I was advised a gyni review.. fast forward to yesterday I seen my gyni and she looked at the report and said it does sound like hydrosalpinx.. she didn't look at the images though just read the report from the sonographer who did put possibly hydrosalpinx.. has anyone ever had this and if so what wer your symptoms.. I currently have pelvic .. groin .. back and leg pain.. and its making me feel ill.. just want to know other peoples experiences please.. thanks my lovelies xxxxx

I just googled it and says it’s a condition where fluid accumulates in a fallopian tube and can cause a blockage.

Sara08 · 24/01/2024 13:32

Yeah it is something like I wanted to know if there's anyone out there who can tell me if these symptoms are normal :(

I have something similar - haematosalphinx so my fallopian tubes are full of blood rather than other fluid. I don't actually have any pain from it although I am having them both removed this weekend. How long have you been in pain for? Mine was caused by a pelvic infection but these sort of things are often due to endometriosis.

IV been in pain for months had coil out a few weeks ago and it's gone worse ... Its like a pressure and a dull ache always there ... Gyni has given me antibiotics don't know why... Also it says STI can give them but been with husband 8 years .. I do no I had BV which later in I found out it's been untreated a long time as I thought it's coz of the coil.. could that cause this

Hi OP.
I had a scan today after having some issues with my periods and raised CA125 and they found fibroids and hydrosalpinx. I’m 46 so not planning on needing my tubes - have gynae follow up next week and wondering what they’ll say about if it needs removing.
I’ve not really had symptoms as such, just heavy and painful periods and a bit of a full feeling in my pelvis

Sara0 · 20/02/2024 06:58

Hi hun did they tell u how big it was or the size to it ?

Sara0 · 20/02/2024 06:59

Endometriosis can cause this. Not saying it definitely is this though. EndometriosisUK have a good website if you wanted to look into it more.

It’s awful isn’t it, I really sympathise. Endometriosis won’t show up on an ultrasound for what’s it’s worth. Have you got any more appointments with gyne coming up? If not then push for them.

Sara08 · 20/02/2024 22:14

@YellowHatt I have got an appointment on 6th march with a endo specialist... I really want to be put out my misery 😕 once I know what it is maybe my mind can have some peace ... do you have endometriosis or hydrosalpinx ? X

Both. The hydrosalpinx was caused by the endo. I had both sides blocked but it was cleared during surgery to treat the endo and I haven’t had an issue since. It can come back though if it turns out it is endo, but equally you might get it sorted and never have a problem again.

Glad you’ve got an appointment coming up. Hope you get the answers you want. In the meantime I’d suggest focusing on pain management. TENs machines can be helpful, and keeping on top of any pain medication.

Sara08 · 21/02/2024 11:07

@YellowHatt I'm so glad I found u!!!! I have been looking for u on this website for 2 months !!! Someone who has the same issues.. did u hydrosalpinx give u pain? Like a dull ache ?? Like did they say how swollen ur tubes were in cm?

OP posts:
YellowHatt · 21/02/2024 11:45

That’s ok! Happy to answer Qs. I felt exactly the same as you did looking for answers back then.

It gave me a lot of pain yes, I really sympathise. I was signed off work with it in the end. But to be fair mostly because the nature of the job I did at that time meant I wouldn't be able to take the stronger pain meds. The type of pain varied from dull aches (but constant so it wore you down) and like a white hot pain. I didn’t have pain in my back like you, most of my pain was pelvic.

They had suspicions from ultrasounds but until the operation wouldn’t say for sure. Then once they were doing the operation they could tell it was extensive endo (stage 4) and a few other issues including hyrosalpinx. They didn’t ever give me any measurements, it’s possibly somewhere in my notes.

Really glad I had the surgery. I felt much better after and as it’s keyhole it wasn’t too bad recovery wise.

Hope that helps!

Sara08 · 21/02/2024 12:08

Yes! My pain is daily.. I have the hydrosalpinx on my left tube and my pain is some where deep inside the left side and middle pelvis area and its like a dull ache....

Is it to much if I ask u to check ur notes and see how big urs was if that's possible please 🙏

Everyone I spoke to said it has no symptoms so I convinced myself I have something more sinister.... but 3 ultrasounds said hydro and it just keeps getting bigger in each scan

I suffer from massive health anxiety as my daughter died due to negligence in 2021 and u had a 36 hour labour they got mixed up with mine and her heartbeats....

I just want the 6th march to hurry
Up I can't live limlke this woth this pain anymore 😪

Did they offer u surgery them self's or did u have to push for it and was it the gynae who referred u for surgery x

OP posts:
YellowHatt · 21/02/2024 12:27

I’m sorry for your loss, that’s just awful, words can’t describe. Flowers

My notes are buried deep in the loft but from what I remember from researching after several cm is common. They can get very big!!

The gyne team immediately offered surgery; I didn’t need to push at all. The waitlist was quite long though so it took some time for my date to come around. If that’s going to be a struggle for you with health anxiety then there are a few things I’d suggest;
• Look up what your local area offers by way of therapy/counselling. A weekly check in can make the world of difference.
• Ask your gyne team if you can go on the cancellation list. This basically means they can call you at any time and offer last minute cancelled appointments. It’s rare that they come up but it does happen occasionally.
• Look into private healthcare. My gyne wouldn’t see me privately for the operation (I couldn’t have afforded it anyway though) so not sure if that’s an option, but could be worth asking.

Also at the appointment on the 6th explain how anxious you are ask them to be really clear on what all your options are or what the plan is. Take a friend or family member along with you to help you remember, or write things down. Ask how you can contact them if you think of any questions after your appointment (they’ll often give you their secretary’s contact info).

The gyne team I saw were absolutely fantastic. They’ll look after you. Do you have someone who will go with you to the appointment?

Sara08 · 21/02/2024 12:45

Well the gynae team I saw last week just referred me to a pelvic pain and endometriosis specialist.... I really hope he can refer me it's like I have to beg for a surgery..... I will take my husband with me or my sister x

I have private health care but it's classed as a pre existing condition iv only had my policy 7 weeks.. and I cannot afford to pay for a private surgery myself.... (i wish I bloody could)

I will tell them how bad I am and how I cannot take this no more

I had one during a round of ivf

It went down after the round was cancelled

Would the pill help perhaps?
