For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Okay, who has a microwave? We don't because I dislike them. Dd1 says we are just complete weirdos. I thought this thread was a safe-ish place to ask...

didindan · 18/03/2008 11:16

i have one but only use it to heat baked beans, boil frozen peas and heat milk for hot choc
So basically it is a waste of space in my kitchen, only have one because we always have.
I have several friends without

IdrisTheDragon · 18/03/2008 11:19

We don't have one - did, it died and then we found out we don't actually need one.

Boco · 18/03/2008 11:56

Got dd to school eventually, she limped stoically with a tear streaked face, and whispered 'good bye'. Feel a bit bad about losing my temper with everyone and a bit stupid for falling over. But apart from that, back on track.

Flaming felting today, I don't like going but feel obliged, - I think the teacher actually loathes us. She doesn't connect with me as a learner, that's for sure. Last week she raised her voice at us all and said 'will you all please CONCENTRATE on what i'm TRYING to SAY!. Poor her, it's us isn't it, we're not connecting with her as a tutor.

I have had a cream cake and a cheese pasty. I'm injured, i'm allowed.

Franny I will do good quotes with you when you get back. Dp just emailed me from work saying that Harold was also the accountant in the Life Aquatic, he was very excited by that.

Sorry

TooTicky · 18/03/2008 14:18

Oh dear Boco. I hope your day improves, felting or no felting.

FrayedKnot · 18/03/2008 14:21

Boco cake and pasty definitely allowed given the circs. Poor DD - and you. Wasp stings are nasty.

TooT we have a microwave. We didn;t have one, for ages, and I wasn;t planning on getting one, but then I smashed our hob and had to wait two months for the insurance to pay for a new one, and in teh interim we got one so we could cook things.

I don;t use it very much now, I have to say, but it makes a useful stand for the radio.

I changed my name when I got married because I preferred DH' name to my own

Most of my married friends have not changed names, but their DC have husband's surname.

ZippiBabes · 18/03/2008 14:25

poor dd and wasp sting

i have just got back from gardening

not daring to go out to spare hopuse to see what is being fucvked up doesnt fit isnt right never will be blahblah

i actua;l;y enjpoyed the gardening felt myself turning into felicity kendal and was in nether wallop midsomer murders type place with horses and neighbours and stuff walking past and it is called tyhe old framhopuse and suitable cotswold stone falling apart but

has palstic windows what a travbestyy

i didnt look at the time for two hours....and thwen thought my hand feels wet and looked and i had managed to acquirte a huge blister on the palm of m,y hand and it had burst and that is why my hand was wet

so then i realised it was actually hurtuing quite a lot

on the further plus side the postman was nice looking

ive never even seen mine and i go to the countryside and they come up the path and talk to you...like midsomer murders

i even wrote the people a note on a piece of torn diary paper and gave it to the cleaner to pass on...how fictional is that

ZippiBabes · 18/03/2008 14:26

filthymindedlurker · 18/03/2008 16:20

I'm not here and it isn't me....
I love you all and am missing you!

lured back on by news of MrsC.

Am sending you oodles of good vibes and hand squeezing. I am dithering now as I wanted t send you a card as a thank you for the trainers (This thread should be renamed shoe-swappers annonymous or something) but you might think I was trying to offer you unwanted sympathy. So I'll offer that here instead x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x
and say that anything i may or may not send you will be in gratitude, not sympathy. OK?

FrannyandZooey · 18/03/2008 16:31

we don't have a microwave because I think they are Evil and Fry Parts of You With Filthy Radiation

plus I think it biologically alters the structure of food (because it tastes fucking crap afterwards) so I don't really want to eat it

most people do think this is odd, yes; however I have a friend who won't eat microwave food, ever. Like, she will ask in a restaurant and not eat the food if it is microwaved. Which is quite hardcore.

Boco I want to talk about the actor that plays Harold. I have a theory he is actually not that great but just had the perfect rather blank and naive expression and some very good direction and two absolutely storming lead females to play against. I love him to bits - he's so beautiful and perfect in this - but wouldn't be surprised if he can hardly act a bean. He never had another successful role that I know of.

OP posts:
Boco · 18/03/2008 16:38

He seemed like a good actor, I quite fell in love with him when he got all teary and said 'I like you Maud' and then told her all about why he liked being dead and cried

I liked the bit where the appalled Vicar is saying very slowly and with smarting eyes, that the thought of Harolds young flesh, mingling with the wrinkly breasts and saggy buttocks of Maud made him want to vomit'

And I loved it when the mother found Harold and his final date both lying on the floor after the knife thing and she says 'Harold! That was your last date!'

I am seizing up! After falling over today, like an old lady, one side is starting to not work properly, my hip, back and arm and thumb are all aching really badly. Gah!

RosemaryBoxer · 18/03/2008 16:42

hi briefly fmv are u enjoying yoiur break

FrannyandZooey · 18/03/2008 16:46

well perhaps I am totally wrong
but I have watched it 3 million times and each time I adore him more but I do have this suspicion that all his brilliance in this part is as I say just extremely good direction
eg the bit where he turns to camera slowly with the wicked grin and then wipes it off his face when his mother catches him
but yes he is divine
the bubble blowing

FrannyandZooey · 18/03/2008 16:47

can you have a good long bath either now or in a bit Boco? ds will sometimes play in the bathroom while I have a bath, or just sit on the floor trailing his hands in the water saying "I wish I could get in"

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 18/03/2008 16:48

who wants the film next? You have to swear in advance to like it. Shall we send it to Bee and she can send your one to someone else Boco?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 18/03/2008 16:49

oh and the bit about him being dead is a case in point actually
is that not the bit where he hangs his head in his hands suddenly (to convey weeping) but it doesn't in fact look like he is weeping at all?
oh dear it sounds like I am picking it apart, I love love love it
have just watched it too often and want someone to pick it over with

Hello.

Boco you poor thing, you sound a bit beaten up. I second the suggestion of a bath, possibly with a glass of wine later and a book for a proper good old fashioned soak (ah god I can distantly remmeber doing that).

What film are you on about Franny and Boco?

I mananged about 7 or so yesterday and went running so not awful but today I thought I MUST TRY HARDER so have had fruit salad for brekkie covering about 4/5 and huge veg filled pittas for lunch so reckon I'm already up for about 8 and was planning ratatouille for tonight - though I might just abandon that and go for something quicker!
(possibly microwaved )
