For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

'nobbo' is a fab insult - i have used it three times since you did - kind of retro crass.

i loved the pineapple - and i loved the card - was a chosen for me card rather than from a draw card.

for which i love, it and you.

UnderRated · 31/03/2008 22:23

Oh, she's little Boco. No idea what to suggest. Lavender oil perhaps (for you). Wine (again for you)?

S1ur · 31/03/2008 22:24

Sympathies Boco my dd is a similar age (was 3 in Sept) and has definitely gone through similar obnoxious challenging phases.

I have run again today that's me all exhausted [halo emoticon]

And reckon I'm on about 7 f&v.

some of which came from our slightly shivery impromptu bbq. We had our new garden furniture delivered and decided to test out the bbq the previous occupants left for us.

It was lurverly, veggie kebabs and hot dogs and salad. yum.

S1ur · 31/03/2008 22:27

Oh Boco I bet she's smart right? I think the bright ones are always more work

It is a cusp. She a baby and needs you. She's a big girl and don't you dare treat her like a baby. She's practically an adult of course she knows what's best!

Constance and Wine my dear.

Boco · 31/03/2008 22:32

You're right Slur, it is a cusp thing.

She absolutely refuses to let me choose what she wears or how she has her hair or what socks she puts on, and I can't help, everything is done herself. MYSELF! She cried the other day because she wasn't allowed to DRIVE herself back from pre-school! She was still crying when dp opened the door, hurled her in and went back to work saying 'can YOU explain to her that she cannot reach the pedals and does not have a license because she is not listening to me!'

S1ur · 31/03/2008 22:39

Its incredible and funny - if it wasn't so mind-numbingly frustrating.

UnderRated · 31/03/2008 23:10

My DS has moments like this but perhaps not yet to that extent. With him, it is always about being in control and exerting his independence - making his own decisions, doing things by himself etc. It is hard when you can't yet reason with them.

UnderRated · 31/03/2008 23:13

On a completely different note, how much water should we be drinking? Is 1 litre enough?

BBBee · 31/03/2008 23:33

i don;t know ur - i think a lot but i also know that if you are eating lots of f&v you get plenty from there.

I am giving up drinking alcohol for a bit - partly zippi advice, partly feeling a bit portly and partly because I was looking forward to a bit a bit too much at the end of a hard day.

I have eaten a honey sandwich tonight instead though.

BBBee · 01/04/2008 00:14

i should boco only works if you say boco in the wrong right way.

precious ds asked the dinner lady today if their chicken was free range - to which she repiled 'how should I know I just get it out of the packet and put it in the oven'

I was simultanousely and

mainly i think.

UnderRated · 01/04/2008 03:25

@ BBBee's DS!

I say Boco wrong. I do most things wrong, actually.

morning
I've bee reading that nestle thread and feel ineffably and
I am sorry people don't like
I have got into terrible trouble from not using emoticons, every time I read someone say how crass they are I try to do some posts without them and invariably get in a fight
I think I shall carry on ing

Bococ, not want you want to hear, but that made me lol.

My dd2 is like that, but a little oldre (was 3 last August).
I can honestly say though that the last couple of months she has calmed down, and is much easier to bargain with.
Her catchphrase is "are you telling me off, mummy"?

Dd1 was laways really well behaved, and easy to persaude.
Now she is 7 and thinks she is 14, and can be very rude and unkind to dd2. But it is a phase .

TooTicky · 01/04/2008 12:48

Boco, you should write. You put things so brilliantly and you can illustrate too.

Vegan mayonnaise is not disgusting.

Bee, thanks for your offer of books. I would love to borrow some when there is some space in my brain.
I'm actually a bit worried about my brain atm - my memory is very inconsistent and I feel as if I'm trying to think through clouds most of the time. I say, "Um..." a lot when my mind is at a standstill and I keep finding myself staring into the fridge for no good reason.
Please tell me this is normal....

FrannyandZooey · 01/04/2008 13:06

vegan mayonnaise served on a dog is disgusting

TooTicky · 01/04/2008 13:07

Ah well, as a vegan I don't eat dogs.

Boco · 01/04/2008 13:07

Thanks Toots, that's a very nice thing to hear. I wanted to ask MN if they'd let me illustrate their books but was too shy, and they have someone anyway [bluster]

Vegan Mayonnaise IS disgusting.

And yes, totally normal to stare at the fridge wondering how you got there - I do it all the time, also don't seem to be able to register the word 'mummy' so they have to say it 245 times before I gradually emerge out of dream state and realise there are red faced short people yelling at me for food / drink / refereeing of disputes etc.

Am eating strawberries.

FrannyandZooey · 01/04/2008 13:08

TooT you sound tired...

baked beans and black eyed beans for lunch - 2

grapes, pineapple, kiwi, banana and raisins for breakfast - 4

OP posts:
TooTicky · 01/04/2008 13:12

Oh, I have a problem with the "Mummy!" thing. Dd2 tends to say it many times in succession, getting progressively louder, and not giving me a chance to respond, and I feel like a rabbit caught in headlights.

Vegan mayonnaise is useful. The eggy sort is unspeakably foul.

TooTicky · 01/04/2008 13:13

I am tired.

Fruit spread. Fruit bread. 0.5?

FrannyandZooey · 01/04/2008 13:20

oh if we are doing HALVES
orange juice
6.5
I'm going to get my 10 today, yes indeed

I have a teenager coming over later to play with ds just so I can have a rest
this feels incredibly self-indulgent
it was partly brokered with dp after BenchGate last week

OP posts:
TooTicky · 01/04/2008 13:25

I am only doing halves because I don'y have any wholes to boast about.

FrannyandZooey · 01/04/2008 13:42

have one of mine [magnanimous]

OP posts:
TooTicky · 01/04/2008 14:01

Thanks. I'll have the pineapple
