For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I think we'll make playdough and cake this afternoon. We had a lovely morning at the Museum of Natural History but we're both worn out and in need of a nap. I always feel really lazy if I nap during the day. Somehow sitting down and MNing seems far more productive

Vanilla Risotto sounds delicious, Lully. Is it like a fancy rice pudding?

FrannyandZooey · 10/03/2008 18:56

I have asked dp if I can have this for easter [spoilt] [happy]

FrannyandZooey · 10/03/2008 18:57

playdough is so nice to make if you are feeling weary in your soul
kneading it while it is hot is very comforting

Tatties · 10/03/2008 19:04

Found you, hello!

I am sorry for being absent; both ds and dp have been a bit emotionally demanding over the last week or so and I just haven't had the heart to come and chat tbh. I have found that MN sometimes makes me more anxious than usual so if I am feeling sensitive it is easier not to come on at all. I am ok though How is everyone?

Tatties · 10/03/2008 19:05

look at that egg!

anorak · 10/03/2008 19:16

Lullabyloo, I have had another look and they do deliver to Bermuda, I might order some of that honey. The great thing about that sort of thing is that it can't possibly be a bad idea to take it, no drawbacks, it's bound to be healthful even if I can't really measure the effects. The only thing that worries me about all these things I am taking is that they might actually make any cancer cells I have healthier too! In which case I am undoing all the work of the chemo.

littlerach · 10/03/2008 19:24

That is on hueg egg.
Blimey.

Tatties, agree re MN and increasign anxiety. Sometimes best not to go there!

Have eaten lots.
Ansd some F&V
Actuially, not bad today. Veg curry, with aubergine, peppers, corns amnd mange tout, also spinach. funny mix, but all needed eating.
pear.
grapes.
tomatoes.
Dried apricots.
Humous.

UnderRated · 10/03/2008 19:29

Yes, MN can be bad when one is feeling a little sensitive.

I hadn't thought of that, Anorak

That Egg is amazing.

Playdough made, cake in oven [smug]

FrannyandZooey · 10/03/2008 19:30

I am the same shape as that egg

Tatties have been thinking about you. Sorry times have been draining. Is there anything we can do?

pinkspottywellies · 10/03/2008 20:05

Yay, you used my title! Was no-one else feeling imaginative this week?

Thanks Avi (about the Boden thing). That natural look took a lot of planning and primping! I do worry so about these things I think you're right though.

I made a lovely salad today with bulgar wheat, feta cheese, parsley and pomegranite. I had my ante-natal group for lunch and we always bring a dish each and it's always lovely!

I had a very house-workey day too so I feel all clean and fresh and virtuous! I'm not going running tonight because the weather's too miserable so I'm going to do a yoga dvd. (Send me if I'm still here in 10 mins!)

FrayedKnot · 10/03/2008 20:07

That's some egg

Oh to be pregnant and not responsible for my waistline

Tatties sorry to hear life has been trying

I don;t get anxious on 10/10, because everyone is luvverly, but sometimes the wider world of MN is too much

FrannyandZooey · 10/03/2008 20:09

I ate stew with mushrooms, leeks, carrots, swede, cauli, kidney beans, tomatoes, black eyed beans and corn in

plus herby dumplings

am eating some chocolate Avi brought me. Very good.

FrannyandZooey · 10/03/2008 20:12

no-one on here is in the medical profession are they? am assembling fancy play medical kit for ds and have begged some surgical masks from kind woman in chat

can anyone help me think what else would be good? on eBay have spotted real stethoscope, real thermometer (digital), doctor's scrubs dressing up clothes (child size)

short of a real scalpel (he wants to be a surgeon) I am running out of ideas. Do they do child size gloves?

pinkspottywellies · 10/03/2008 20:18

Good God Franny at the egg!!!!

On the subject of 'chop it and chuck it in' style cooking there was a cottage cheese thread the other day and aitch posted instructions for a canelloni dish, then someone asked if she could post the recipe. I think they wanted it more specific than 'bung in a handful of spinach' but I thought it was the recipe!

I'm looking forward to playdough when dd is old enough!

FrannyandZooey · 10/03/2008 20:24

I feel slightly ashamed of the egg now
sorry for greed

FrannyandZooey · 10/03/2008 20:25

ok VERY ashamed

FrannyandZooey · 10/03/2008 20:25

it is ethical
[snivel]

stiffit · 10/03/2008 20:31

golly you really do chuck it all in don't you

what an amazing stew and littlerach your curry!
feel ashamed but aspirational
(have totally missed the egg thing)

FrannyandZooey · 10/03/2008 20:36

my post of 18.56 stiffit (which I may get deleted in my shame ) don't know why I felt the need to brag about my egg on a healthy eating thread
(except I know most of us like the fruit of the cocoa tree)

yes just chop it and chuck it
lovely
you see now why my fortnightly veg delivery is enough - that made four meals worth

UnderRated · 10/03/2008 20:44

Yes, you can get child-sized (or small) gloves. I can get a mask for you if you need another. How about some shoe covers? and one of those hats they were in the OR?

I need some dressing up kits. For DS, you understand.

BBBee · 10/03/2008 20:46

a fine choice franny - will show dp in an idle "look what franny's dp is getting her..." way. (PMT still rife..)

FrannyandZooey · 10/03/2008 20:47

oh have just found mini scrubs outfit with hat and it has pocket at the front which he will LOVE (pockets feature highly in his psyche atm)
I will look for gloves, thank you

I found ebay very good for dressing up stuff - we have extensive dressing up collection for ds, as you say

stiffit · 10/03/2008 20:49

am cross-eyed after checking the egg!

maybe a cook-in is a bad idea.. ratatouille all over the keyboard..

we had lots of surgical masks for sars but all used and revolting from too many years in the dressing up box sorry

FrannyandZooey · 10/03/2008 20:50

LOL I searched on eBay for 'disposable gloves child' and it came back with

no matches found
19 items found for disposable child
43 items found for gloves child
386 items found for disposable gloves
2,500 items found for disposable

LOLOL

what would I search for do you think UR? would they just be the smallest size? he has quite little hands, I wouldn't think small adults' ones would quite do

FrannyandZooey · 10/03/2008 20:51

am sorted for masks, kind chat lady is sending
help me track down gloves pls
