I am sat here in tears about what a cow your MIL is. She is a complete bitch and doesn't deserve a son, daughter in law and grandchildren like you all. You are all amazingly brilliant, fantastic, kind, thoughtful etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc and she is amazingly crap, bad, mean, rude, vindictive, bullying........

TimeForMe · 24/04/2008 09:20

You are amazing OJ. I have nothing but admiration for you. Thinking of you and sending lots of love xxx

NorthernLurker · 24/04/2008 09:38

Your mil and all the family were told repeatedly why the 24 hour cae was needed. It's like they just shut their ears to the suicide risk bit and still can't get past that. It does sound like you have had good support at the meeting. I think you are quite right to buy flowers.

KathG · 24/04/2008 09:44

OJ you are amazing! A quick thought, have you had a mate back up/make copies of the video from yesterday?

hoarsewhisperer · 24/04/2008 09:46

OJ, I havn't really posted on your thread before, but I have been following your progress and I am shocked at what Steve's family are putting you through. Of course you need 24 hour care for Steve. Even without the suicide risk issues, you also have so many other things to deal with. Your MIL should thank her lucky stars that her son married such a strong woman.

I have nothing but admiration for you. You are quite right to buy her flowers and to rise above her level, it just confirms what a generous person you are and shows her up for the mean spirited, cruel and slefish individual she is.

LilRedWG · 24/04/2008 11:12

OJ, yet again I am speechless! Evil old bag!

lilyloo · 24/04/2008 11:53

OJ am glad Steve got to spend Elliots birthday with him and that it will be a nice memory for him.
Shame about your mil but i think your right about not going to her level and getting her a bunch of flowers for her bday, the fact that you can look at this through Steves eyes shows why you are a much better person than any of his family who seem only to be able to think of themselves

OJ once agin you have proved that you are the bigger person. Even though MIL is a selfish manipulative witch drama queen.

fortyplus · 24/04/2008 12:54

OJ you are an inspiration. How totally selfless of you to get flowers for mil. As you say, no doubt it will be a bewildering experience for her!

onlyjoking9329 · 24/04/2008 13:03

vist went ok, she was at least civil to me, there was no mention from her about elliots birthday and no present either.
Elliot knows she was coming today and he said he couldn't wait to see what pressie she brought for him, do i tell him she didn't bring him anything or do i get him a pressie and say it is from her?
i got a phonecall from school this morning to say Abbey not well could i pick her up, i couldn't go and get her cos MIL is not allowed to vist unless i am here, so my mate went to get her, she is in bed asleep now and i will have to keep her apart from steve as he doesn't need a bug.

"Heaping coals on the devils head" I believe it's called.

How apt !!

fortyplus · 24/04/2008 13:06

Maybe she will bring E's present later? I think it's important to get him something from her, but maybe she has got something and will use it as another excuse to call in?

Could you ask her if she's forgotten?

Your MIL {shock] - I think I would get Elliot a present and say it was from her - for his sake. She is a truly selfish person. Was she always like this to you/Steve and the kids??

Keep the moral high ground as you are - and you will never have reason to regret - she can wallow in hers.......

onlyjoking9329 · 24/04/2008 13:27

she won't bring elliot a present later as she is not coming later, she told the carer that steves brother is coming later, steves brother hasn't let me know that he is comin thou, she has always mad a big thing about seeing the kids on thier birthdays, got a card throu the post for elliot from her with a lovely badge on it that says best grandson in the world

mamalovesmojitos · 24/04/2008 13:48

oj. have followed your threads. never posted before. let me say i am hot with rage reading about your stupid, selfish, ridiculous, horrible, disgusting mil. christ!

you are such a strong, classy woman. you should be so proud. your children are so lucky to have such an amazing mum.

mrsjohnnydepp is so right. you will never have reason to regret.

keep enjoying the trifles

smartiejake · 24/04/2008 14:55

Only problem with buying a present from bitch cow from hell MIL. Won't Elliot thank her for it next time he sees her?

Actually that's not a bad idea- lay the guilt trip on her good and proper!

NorthernLurker · 24/04/2008 15:56

I would buy him a present - why should he have to feel sad and disappointed in his grandmother as well as everything else he has to deal with. What is wrong with that woman? She is quite simply dreadful.

probablyaslytherin · 24/04/2008 16:34

OJ I haven't posted before, but like many many others I'm sure, I'm just 'keeping you company' through this and sending you my very best wishes.

I wanted to say: don't give Elliot a present and say its from his granny. Don't burden yourself with the knowledge that you've lied to him. Also, as someone said he might thank her next time he sees her. Also, if you were caught out in this, I don't think she'd thank you for it. By the sound of her she wouldn't be thankful that you prevented Elliot being disappointed in her but would just interpret it as you being critical of her again. I think the best way to deal with her is to realise she does not function like the average human being with the usual quota of compassion and selflessness, to put it mildly.

How to explain the lack of a presi from gran to Elliot? Maybe say she is so busy and so worried about his dad just now she hasn't had a chance to get one yet. Could you ask Mike to remind her?

Surely she is not punishing you through Elliot? (Tho' I suppose I wouldn't put it past her)

Hope the present issue gets sorted out with the minimum of upset to all concerned.

(PS Am regular mner but have changed my name recently - never liked the old one )

MozzybearBaileysIce · 24/04/2008 17:28

MiL was probably scared to leave house. It was St George's day and thats got to be a bad day for dragons

NorthernLurker · 24/04/2008 17:42

LOL

MrsJonnyDepp · 24/04/2008 18:01

Very good 'Bad day for dragons!'

Keep strong - you need a medal (several!)

Izabella · 24/04/2008 20:16

OJ, thank God there was no more abuse from your MIL today. How could she not even buy Elliot a present??? Hope the visit from Steve's brother went ok too. Sorry I can't chat to you tonight as I've got an early start with work tomorrow but tomorrow night I have no set time when I need to be in bed so I could chat to you after 10 then. Will txt you to arrange a time. I just want to give you some support after all the grief you've had off Steve's family. Hope Abbey is feeling better. Much love to you, Steve and the children xxx
