For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Nice present Bee, if she's into that kind of stuff. Imagine it could backfire with some friends, who may be vaguely horrified - but you know her, so, umm, I'm sure she'll be delighted. In a couple of months, after she's got past the initial trauma of trying to get it out.

BBBee · 08/04/2008 20:50

oh god, maybe it is not good. Um, I am not good at presents - I never did presents for anyone on here did I? Bet you are releived.

See I think she will like it because I love mine and it opened so many doors and I love my body so much more so what better a birthday present?

no?

oh.

and it is her 40th.

oh dear.

i would be mortified to get a mooncup for a present

but then i am not at all interested in having one anyway

stuffitllama · 08/04/2008 21:00

hello all, that's the most original present idea i have ever heard of (and we gave someone a footbath when they got married once) so heads up Bee.
Mrs C I hope the bf issue is ok, was gutted to have to stop for a bit with my third only to find that the break was permanent as far as he was concerned ..hope it works out for you.
Zippi is this a series your Boy Friend is in, is he going to be a reality tv star? Are you going to be in HELLO? Is there another chance to catch him at it? lol at socialising did you have a rictus grin
the only good thing about conjunctivitis is that it doesn't hurt, isn't that right? or does my memory deceive me .. cool water and not getting the cotton wool pads mixed up, i remember that part

stuffitllama · 08/04/2008 21:03

forgot
2 bananas
veg curry with courgettes and peppers, onions etc (but from a jar was in a hurry)
fresh oj (counts? must check rules)
raw mushrooms

lully if ever they announce a national vegetable shortage we'll know who to blame

Fullmoonfiend · 08/04/2008 21:03

oh oh oh!
Franny I am wathcing Once and I want to marry him. Now!!!!

TigerFeet · 08/04/2008 21:12

MrsCarrot

Friend has emailed me re morphine and bfing...

"I pumped and dumped after morphine but that is due to duff information from the doctors..it would of been safe to nurse direct on morphine. The rest of the time I nurse directly into DD during the day and pumped morning and night and the nurse put it in the fridge for me and this went home with DH for DD night feeds. At 15 months old her son is properly not having as many feeds as dd was. She was 4 and 6 months old when I went into hospital and 100% on milk only. As long as she gets a couple of direct feeds in a day, she properly won't NEED to pump on top like I did. All the best and I hope she gets well soon. I'll email some drug links I have later on, she can print them out and take them to the hospital with her."

HTH

TigerFeet · 08/04/2008 21:15

I would have loved a mooncup as a present... I had to buy my own and it was £17 I could have done without shelling out at the time.

ladywombling · 08/04/2008 21:34

Welcome back Mrs C, glad to hear you had a good time but sorry about the keys (and you FMF).

Franny, agree, can you put laptop on table?

BBBee - Mooncup pressie, depends on how high maintenance your friend is, present wise.

ES - Snap, is my (2nd) wedding anniversary tomorrow too! (we had 2 weddings, 2 weeks apart) We have broken out the fizz a day early Where are you going to celebrate?

Have had courgette, carrot, onion, psb, lettuce, apple.

ladywombling · 08/04/2008 21:44

Oh Zippi, missed your BF on the TV, will have to see if I can find on Iplayer.

It is DS birthday on Friday, we are having a birthday tea on Saturday with family and a couple of friends. Am a bit cross, as was planning to do v smple food, and my ssiter has manouvered me into cooking a biriyani for all the adults on top of all the baking.

I am stressed about consultant appointment for DS on Thurs as is, and would rather not have to sort out messy cooking on Sat am.

Mrs C - thnk Tigerfeet's mate has some great ideas to help you when in hosp. I do know what you mean about expressing, I never got much off when trying to pump in addition to all direct feeds, but was fine if pumping instead of feeding directly, this might work for you?

I know what you mean about demanding night feeds, ever since the hospital stay, DS is back to feeding every 1-2 hours, and it is killing me. He woke 5 times between 12 ans 5.30 yesterday, and was then up for the day. He has also decided he doesn't want to feed lying down, and wants to sleep in my arms, not next to me or in his cot. I am getting a bit desperate for sleep, if I am honest.

FrayedKnot · 08/04/2008 21:45

I do not have a mooncup

Mostly becasue I have not been bothered to get myself one

Unfortunately it is not my birthday until December however.

Franny sorry to hear about your back. What will you do...can you not have laptop on the kitchen table or summat?

Fullmoonfiend · 08/04/2008 21:51

careful - someone might offer to weave you one outta lentils......

Fullmoonfiend · 08/04/2008 21:52

Why has no-one on here seen Once? I want to talk about him it!

stuffitllama · 08/04/2008 21:52

Ooh I haven;t seen Once eiethr.

Was it great?

I have been doing inversions at yoga

I feel all upside downy

TooTicky · 08/04/2008 22:55

My beanburger and cabbage fest has been having a stonking effect on my, ahem, lower airways.

Today I have had apple, carrot, orange, kiwi, fruit juice and mixed dried fruit.

ES, I did post my beanburger recipe Bet you're just scared of the stonking effect

UnderRated · 09/04/2008 01:14

That's the chap, FMF. Thanks for the link. Isn't Once a fabulous film? I love it. I think they are together in real life. I have the soundtrack.

I doubt I'd be cooking for anyone, wombling. Can't they eat something easier to make. Or perhaps you could do something you can bung in the oven and leave for ages so you don't need to faff about too on the day.

Fab gift, BBBeee. I haven't done that yet - I keep the virtues of mooncuppery to myself but perhaps I should be brave and give one to my sister for her birthday. I really don't think she'll 'get' it though. I love mine though. I'd appreciate it, BBBeee.

Yes, ES, Tooticky did do her beanburger recipe - it was along the lines of 'I mashed up some beans and added some ancient curry powder and a blob of tahini'

Peas, corn, strawberries, kiwi, orange, broccoli, mushrooms and soybeans. Do they count if they have bean roasted and salted? I am guessing not.

UnderRated · 09/04/2008 01:20

Apologies for the incomprehensible sentences, missing words and repetition. No excuse. Am just rubbish.

FrannyandZooey · 09/04/2008 07:59

UR that was not a rubbish post and look at all the f+v you ate

I don't know Once either - should I watch it?

I am at the dining room table
it's just that I usually relax in the evening sprawled on the sofa - can't quite imagine relaxing in the evening sat bolt upright at the dining room table

I find it quite funny that they have decided the back problem is due to bad posture (well tell me something I didn't know? however you try being taller than anyone else when you are 13 years old) so they have taped my shoulders back. It's sort of mediaeval in its simplicity. And quite cheap I would imagine.

strawberries, melon, raisins, banana, orange juice
probably 3.5

Morning
Happy anniversary ES, what are you doing to celebrate?
Will it get better after pg Franny or is it just gen'ral?
UR v interesting combination of f & v

f and v nothing so far.. just came on to say hello

zippitippitoes · 09/04/2008 08:37

how can you love a mooncup

i find the whole periods thing such a horror

warning tmi coming up

when idid that walk of 22 miles

the day before i drove to my friends house to stay the night before we did it

drive took two hours and just before i got there i managed to have a flood and so arrived and had to rush upstairs and take my clothes off which was all v embarrassing

which meant i then only had one pair of jeans for the walk

i then had to ask her to tell her dh that i was having a horrible period as of course facilities on this walk were spoarse

the poor bloke then spent the whole of the next day saying are you all right zippi

so to do this walk i had pads and tampons and a general fear of gross embarrassment

how on earth would a mooncup make it any better
