For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

TooTicky · 14/03/2008 18:09

Zippi Good to see you.

Oh Lully, that's rotten. Ds is very very lucky to have you though, and the good times are what he will remember most about his childhood.

Have baked with delightful children and survived school bring and buy sale - marginally more bringing than buying. Dcs got some good bargains though.
Oh, and The Girl who caused problems for dd1 SPOKE to her today and was actually civil Dd1 is tentatively considering going back to school. I feel and about the influence this girl has/has had on dd1.

Ratatouille and sweetcorn for lunch. Am making baked chips, roast parsnip and something cauliflower related for dinner.

I will not tell you what is on the keyboard. It appears to be dead.

Gosh Lully, what a complicated situation I hope the Words with your DH helped - I think you were quite right.

Nice to see you back, Zippi.

What on Earth is on your keyboard, Toot?

UnderRated · 14/03/2008 19:57

How much are hemp seeds in the uk? I looked for them today and found them in the vitamin aisle but they were $22 for about 200g. Are they really that expensive? I may just have to stick with flax.

I found raw chocolate today but wasn't brave enough to try it.

UnderRated · 14/03/2008 20:12

DS just did a poo on my pillow

FrannyandZooey · 14/03/2008 20:42

god the raw chocolate Lully sent me was unbelievably good

sorry to hear about the poo

FrayedKnot · 14/03/2008 20:51

Evening all

Zippi your buttons are done up just right! What have you been up to during your break?

LL sorry to hear it wasn;t very good news at the hospital, and about DH Hope he makes amends tomorrow so you can have a rest.

I've iced the cake! Woohoo!

I've wrapped the pass the parcel! Woohoo!

Bouncy castle man doesn;t want to come because it might rain! No woohoo

So, ideas for a completely indoor party with 6 four year olds please!

FrannyandZooey · 14/03/2008 20:54

oh god what a cad the bouncy castle man is! would rain damage the rubber or something?

erm 6 four year olds
hmmm
I will think

FrannyandZooey · 14/03/2008 20:58

all my best games involve props
am thinking

FrayedKnot · 14/03/2008 20:59

He is worried about how he will dry it out at this time of year if it gets wet

That's his problem imho

I have some games planned already, but need a couple of other ideas I think, as it really might be pouring

They can of course still play outside for a bit if it's not raining

FrannyandZooey · 14/03/2008 21:04

I have done quite a good game of 'challenges' where you write lots of different things down on slips of paper and put them in a bag. Eg stand on one leg for 10 seconds. Pretend to be a cat. Find something in the room made of metal etc (adjust challenges for ability of group). Each child takes turns to draw a challenge out of the bag and try to complete it. if they can't do it / don't want to try they just take another. Get them to do one for each year of age, then they get a small prize.

dancing seems to go down well always. Play musical statues or bumps (don't make anybody be out although you can award prizes for best effort if you like games with prizes).

FrannyandZooey · 14/03/2008 21:05

oh a friend did a fab feely bag game. Put a funny shaped object into a bag and get child to put hand in and (without looking) try to guess. Eg hairbrush, banana, pinecone, fork, whatever

pin the on the __ usually fun

FrayedKnot · 14/03/2008 21:30

Franny thank you! The bag game would be easy to sling together at teh last minute, and the challenges one too.

Bouncy castle man is ringing at 8am tomorrow to see what we are going to do

BTW I haven;t forgotten about the Dr's kit but have been really bust at work...do you still need stuff?

FrannyandZooey · 14/03/2008 21:40

oh the kind MNer send gloves, hats and masks
I have bought real stethoscope
thermometer
very cute scrubs dressing up outfit

am going to get bandages / plasters / empty pill bottles and try to put in first aid type box

I think the gloves are going to be too big, so if anyone can get small / mini size?
thank you for remembering FK
I don't suppose a prescription pad is something we can get hold of legally is it?

FrannyandZooey · 14/03/2008 21:41

sent not send

FrayedKnot · 14/03/2008 21:53

busy not bust!

UnderRated · 14/03/2008 22:42

FK, hope party goes well tomorrow and that the bouncy castle man comes. If not, the usual party games always go down well - musical puddles/ chairs/ whatever, Simon Says, that game where you roll dice and eat chocolate with a knife and fork until someone else rolls a six. You could do apple bobbing type of thing with them on strings hanging from a line, if you are inclined.

Franny, your DR kit sounds fab. I bet you can order a prescription pad of sorts online. I forgot you were doing this a threw out a couple of pill containers but can easily collect more if you want some.

TooTicky · 14/03/2008 22:43

Hello UR, how are you?

Sleeping lions is good for a quiet game too. What about chinese whispers? I used to hate it but some kids like it.
