ZOE NUTRITION NEW THREAD- anyone want to join in?

LisaLovedUp · 20/11/2022 08:37

I've started a new thread as my previous one was titled for techie stuff.
If anyone is fairly new to this please join in and we can share!

I am now on Day 4. All tests done and now recording my food each day. It takes me ages as my phone is slow (needs replacing) and some things I eat aren't listed (it relies a lot on packaged foods.)

eg yesterday I made a veggie curry and the only options were branded readymade ones so I just had to pick one I felt was close enough, rather than itemise every veggie in the one I made.

I noticed this as some 'negative' feedback on another platform.

Has everyone/anyone done the advanced health questionnaire? I started it but gave up. I felt it was more for their data gathering (which is fine to an extent) but also very intrusive and I didn't want to give my personal medical history when it may not be 100% safe from hackers.

I'm going to feedback on this to them.

My blood sugar readings so far are in the 4 - 5.4 range mainly although on a couple of mornings it was below 4. The highest was 7.3 after a sweet dessert ( a one-off for me - out with friends) plus ice cream.

Any tips from more experienced users welcome!

Thanks @LisaLovedUp, you'd have thought with all that fancy packaging in the box, they could have included a simple overview of the first couple of weeks. It took me ages to work out that the fat and carb challenges were week 2. Hope I don't miss anything 🤣

TheOnlyKoiInAPondOfGoldfish · 26/11/2022 14:11

Well the food logging bit sounds worrying if they don't allow for homemade - I don't eat packaged stuff on the whole. Can't you log real food?

neonmeadow · 26/11/2022 14:13

@TheOnlyKoiInAPondOfGoldfish you can log homemade stuff, you just need to add each individual ingredient. You can save common meals to to avoid having to start from scratch each time.

neonmeadow · 26/11/2022 14:16

I just got my results back - good blood sugar control, good blood fat control, decent gut! Which is good obviously but I was hoping for some explanation of why I put on 2
stone last year despite not eating more than I had been and exercising loads 😩. I guess it’s just part of getting older!

eveoha · 26/11/2022 14:58

pancreas testing may be better option 👍🏿☘️

TheOnlyKoiInAPondOfGoldfish · 26/11/2022 15:29

Thanks @neonmeadow - I suppose I'll just have to have a couple of weeks where I don't just throw what's in the fridge into a stew!

neonmeadow · 26/11/2022 15:32

Thanks @eveoha good idea.

neonmeadow · 26/11/2022 15:35

@TheOnlyKoiInAPondOfGoldfish if it’s mainly veg you don’t need to be massively precise with those bits if they score well for you (veg has scored well with everyone I’ve spoken to so far but not sure if that’s true for everyone!) I’d just be a bit more careful with meat weights, condiments and grains etc as they can have a big impact on the score

Norachance · 26/11/2022 15:50

I'm starting on Dec 20. Wish it was sooner but I imagine Christmas will be full of temptations so good for testing?

Wazzzzzuuuuuuup · 26/11/2022 17:42

Is it likely that my glucose measurements are not yet correct, on day 1 as the Libre needs to 'calibrate' overnight? My glucose hasn't been over 5 even after eating white toast. This afternoon I've dropped to 3.4 (4h after last meal but I've had a couple of Brazil nuts and a sliver of tiger bread in the last hour).

TheOnlyKoiInAPondOfGoldfish · 26/11/2022 17:56

mine didn't seem to change overnight, despite that message @Wazzzzzuuuuuuup - but my peaks are much higher than yours - up to 7 after the muffins and I dip below the bar a few times too. my averages are in the 4-5 range during the day.

ooh condiments, I do love a nice bit of indian pickle. So many variables - how on earth can we get a thorough analysis in 2 weeks?

neonmeadow · 26/11/2022 19:10

@Wazzzzzuuuuuuup i don’t think mine was accurate on day 1 as I got huge dips after exercise but never had a dip that big again over the 2 weeks.

I could be wrong but I think a lot of the analysis is done with the muffins, I’m not sure how much stock is put into all the testing you do yourself, I think that’s more just for you to explore. That’s the impression I got anyway!

Coralinel · 26/11/2022 23:58

Having been on the waitlist for month, I’ve just successfully followed a referral code on a previous thread so am posting a referral code for the Zoe home testing and app https://joinzoe.mention-me.com/m/ol/wq9rl-822d1405d6 for anyone that wants one.

looking forward to receiving my kit soon and great to read all your experiences.

LulooLemon · 27/11/2022 00:03

I would LOVE to do this and have just received my 'invitation to apply'. It just seems really expensive, so I'm in two minds.

It's a long shot, but does anyone have a discount code or similar please?! 😃

It does say it resets itself overnight.
The only other possible issue is that it's not placed correctly on your arm.

That's something I want to feed back to them- the photos on their paperwork show it on the side of the arm, but the actual instructions and other diagrams show it more to the underside of the arm.

You could test it by eating something very sweet and seeing it it measures that.

The current price is discounted already by around 50% compared to when it launches publicly, later. We are actually little guinea pigs while they iron out any blips.

I think it's good value for this type of thing.

The blood glucose kit is £50 a month anyway to buy (nothing to do with Zoe) and a gut health kit is around £180 (what I've seen online), and then you are getting feedback on your scores.

@TheOnlyKoiInAPondOfGoldfish As PP says, they learn a lot from your poo sample and blood tests (based on the muffin test.) The muffin test is to test your response to fat and sugar (muffins have different amounts.)

The other tests you do are 3 days of food logging (which they will see at their end) linked to the BGM, and the rest is for your own benefit, to test foods and see how you respond.

On my first batch of muffins. I'm wondering if I've accidentally got mixed up and started chewing my memory foam mattress??!

SallySailor · 27/11/2022 08:28

#Wazzzzzuuuuuuup, thanks for sharing! I'm now really looking forward to my breakfast tomorrow 😂

SallySailor · 27/11/2022 08:31

@LulooLemon, they give you a discount code at the end of the Zoe pod casts

Wazzzzzuuuuuuup · 27/11/2022 08:33

@sallysailor Make a hot drink to go with it, and take small bites. My first mistake was taking a massive mouthful that I couldn't get down!

LucyLatimer · 27/11/2022 08:38

I’m so interested to do this, lost some weight on my own and run out of steam, but want to continue. looking forward to see how you all find it.

Is there even such a test @eveoha ?

If the pancreas isn't working, then glucose levels are high. (Which is what happens in diabetes.)

The blood sugar monitoring is in fact monitoring the pancreas.
