For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

woohooo I want a moon diary
it sounds marvellous
we have a calendar with the Dalai Lama on and it tells you when it is an inauspicious day to hang prayer flags
saved me many a time, that one

ds went to bed easy peasy last night but couldn't get to sleep tonight. Mind you he slept this morning until 7 until his usual 6 or earlier, so I suppose it is to be expected

am eating strawberries (dp bought far too many and they need eating)
had asparagus for dinner, and corn
am food miles nightmare

did I say I did GYM
10 mins bike, 10 mins treadmill
few weights but can only do sitting down, and only one bench at gym
during the day gym is mostly frequented by elderly / poorly people and a woman was using the bench to do an exercise where she stood up, then sat down, stood up, sat down, for about 10 minutes
I was waiting to use it and was keeping half an eye on her to see when she finished
every time she stood up I thought "ah.....oh"

dd2 is driving me nuts today.

She's always been so easy and happy and suddenly she's difficult and defiant and doing everything possible to create mayhem. She's refusing to go to bed - she refused to eat her dinner, she undressed 4 times today and kept on putting on swimming costumes just as I was trying to get out to the shop, refusing to put on shoes, saying NO to everything. She's never been like this, but gradually is going through a kind of delayed terrible twos. My patience is vanishing and I keep sounding like a nightmare person and yelling - I'm not really a yeller and hate the fact that I can't find other resources.

If I ever tell dd1 off, she's horrified - she'll do anything to avoid disapproval which in itself isn't great - but dd2 is the other end of the scale, and being told off is something funny - the angrier I am the funnier it is.

Sorry, just offloading as she's wailing on the stairs and I can't actually think of a good sensible way to handle it.

BBBee · 31/03/2008 21:06

some lazy googling found this moondiary

it could rival cod's mumsnet arent' I an organised fucker diary - we could have a diary off.

I will look into the german one too - moon diary and german don't go together really. I wish I could recreate the woman telling me about it in the playground as she always seems like she is telling you off in a matter-of-fact german accent even though she is asking if you consult the moon about digging your allotment.

She takes flourodix - she is quite 10/10

BBBee · 31/03/2008 21:10

boco - i think the bootom line is that sometimes they are just really irritating these children. Lovely (of course) but also frustratingly, teeth clenchingly, hair tearingly irritating. (Sartre said that)

Boco · 31/03/2008 21:14

I'm supremely irritated.

She keeps having tummy ache and I'm really not convinced that it's real - it'll be in the middle of the night, every meal time, bath time, when she's been asked not to do something - I don't like to doubt her if she's really got a tummy ache, but I'm pretty sure it's made up. She's SO convincing - she does stomach clutching and rolling around and wailing. Am trying to ignore, and a bit of me is thinking 'what if it really is something and I'm ignoring?'

Sigh.

Hello.

Last day at work was fine - was concerned I might have got emotional but this was not the case.

Got a card, an M&S gift card and a small vase with tulips (I think) in it, and was sent happily on my way .

Just had starter of the casserole DH and children had for lunch. It was called Islands, with the chicken being the islands, rice being the sea and sweet potato being boats. DS then told people in the park all about it .

I am somewhat tired.

FrayedKnot · 31/03/2008 21:45

DS has a place at the school we wanted

Sorry DD is being difficult Boco.

DS was like that for aaaaagges, he is better now. Has got more sensible and can be reasoned with.

Idris - must have been a bit odd...are you feeling OK about it? I know it;s what you wnated.

I think I need a moon diary. I am already at the mercy of my hormones to an extent that I have never experienced before. I think I may as well throw a little moon madness in there as well.

BBBee · 31/03/2008 21:46

I realised that it might have been rude to infer that you were all weird hippies - you know I love you right?

Also is that post about the german woman racist? I am so scared about being racist when I didn't mean german people but this particular friend.

Now I am apologising too much and so you are making a note that I am an aggresive horrible racist aren't you.

FrayedKnot · 31/03/2008 21:47

Sorry Boco perhaps it would be more helpful if I thought of tactics. I'm nhot sure I had any really, apart from getting very annoyed

I must have done though.

BBBee · 31/03/2008 21:47

fk - that is good about the school. these things become scarily important.

UnderRated · 31/03/2008 21:57

Great news FK.

UnderRated · 31/03/2008 21:59

Oh dear, I meant BBBee Boco is not looking uncomfortable at all. And Bee, I didn't think you sounded racist at all. That's the kind of thing I would say then immediately regret because I would think everyone would be looking at me like

ahundredtimes · 31/03/2008 21:59

Hey! Has anyone else noticed what a nasty racist BBee is? I was just wondering.

Am flying through. Hope all well. Boco - how tiresome. Perhaps she's tired? [hollow laugh]

ahundredtimes · 31/03/2008 22:01

And my dd is SIX and put her nightdress on to go to friends' house today and when I did eye rolling said 'whaaat?'

ahundredtimes · 31/03/2008 22:02

BBee I was joking. You know that right? God, you really can't make jokes with the R word can you? I should have done a but i try to avoid them because of all the teeth and general cheek straining.

ahundredtimes · 31/03/2008 22:02

[implodes in a burst of yellowness and teeth]

BBBee · 31/03/2008 22:08

i do so hate the of all of them i hate the most.

BBBee · 31/03/2008 22:10

i think we killed the thread with t 'r' word - channel 4 will evict us now.

new title anyone?

Boco · 31/03/2008 22:11

Was just staring for ages at UR's post about me squirming and wondering why I was squirming.

I guess dd is entering a phase, but I'd like her not to because she's been very nice so far, and now she does mad and difficult things. Yesterday at friends house she asked his husband why he had a big fat head. She trod on their dog and wiped vegan mayonnaise on its back, she fell down some cellar steps (ok not entirely her fault, but she shouldn't have been breaking into their cellar) then wailed and shouted for 5 hours home on the motorway, partly due to croup, but partly mad demands for unsuitable things. I'm so relieved when she falls asleep.

(I know this is boring)

At the inlaws she went into mils wardrobe and found a sack of kapok stuffing (is that how you spell it?), then emptied the whole thing in my bed - all of it, rubbed it into her clothes and hair. It took 4 of us an hour of hoovering to clean it up, we were all red eyed and sneezing, and when challenged she swore blind it was her cousin who'd done it, she seemed so truthful and innocent, all big blue eyes and wobbly lip. And I said very quietly 'are you telling a lie' and she grinned at me and said 'YES I AM MUMMY HA!'

I will stop moaning about her now.

BBBee · 31/03/2008 22:11

they put basil in the ratatoullie

something to do with the sa-cla advert

i should boco?

BBBee · 31/03/2008 22:13

boco - she is objecting at having to go to houses where there is vegan mayonaise and kapok stuffing you nobbbo.

BBBee · 31/03/2008 22:14

(the post before was attempts at thread tritles but I alwys need help here)

(boco was flattered to be mistaken for you)

UnderRated · 31/03/2008 22:14

So sorry Boco

Your DD sounds as if she is going through a very frustrating phase. What is she like at school?

I love I should Boco btw

Boco · 31/03/2008 22:17

UR she's not at school yet as was 3 end of Dec. She does 2 sessions at pre-school but I have no idea what she's like. Probably fairly noisy.

Nobbo is a good insult isn't it bee, I liked calling you a nobbo yesterday. Did you like your birthday pineapple?

Vegan mayonnaise is bloody disgusting. But friend made up for that with booja booja chocolate so dd cannot complain.
