For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I don't hate hugs but I haven't had a shower this morning Lully

you may wish to go and disinfect yourself

OP posts:
lullabyloo · 30/03/2008 11:31

me either
we can have a stinky hug

lullabyloo · 30/03/2008 11:32

the underfloor heating in the bathroom is up the creak & the window is jammed so it's bloody freezing in there

eternalstudent · 30/03/2008 11:34

Fair play Franny, I'd be the same. DH & I drink too much, hence the month off. One day I expect I'll pack it in altogether.

Orange, cherry toms, raisins.

I'm making a lamb n kidney stew with dumplings today. I am obsessed with good ol' fashioned proper food at the mo. Not much veg to speak of in there, but it'll prob be salad or chickpea curry for tea.

lullabyloo · 30/03/2008 11:40

When is ds's birthday Franny?
What did you decide to do re party bags?

Fullmoonfiend · 30/03/2008 11:43

And Franny, I got quite angry irritated when we are so poor and dh goes out at 6pm ''for one drink'' with his best mate and rolls back at midnight. He didn't come home drunk or anything, it's just the thought of all that money he must have spent, when I am dithering over ice creams for the kids in the Easter hols.

Tatties · 30/03/2008 11:46

Morning all

I haven't showered yet either, I must go and do it soon...

We are most definitely approaching ovulation here

Franny those long talks are exhausting aren't they? I am glad if you feel things are sorted now. Do you feel better? It is also a big deal for me if dp drinks too much, for various reasons, but one of them being that I hate feeling like the only ultimately responsible parent.

MarsLady · 30/03/2008 11:46

just to say how much I like the thread title. Another triumph

eternalstudent · 30/03/2008 11:47

I've just noticed talk of camping. Can we come? DH thinks he is a professional camper. Snurk.

stuffitllama · 30/03/2008 11:55

morning all
one orange but carrots in hand
sorry to hear about your dad wombling, I hope he gets better soon
zippi I love the sound of your working party!
have rubbish weather here -- garden is like a mossy swamp and don't know what to do as may have to give house back this year and have to repair lawn before the summer
fran .. i should have remembered about babe as I responded to your other thread and you wanting pg support instead of bender, sorry about that
wish we were going camping this year, did it in the pouring rain last year and it was still super lovely fun

stuffitllama · 30/03/2008 11:56

can i catch up on the stupid armpits? have they failed their morning iq test?

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2008 12:08

My armpits have a degree in engineering

I have eaten grapes, strawberries, pineapple and raisins

I think a 10/ 10 holiday would be so lovely

Tatties I feel fine but I wish dp would occasionally speak to someone more qualified than me to offer support and advice. A lot of his stuff is about his mother but he will keep it locked away. We talked it all through and he realises he just couldn't handle the situation (free bar, an afternoon revolving around drinking and not at a sit down meal etc) and will avoid it in future.

Lully ds's birthday is the 10th, his party is the coming Saturday. I am doing party bags with 3 colours of home made playdough, a biodegradable pot with a sunflower seed, a glow stick bracelet (pplastic shite but wildly popular in this house) and a piece of cake

or actually I would like your opinion: I thought of doing a really nice fairy cake with their initial on, for each child's party bag
the cakes I tend to make are usually a bit ramshackle to say the least and ds wants one with fruit and cream in
cutting it last year was a disaster and had to be delegated to clever friend who did a sterling job, but was stuck in the kitchen for about 15 mins doing it instead of enjoying the party
and I bet it all got smooshed on the way home
do you think individual fairy cakes would be acceptable? and just blow out candles, offer cake to hungry people at the party?

LOL at stuffit's carrots. Was your frisky text good? I like the sound of frisky texts but can't try them out as we only have one phone. Actually we have NO phone as dp lost it while bladdered. We could text the people that nicked it, I suppose?

hello Mars!

Avi how was ds last night?

FMF I am now feeling the goodness of that telepathic talk. You were quite right about everything

Wombling sorry to hear about your dad. Is ds still on the mend?

Lionheart WHAT did you eat? You can't leave us hanging like that.

Zip did you mean your children or just random children from the neighbourhood? It all sounds a bit Huck Finn. Or is it Tom Sawyer? I get confused....

student are you SURE you got 9 hours? It wasn't just that the clocks went forward?

stuffitllama · 30/03/2008 12:14

The fairy cake initials sound great and quite straightforward, so you have those supermarket tubes of coloured chemicals icing? Yes i think it's nice to eat the birthday cake at the party. Putting it in the bags is so much extra work, whereas you could wrap all the fairy cakes in napkins beforehand.

A really delicious cake is regular sponge with oodles of whipped cream and lashings of strawberries. It's more like dessert but it is so fantastic. (and quite easy).

I also love opening presents at the party though I know it's a bit old fashioned now.

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2008 12:18

Last year I did sponge with lemon curd and cream inside, and lots of whipped cream and blueberries (ds's favourite at the time) on the top

it was yummy but messy and hard to cut into a neat slice

I was thinking about an initial in chocolate buttons? Or maybe chocolate sprinkles? (you could use a stecil or am I being ridiculous?) those icing tubes are a bit frightening, aren't they?

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2008 12:19

stencil

OP posts:
stuffitllama · 30/03/2008 12:25

I've used them (but not the yellow ones!) on the same grounds that my children have a coke every now and then. It makes life easier once a year! Isn't it going to be hard to do an initial in chocolate buttons? Big fairy cake needed no?

I guess if you do your own butter icing and pipe it it's not so bad, then put choc sprinkles over -- they won't cover up the initial just make it look more fun?

lullabyloo · 30/03/2008 12:25

Franny,I think individual fairy cakes are much nicer actually than a slab of squished cake

Tubes of icing are very scary
You can get chocolate letters from somewhere

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2008 12:26

oh god I can't PIPE
tbh I don't think I can handle the tube icing or I would probably do it
you are right about the buttons

oh well
maybe just very pretty fairy cake? I guess raisin initials wouldn't go down well?

OP posts:
lullabyloo · 30/03/2008 12:26

could melt chocolate & drizzle a letter on

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2008 12:26

chocolate LETTERS now you are talking
where where where

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2008 12:27

my drizzled chocolate would NOT look like a letter
it might look like a mishap

OP posts:
lullabyloo · 30/03/2008 12:27

lol at raisin initials.....um probably not

stuffitllama · 30/03/2008 12:28

or

greaseproof paper

melted chocolate

drizzle initial onto greaseproof paper

leave to cool

stick on with butter icing

da daaaah!

or not? maybe
