ZOE NUTRITION NEW THREAD- anyone want to join in?

I've started a new thread as my previous one was titled for techie stuff.
If anyone is fairly new to this please join in and we can share!

I am now on Day 4. All tests done and now recording my food each day. It takes me ages as my phone is slow (needs replacing) and some things I eat aren't listed (it relies a lot on packaged foods.)

eg yesterday I made a veggie curry and the only options were branded readymade ones so I just had to pick one I felt was close enough, rather than itemise every veggie in the one I made.

I noticed this as some 'negative' feedback on another platform.

Has everyone/anyone done the advanced health questionnaire? I started it but gave up. I felt it was more for their data gathering (which is fine to an extent) but also very intrusive and I didn't want to give my personal medical history when it may not be 100% safe from hackers.

I'm going to feedback on this to them.

My blood sugar readings so far are in the 4 - 5.4 range mainly although on a couple of mornings it was below 4. The highest was 7.3 after a sweet dessert ( a one-off for me - out with friends) plus ice cream.

Any tips from more experienced users welcome!

@100Bees , it's genetics unfortunately. Zoe will show you how to eat to help your bad BF but it won't change your score. You can search this on the many unofficial Zoe Facebook pages.

100Bees · 24/11/2023 08:34

Thanks @tennissquare I guess it's good to know. My gran had a series of strokes and my mum has high cholesterol despite being very healthy so it shouldn't come as a surprise!

tennissquare · 24/11/2023 11:26

@100Bees , some people have found that they have lived with a partner for decades and eaten the same food and have exposure to the same microbes but when they test have different scores and different microbes in their gut so genetics must play a big part in it all.

This is exactly the same result as me! I was really surprised when I got my results. I did message them at Zoe to dig a bit deeper. They said that my dad’s heart disease (even though he was in his 80s), Would have had a slight impact on my result, but mostly it was from the muffin test. They said that I should still eat fats but just make sure they are healthy ones.

100Bees · 25/11/2023 08:27

I think this might be a silly question, but on the app it's now showing me searchable lists of foods with scores next to them. Are the scores personal to me? So it's not the same score for everyone?

tennissquare · 25/11/2023 10:00

@100Bees , yes those are your scores so if you scan a loaf of bread it will have a different score for most people using Zoe. I would really suggest joining the Zoe unofficial chat U.K. Facebook group plus via Facebook you can join a recipe group call Love Food Eat Healthy. There are loads more groups and people ask questions all the time because at times it's quite a difficult programme to follow.

Hi, I’m just about to start the Zoe programme (in the next few weeks) and out of interest has anyone been told to eat less fat, more carbs? Reading tons of backposts on MN and it seems like everyone has been advised to go low carb.

If you have great sugar control then you can eat far more carbs than someone with bad sugar control. If you, like me, have good sugar control and bad fat control then you will be seriously cutting down on saturated fats like cheese, and moderating the carbs - making sure that I eat only high quality, whole grain, carb for example. I've swapped into using different carbs, just made a cake using coconut flour and almond flour rather than wheat flour.

I eat plenty of carbs, and fats, but now eat different carbs and fats to the ones I used to eat - eg used olive oil in the cake, not butter.

It's worked brilliantly for me - I'm a year in and am planning on sticking with it. Lost weight, feeling great, loving the food.

Thanks so much, it’s great to hear you’re having success with it. I am hopeful now :)
