For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

i really think we should all stop trying to eat vegetables and then maybe we would find ourselves miraculously eating loads

Bonsoir mes amis,

F&V Nil, Choc/carbs three, so I am afaid that today I do't qualify to hold your hand Lionheart. How are you? How is the work going.

FMF - how are you my lovely? I keep just missing you, and I have missed you IYKWIM. Am ploughing slowly through my book at the mo, I read the last one in one sitting, how have you found it?

DS has whinged and grizzled and been velcro baby all day, while DD has been lovely. I am cream-crackered and look & feel grey and dingy today with sore face from dentist.

We were supposed to be off to lunnon town this w/end to meet my 2 wk old new nephew (me desperate for a nb cuddle), and to celbrate my lovely great aunts 75th birthday with a suprise party. I am v disappointed we can't go with ill DC's.

My GA is inspirational, had her husband die of cancer in the 70's, she took over his shop in central london and brought up 4 dc's by herself, she used to take the bus and tube into london in her sari 6 days a week, and put them all through uni etc. When I was 18 I lived with her for 2 years and she treated me better than my own mum.

I really wanted to be there to celebrate with her.

lionheart · 28/03/2008 19:38

Thanks zippi.

I am sure marmalade does count, FMF.

lionheart · 28/03/2008 19:40

Work is over for now, wombling, thank the lord in heaven and praise the almighty (don't worry I haven't become born again, I'm just demob happy).

Sorry to hear your DCs have been having a roght time. What a shame about the newborn cuddle and party.

Oh Wombling, what a shame

Lionheart, I will hold your hand

I have had tomato soup, apple, cabbage, carrot and masses of roast squash

The heating oil indicator is showing 0 [fear]

TooTicky · 28/03/2008 21:07

Oh dear Zippi, sending you iron stomach vibes.

lionheart · 28/03/2008 21:17

Thanks TooT. How are you?

We may need to hold zippi's hand too.

TooTicky · 28/03/2008 21:18

Tired and skint and waiting for some proper spring sunshine - WITHOUT the howling wind.

How are you?

lionheart · 28/03/2008 21:25

Also waiting for the sunshine and for everything to be less water-logged.

TooTicky · 28/03/2008 21:30

Fingers crossed for a warm April then, whilst holding hands and eating f&v

lionheart · 28/03/2008 21:35

I really hope so because I am going to a caravan park in Dorset in a couple of weeks

and it will have to be very stiff upper lip and ho hum we're all in this together unless the Spring springs soon.

ladywombling · 28/03/2008 21:38

Hello TooT,

Lionheart, is the work all submitted and done for good now? Yay you if so

Am on sofa, house is a tip, so tired my shoulders are around my ears, and can't get the energy to get up and do anything.

lionheart · 28/03/2008 21:42

Work is done for now.

Do you think that lots of people feel gloomy and tired because of the sun not coming thing?

TooTicky · 28/03/2008 22:10

In the last couple of years, I have noticed that the sun has a huge effect on my mood. I still can't stand extreme heat, and I can enjoy wintry bits, but spring sunshine is absolutely vital. I miss it when it doesn't appear and bask when it does.

FrayedKnot · 28/03/2008 22:18

Oh yes the weather

Can anyone remember when they last went outside and it wasn;t either freezing, hailing, pouring, or knee deep in muddy puddles?

Zippi

Wombling you've had a very ahrd week, hope you can rest over the weekend. Sorry about missing out on your London trip. Your Great Aunt sounds fabulous, hope you get to see her again soon.

I'm planning a gym visit tomorrow if I cna muster the energy..followed by a party at the Soft Play centre

ladywombling · 28/03/2008 22:22

Crap FK:

Soft play = Seventh circle of hell

TooTicky · 28/03/2008 22:26

FK, have you found any almond milk yet? Health food shops usually have it - or H&B?
You can make your own, even without a machine, but I rather dream of owning the magical machine that can make milk from any nut, grain or bean in seven seconds or something.

Hello Wombling

FrayedKnot · 28/03/2008 22:27

Well, put it this way.

It was soft play or housework.

Now usually I would choose a nice tranquil bit of hoovering, but this time I volunteered for soft play. I've done so much washing, cooking & cleaning up over the last few days I've had enough.

But I may well take earplugs

TooTicky · 28/03/2008 22:28

Soft play places vary so much though. The one closest to us is an utter hellhole, but another is actually quite pleasant. It has daylight, which helps.

FrayedKnot · 28/03/2008 22:29

Oh, no TooT, I haven;t, but I've not looked in the Health Food shop yet. I quite fancied trying making it, but then I read somewhere if you use the wrong kind of almonds you can produce cyanide so I thought I'd better buy it ready made

TooTicky · 28/03/2008 22:30

The wrong kind of almonds? with a hint of

FrayedKnot · 28/03/2008 22:31

Our soft play on a Saturday is, frankly, hell.

Where's Frances tonight? have I missed something? And Boco?

I hope MrsC is having a good break and being pampered.

TooTicky · 28/03/2008 22:32

ooh, look

FrayedKnot · 28/03/2008 22:32

Yes well I was also a bit but if anyone would end up with the wrong kind of almonds it would be me.
