Franny, I suffered mildly from it (had tubigrip and crutches in last couple of weeks of pg) I am fine now...!

Also although i do know one person who had a wheelchair because of it IT WAS NOT PERMANENT!!

There are loads of women on here who have sufffered from it, start a thread and tou'll find out.

MrsCarrot · 23/04/2008 20:26

Oh god, I have done it again. It was meant to be a good story, ie, she was worse than you are as she had lots of pain earlier on, but it went completely after the baby was born. No year. NO WHEELCHAIR.

And it isn't small, it's big for you, we shouldn't feel things can't be mentioned because someone else has a different problem.

No problem hierachy on 10/10. Ok?

OsmosisBanana · 23/04/2008 20:27

Good lord. Google is Scary Shit Fran. I work in a maternity hospital... Shall I ask my boss what she honestly reckons? She is the Head of Community Midwifery. I aslo know most of the Obs consultants.

Your post made me cry a little bit FMF (the one with all the links). So funny.

BBQ'd the sea bass in the end folks, thanks for the suggestions though.

(Note surreptitious (SP) inclusion of BBQ in the post) heh heh.

DH being a total prick BTW. TOTAL FUCKING PRICKOLATA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MrsCarrot · 23/04/2008 20:28

lol at prickolata

OsmosisBanana · 23/04/2008 20:28

yeah, I'm trying not to chortle in case the prickolata himself comes over here.

MrsCarrot · 23/04/2008 20:30

I think as it sounds like chipolata, you are making an insult to his manhood

OsmosisBanana · 23/04/2008 20:34

I am insulting his manhood. It's unfounded but as he isn't here to defend himslef, no-one need know that.

FrayedKnot · 23/04/2008 20:34

Hello dear veggers

Franny oh dear, googling always makes things seem much, much worse

I had a friend who had quite severe SPD and was on crutches for a short time, but didn;t have problems labouring, nor was she immobile afterwards.

Have you spoken to your midwife or anyone? What about the physio?

OsmosisBanana · 23/04/2008 20:35

What are the implications for your home birth Fran?

FrayedKnot · 23/04/2008 20:36

Sorry missed all that. Again I reiterate, friend did not have wheelchair! And crutches only in last few weeks of pg.

OsmosisBanana · 23/04/2008 20:37

SPD is incredibly common. I would say at least 1/4 of the women that get discharged through our office have SPD to some degree or another. Don't freak out.

Boco · 23/04/2008 20:44

Oh dear Franny, so sorry you're worried. Don't say you shouldn't talk about it though, as that means there's no way I should be banging on about my lost mooncup among other very very trivial things. It is a big thing, it's making you worried.

I've also known a few people with this - one very good friend in the village had it badly - but have never ever heard of anyone with a wheelchair or having problems after the birth. Friend who had it badly found the last few weeks were not comfortable, but as soon as her son was born it was fine. Google is very bad, it's worst case scenario stuff which no one really needs.

Fullmoonfiend · 23/04/2008 20:46

I read recently that home birth can be a good experience for women with SPD as they are are in control, more relaxed etc.

pinkspottywellies · 23/04/2008 20:49

I have a friend who had awful SPD. She was hobbling like an old woman but was fine in labour and ok straight after the birth. DON'T GOOGLE lovely lady

Now, when are we coming to visit?

OsmosisBanana · 23/04/2008 20:52

FMF is right. Wasn't trying to scare you more. Will talk to boss tomoz.

lullabyloo · 23/04/2008 20:52

franny (((()))))
Dont google anymore
I made that mistake when I was diagnosed with my various problems, intending to arm myself with all knowledge..but it doesn't make for positive thinking

I have been reading Dr Gowri Motha's Gentle Birth method again today. It was one of the books I wanted to bring to the meet for you.She highly recommends Bowen treatments.

OsmosisBanana · 23/04/2008 20:53

I'm going to bed. Can't be arsed with wanky DH.

Fullmoonfiend · 23/04/2008 20:53

Osmosis - had you seen Matt dancing before??

If you haven't, watch this, it's really heaertwarming and uplifting
this made me cry a little when I first saw it

Then you will see why Franny and I are totally in love with admire him so much...

lullabyloo · 23/04/2008 20:54

What's he up to OB?
