Aren't our poor little mites 'stabbed' enough?! DS wasn't impressed with the new 5-in-1 in one leg and the MengC in the other as it was. So now they want to add something else into the 5-i-1 coctail?!

I'm all for keeping our lo's happy and healthy, but ...

"... She said: "We always take parents' fears and worries into account, but whatever decision is made will be based on protecting children as best as we possibly can."

Yeah right!

Gotta love this excerpt...

"I really do worry that if we can't introduce these sort of vaccines we are going to see a return to diseases that we thought we had broadly seen the last of in this country."

Well in the case of MMR... imho if they'd make the single vaccines more readily available (be it for a cost or not) then that wouldn't be a problem would it now!

I am lucky enough to have a clinic nearby that does singles for the MMR and I don't mind paying the £80-90 per shot either. DD did react badly to her first imms (2nd lot at 3 months) so they actually didn't give her the 3rd whooping cough injection for fear she might react again.

Hmmm, re-reading the above ya might get the impression I'm a bit biased against this subject couldn't you

thinking about it aconite was very helpful when ds2 had croup as well!

jimjams, when I went to get DS's first lot of vaccinations done 2 weeks ago, I also questioned what was the point in giving tetanus and Hepatitis B to such young babies - it seems that the powers at B aren't adopting a sensible approach to this at all!

BTW - very impressed you're on here posting already!

Ahhh, a vaccine thread. My kids have never received any vaccinations. they are hale and hearty, never been sick and even when their friends are half dead with flu, etc, they never get it.

What i dont get, is why we inject our beautiful new born babies with what can only be described as toxins. As I dont want to risk listening to the venting of spleens of those of you who wish to vaccinate your children, and who think it is a good thing to do, I will not go into the scientific nonsense the medical profession and drug companies throw at us. However, if you are wavering on this issue, look up some of the vaccine sites which are against the vaccines. You will be amazed at what the truth behind vaccines is.

Apart from what is in the vaccine, and apart from the myth that they "prevent" disease, why is it that the powers that be are so keen to "inject" our babies. Is there more to being to being "vaccinated" than just being injected with toxins? Its like the medical profession gets to put its stamp on our babies from birth.

For those who want to know, the information is out there why NOT to vaccinate your babies. Its a hard call and at the end of the day it is the parents decision, (unless you live in some U.S. states). Its all about knowledge and the power of knowledge. I would say that if you were to go to your doctor and actually ask him/her what is in the vaccine s/he would not be able to tell you. Further they would not be able to tell you exactly how the vaccine is supposed to work. They inject willy nilly and we rarely ask any questions. Unless we ask questions about vaccines, there may come a day when we will lose our choice to be vaccinated or not. As you will remember, from the 1960's and some of you may unfortunately be a victim of this, pregnant women were injected with thalidomide to curb sickness during pregnancy. In the 40s/50s doctors would have told you it was good to smoke. Every 20 years the medical profession changes its outlook based on research. No real research has taken place about vaccines. NONE at all. Yet we give this stuff to our kids, the most precious things we have. Its an emotional issue, cause its our kids they are using as guinea pigs basically.

If you dont vaccinate your kids, be rest assured that should an epidemic break out, they will benefit from the "herding" theory. The herding theory means your kid will not get sick because most of those around him have been vaccinated and the epidemic will not reach epidemic proportions.
The vehement vaccine supporters forget that vaccinating ones child is a matter of choice, a choice made on sound parental judgement. Most who do not vaccinate have not done so because they have researched the topic very well and have thought it out logically.
