There seem to be quite a few of us now so I thought we might like a place where we can congregate to laugh, cry, share, compare notes and give each other a bit of support.

Huffpuff - I would be on the phone too - it is not acceptable to feel like this. The nurse needs to be told and your dosage needs to be checked.

huffpuff · 05/08/2008 10:25

just been on the phone to oncology and apparently there is only one nurse in the entire building who can help but it is her day off today - getting mad now so will phone back in a bit.

TheMadHouse · 06/08/2008 11:51

Any luck Huffpuff

anorak · 06/08/2008 14:23

Hello all, just got back from England. Sorry to read that some of you have been through the mill while I was away.

I've been feeling better and better, and I have proper hair again now, albeit very short which is not my preferred style, but still it looks like normal hair

Have put on a bit of weight though, and now have to concentrate on losing some (oncologist's orders) and cut right down on the wine too.

Anorak - did you have a good time?

huffpuff · 06/08/2008 21:12

hope you are all ok

huffpuff · 08/08/2008 19:32

where is everyone!? XX

BlaDeBla · 11/08/2008 09:40

I've just got back from London - my boob is clear! Hooray! I have an operation booked for Sept, either to take out the port of my implant, or to replace the implant with a new and hopefully less lumpy one. I don't know yet which to do. It's not very nice having a great big lump of plastic to replace the lump of cancer. I don't fancy another operation much though! I hope everyone is doing alright. Are you ok, huffpuff?

huffpuff · 11/08/2008 14:03

great news Blaa!! Glad all ok.

TheMadHouse · 11/08/2008 14:07

Glad your boob is OK.

My Aunty had her implants done on Friday and is doing fine, although she is sore

anorak · 14/08/2008 00:10

I had a great time thanks TMH. Rushed around all over the place seeing friends and relatives. I was worried I would have that awful tiredness you get when you're on chemo and your whole body aches, but I didn't get it. I feel much much better. I'm seeing my surgeon on Friday for a referral for my reconstruction, I'll be going to the States for it.

Glad you're okay Bla, hope you can be made more comfortable.

How are things huffpuff, I posted on your thread the other day, hope you're feeling better.

hi all - thanks for your reply anorak - i was having a bit of a bad day that day and needed to rant! Things just seem so desperately bad sometimes....

I have anaemia, chest infection and my white count is low. Round 5 is due a week on Tuesday. Time seems to be standing still atm.

Got a wedding on Saturday which i am looking forward to but feel a bit self conscious with wearing a scarf with a long dress.

Hope you are all ok XX

anorak · 16/08/2008 16:50

Can I please link to my thread here?

I am asking for advice from anyone who has had a breast reconstruction. Thanks

lalaa · 19/08/2008 18:07

Hello all
Just checking in. How is everyone?

BlaDeBla · 19/08/2008 18:33

How did you get on at the wedding, huffpuff? I hope you are feeling a bit better. Horrid when time stands still. It's such a weird feeling. How are YOU, lalaa? There are lots of helpful links about reconstruction from the websites I linked in your other thread, anorak.

I'm still wondering whether or not to bother about having a lumpy implant because my boobs aren't big enough

TheMadHouse · 20/08/2008 14:33

Has anyone heard from Pigleto lately?

huffpuff · 21/08/2008 21:18

hi all - wedding was good and we all had a lovely time.

Had blood tests today to make sure all ok for 5th chemo session next week. Nurse rang to say that i can have chemo still but i will need a blood transfusion next week to as anaemic. Need 2 units. 4-6 hours. So tired and lethargic - now i know why!

hope all of you are ok XX

Tinkywinks · 21/08/2008 22:48

Hello there, please could I link to my thread here? I'm trying to decide whether to have breast surgery. Would be grateful for your input xx

Tinkywinks · 21/08/2008 22:50

Whoops, I mean here!

anorak · 21/08/2008 22:52

Hello all. Sorry you're so anaemic huffpuff. It's wretched, isn't it?

Thanks for your suggestions Bla. I am still thinking about it, but your links were very helpful.

No, I haven't heard from pigleto. Or beep. I hope they are ok.

OP posts:
pigleto · 22/08/2008 14:42

Hello all, nice to be missed

I am feeling quite good atm considering. I keep going off on one mentally which is tiresome. If I manage to get through this then I am fretting about nothing and if I don't then I really don't want to be wasting my time howling and wallowing in self pity.

I have another treatment next Friday and then it is only one more to go. I bloody hate the taxotere, I would much rather have the EC again. It makes me ache all over and I have to spend a week in bed off my head on tramadol. Startlingly I still have most of my hair, which is good (thank you cold cap) although I have no eyelashes or eyebrows which makes me look jolly peculiar.

Sorry to hear that you are anaemic HP, hope they manage to sort you out.

I really miss having a cleavage. It makes it hard to choose clothes. I have some really odd looking photos from my hols where I have one boob with a nipple (northumberland v cold) and my prosthesis side is all smooth and fake looking. They need to invent a prosthesis with a temperature activated robot nipple .

huffpuff · 22/08/2008 20:29

hi all - now i have an ear infection............ i am done with all this chemo business now - i want to be normal!!!!

BlaDeBla · 22/08/2008 22:26

Wellcome to Tinkywinks! Great to hear from you Pigleto. I hope you feel a bit better soon. I don't have a nipple either - if you have reconstustruction, I know who can make it for you! (sorry that's just the nipple)

anorak · 29/08/2008 17:05

I know what you mean pigleto. 9/10 of my tops and dresses are no good to me at the moment because they are all too low in the front. So I have to wear the same things all the time. But my trip to the US for a reconstruction is being arranged at the moment.

How is everyone at the moment?

OP posts:
BlaDeBla · 29/08/2008 17:05

It's all gone a bit quiet here...

I've got another appointment to get the port taken out of my implant next week. At the moment I think I have a horrid little bug and I can barely get out of bed. Hopefully it's not the colitis again. Anyway, I feel dreadful.

I don't know if the colitis was caused by the amount of antibiotics after the operation. It is a possibility and it would affect my decision to have a general anaesthetic for something which is more-or-less cosmetic. I've been so bloody knackered to bother trying to phone the gastro people to ask them.

How's everyone else getting on? How are your ears, huffpuff?
