There seem to be quite a few of us now so I thought we might like a place where we can congregate to laugh, cry, share, compare notes and give each other a bit of support.

Also when saomething triggers that 'shut down' sort of panic/stress, do you find that after maybe a few days, you start to filter it a bit - I mean it sounds crazy but I find I start to be able to deal with it slightly better after a while, and resign myself into it - so I can find the motivation to do 'normal' stuff again, think positively again for a bit until the next blow as it were. like 'well i can't do anything about this crap but I can still enjoy what I have' sort of thing. I find that hits once in a while and is good. But usually short lived..

pigleto - i've been doing the zoladex thing for 2.5 years now. I find that some months hurts more than others and occasionally it doesn't hurt at all. If you are finding it difficult you could ask for a local anaesthetic beforehand. My doctor routinely asks me if I want it, but I always say no - I just want to get it done as fast as possible and out of there. On the plus side, it is rather comforting to see your GP once a month because you can ask him/her about anything that might be niggling but you wouldn't normally make an appointment to talk about. And that can be something physically wrong, or if you're just finding the whole thing a bit overwhelming.

nrc, sorry to hear you're finding it all a bit much. all i can say from 3 years down the road is that it does get less stressful. It just takes time. I don't think anyone who hasn't had direct experience of going through a life-threatening illness has a clue what the emotional impact is and the legacy.

I'm looking forward to an autumnal Sat night watching Strictly with my dd. We've had a proper family day today (first time for ages) and I'm enjoying that.

Hope you both feel better soon.

Pigleto, I am sorry that you are having such a wretched time. Big big hugs to you. I so hope you have something optimistic to carry you through soon.

Sorry to hear you are having a hard time Pigleto.

pigleto · 05/10/2008 11:30

Thanks Lalaa, You mean you have done the zoladex thing 30 odd times? Hats off to you. We both deserve a "brave girl" sticker.

NRC I don't know your story but I wish you well. Thank you for your support, you sound as though you know more than your own share of worry.

Thingone I don't think anyone on this thread is having an easy time. I'm slightly ashamed of being the biggest whinger on here . Thanks for the sympathy.

bladebla thanks for the hug.
