ZOE NUTRITION NEW THREAD- anyone want to join in?

LisaLovedUp · 20/11/2022 08:37

I've started a new thread as my previous one was titled for techie stuff.
If anyone is fairly new to this please join in and we can share!

I am now on Day 4. All tests done and now recording my food each day. It takes me ages as my phone is slow (needs replacing) and some things I eat aren't listed (it relies a lot on packaged foods.)

eg yesterday I made a veggie curry and the only options were branded readymade ones so I just had to pick one I felt was close enough, rather than itemise every veggie in the one I made.

I noticed this as some 'negative' feedback on another platform.

Has everyone/anyone done the advanced health questionnaire? I started it but gave up. I felt it was more for their data gathering (which is fine to an extent) but also very intrusive and I didn't want to give my personal medical history when it may not be 100% safe from hackers.

I'm going to feedback on this to them.

My blood sugar readings so far are in the 4 - 5.4 range mainly although on a couple of mornings it was below 4. The highest was 7.3 after a sweet dessert ( a one-off for me - out with friends) plus ice cream.

Any tips from more experienced users welcome!

If you go in the Facebook group UK Zoe nutrition chat (unofficial) there will be other people starting today too.

Ooh thanks, will do.

I had a chat with them today about the blood and they say it looks ok which is good. I’d posted it yesterday in case.

Does anyone have a referral link for Zoe?

DollyParsons · 18/08/2023 10:28

👋I'm happy to have found you. I've just started the Zoe programme and today is Day 1 testing.

Struggled with the breakfast muffins. I managed 2.5 and then thought I was going to be sick. Thought it best to stop at that point!

Did anyone else not manage to eat all 3, but still get detailed results?

Not looking forward to the lunch batch.

tennissquare · 18/08/2023 12:40

@Vic09 , there is a discount code at the end of each Zoe podcast.

tennissquare · 18/08/2023 12:45

@DollyParsons , yes it's fine to not eat all 3 as long as you record it on the app. The muffins can make some people really ill. It won't effect your results. Good luck with the lunch muffins and the blood test which I found awful. I ended up doing the muffin / blood test day 3 times due to errors by me! Zoe are quite use to re-sending test kits.
I know I keep writing this but the Facebook group is really good and informative.

DollyParsons · 18/08/2023 20:48

Thanks @tennissquare
Lunch muffins weren't great either (managed one and a half) but blood test wasn't too bad. Other than the post muffin spikes, I'm not seeing much movement on the readings despite having a few snacks and dinner.
Will check out the FB group - thanks for the tip.

Thanks Mat much appreciated signed up to start in October!

MrJellyBelly · 19/08/2023 12:35

That’s great @Vic09 - good luck with it, I’m a big fan and it’s changed how I eat permanently, hope it works for you.

HampshireNoo · 23/08/2023 18:02

I've just signed up and have 3 referral codes if anyone is interested.

MrJellyBelly · 23/08/2023 23:35

Hi all, I’d be interested to know how much you are all paying for Zoe. I love it but have been a member for 18mths and suspect that they have sharpened their pencil on the monthly fee. It was around £400 per for my initial 4 months, then £300 for a further 12 mths.

hopefully it’s a little cheaper now.

Still just under £300 for the 12 months - but it's been a total game changer for me and I will renew, after initially thinking I wouldn't.

It's changed my relationship with food - I'm eating until I'm full, lovely tasting food, no more boring "healthy" meals, I'm relaxed about eating out occasionally, slimmer than I was even before children, 70 is my next big birthday and I feel 20yrs younger!

Moongerbil · 12/09/2023 22:14

Hello,
I’m in my last month of Zoe after a 4mth plan. I’ve loved it. My diet was quite good anyway, but now it’s super amazing and I’m feeling great on it.
If anybody is interested in trying it, then I still have my three referral codes for 10% off 😍😍😍

Dollydumpling69 · 25/09/2023 09:53

Hi Everyone,
It should have been my start day today, but I forgot to attach my glucose monitor last night, so currently on track for breakfast at 3pm!
Obviously I won't fit in doing it all now, so wondering if I can change my start day to tomorrow (will be at work unfortunately though), or just try today?
I'm so annoyed with myself!

SallySailor · 27/09/2023 10:10

Yes you should be able to change your start day in the app

Tilpot · 12/10/2023 14:26

Yeah, I had a major panic about the needle. Tears, the lot. Total waste of time though, didn’t hurt in the slightest!! Felt like such a fool 😂🤗

100Bees · 13/10/2023 19:09

Hello, I've got my test kit but I'm going on holiday for a week from 28th. I'm assuming I shouldn't start before as I'd be in the middle of the testing period but not eating my usual diet. Does that sound sensible? I'm planning on waiting until 5 November to start. Do the muffins last that long? Should I freeze them? Thanks!

ioyo · 29/10/2023 11:17

I’m thinking of signing up to this but worried about how much time I’d have to spend planning and focusing on it. I have small kids and am in a bit of a phase of self neglect so was hoping this might be a good way of looking after myself. Would anyone doing it be able to tell me if you find it tricky to juggle with the rest of your life demands? Thanks

tennissquare · 29/10/2023 12:22

@ioyo , the testing week involves the first day at home eating the cookies and carrying out the tests, then 3 days of logging everything you eat whilst watching the cgm you are wearing. There are then optional challenges and you keep logging until the cgm stops working on day 14. You then get your test results and work thru daily lessons on the app and work your way up to getting a score of 75 each day from the foods you log.
Do you cook from scratch, do you like eating beans, veg, nuts and not much meat, do you have to cook for your family anyway or can you easily plan your own meals?
If you aren't sure whether to join quick hacks are reading the glucose goddess's books, following her on insta, following Tim Spector / Zoe on social media, listening to the 2 x Diary of a CEO Interviews with Tim spector, following the many unofficial Zoe facebooks groups.
I did Zoe for 4 months and now follow all of the above but I eat different food to my family etc and it works for me but it's not about weight loss.

ioyo · 29/10/2023 17:30

Oh wow, thanks for this! Yes this sounds way more than I could cope with currently but I really appreciate your suggestions - podcasts I can manage! I will build up to it with all your info in mind - thank you so much!

tennissquare · 29/10/2023 21:19

The glucose goddess js also on Diary of a CEO, Search for Jessie Inchauspe. If you follow the hacks she mentions it's a good start and if you can "flatten your sugar curves" then you stop feeling so hungry and stop snacking.

Just dropping in to agree with all that has been said above - and that it's been a game changer for me. I've tried every diet going over the last 50+yrs, this is the first time EVER that I have been totally relaxed about food.

My diet has changed dramatically over the past 10months, I've lost weight, now the weight I was in my early 20's, feeling fabulous. While I eat mainly plant based diet at home, lots of beans, pulses, nuts, seeds, veggies, I am confident enough to be able to go out and make sensible choices, eat whatever is put in front of me at someone's home, and not stress about occasional deviations from my new normal.

It's not for everyone, but for me it's been marvellous.

100Bees · 24/11/2023 07:47

Hello! I got my results in. Blood sugar control good, gut health excellent but blood fat control is poor.

I've been googling but can't work out what would make it poor. Is it eating too much bad fat or something else?

FWIW I'm pretty slim with a healthy BMI but to the extent that I put on weight it goes on my stomach first (apple shaped).
