For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Or speaking out the side of your mouth? Slipstream.

Boco · 18/04/2008 17:44

Can you eat something filling before you meet her to curb the desperation - like pontefract cake or whatever it is that hill walkers like to eat.

ahundredtimes · 18/04/2008 17:47

Kendal Mint Cake?

FrannyandZooey · 18/04/2008 17:49

no thats the problem
I am working all morning and lots of the afternoon
we get about 45 mins in the middle where I can eat - that should be plenty of time shouldn't it? but it isn't
our dc are there so I am constantly saying stuff like 'ds don't shout at him like that' and getting up to get things

OP posts:
Boco · 18/04/2008 17:50

Yes that's it! So what is pontefract cake for - is there such a thing?

Anyway, the point is, that would sustain you and give you energy and prevent the panicked stuffing and grunting.

ahundredtimes · 18/04/2008 17:52

here it is

It's weirdo liquorice cake.

ahundredtimes · 18/04/2008 17:52

Eat the food. Write your friend a letter.

Boco · 18/04/2008 17:54

God that sweet site is hypnotic with the scrolling images of piles of colourful sweets - I want jelly beans.

ahundredtimes · 18/04/2008 17:56

I don't like how they are all resting on the slightly creased material. It's horrible. Like those plastic menus with photographs.

Also - so many brown sweets. Sweets shouldn't be brown, unless they are chocolate.

Also - what's with the Twiglet wheel?

ahundredtimes · 18/04/2008 17:58

Oooh they are not Twiglets. They are liquorice roots from Yorkshire.

Which reminds me. FMF - my friend wants me to go to a weirdy caravan site with her in the summer which is near you. She says it will all be very kitsch and funny, with a circus tent and strange trailers with objets d'art.

Do you know this place? Hang on, I shall have to find the link.

Boco · 18/04/2008 18:00

I really hate twigletts. They're like dog poo sticks. I find them offensive, because crunchy snacks should be fun.

ahundredtimes · 18/04/2008 18:01

[nods] Wotsits are fun. And orange in a fun way.

I can't find the camp site with funny displays and the circus tent. Perhaps FMF will just know about it and can tell me all about it? I think she should be able to.

FrannyandZooey · 18/04/2008 18:02

I think I might just be being greedy actually
I have vast lunch, chocolate when I got home, just had dinner, now want cheese and biscuits and am going to have some

am not exactly wasting away

Boco did you see cod's thread where she was wanting to know how your evening went? You probably did

Boco · 18/04/2008 18:03

I had a really surprisingly fun 10/10 style crunchy snack recently. It was kind of dried crunchy broad beans covered in a crunchy outer bit - didn't taste at all like broad beans which made them ever more fun, they were delicious, I hope I can find them.

lullabyloo · 18/04/2008 18:04

dog poo sticks?

actually I hate them too
I shall snirk smuggly when dh eats them from now on

Am glad to hear evening went so well Boco

ahundredtimes · 18/04/2008 18:04

ahundredtimes · 18/04/2008 18:09

I just said that because Boco did.

I haven't eaten much today [bottom of the list emoticon] Except I broke ranks at two o'clock and had two pieces of toast with marmalade.

Blardy lovely it was.

Am going to cook a chicken and prepare numerous vegetables.

I do think MrsC should be near the top of the list, because she always cooks vegetables in such interesting ways doesn't she? It's all glazed carrots and parnsip and borage mash. I want to go round there next Sunday. I reckon it's a feast.

IdrisTheDragon · 18/04/2008 18:11

Have now searched (which I should have done in the first place) and see you did indeed find the thread Boco .

I think I knwo the broad bean snack thing you are talking about. Or at least we have some in a cupbaord and they say Roasted and salted broad beans. They are made by Cypressa and produced in Spain. But it may not be them.

FrannyandZooey · 18/04/2008 18:16

yes MrsC should be topper than me
she is so wholesome (in a really glamorous and interesting way obviously) and she has a healthy attitude to life and is really quite unneurotic compared to me and half of you lot some people
