Rectal bleeding help

Hi I am looking for advice to try and calm me down I can’t stop crying and thinking I won’t be around for my dc

for as long as I can remember I have had rectal bleeding on and off always bright red sometimes I go months then it happens again but goes away. Life is busy and by the time iv got round to worrying it’s stopped. This current episode has been happening since Tuesday and I’m in bits.

sometimes before a poo my stomach feels tight - thoight that was normal thoigh and goes away when I poo

im obese

I eat crap

the poo is fresh and not in the poo but when I look it’s always in one part of the toilet pan I think it’s either on the first or last but if that makes sense ? Pink when I wipe but bright red on toilet

t
since reading about it I think there might be a pressure - I think this started when I had a harder poo I recall it feeling sharp

my pops have mostly been solid until tiday when I took a Cambridge shake then 2 hours later was on the toilet with diorhea - recall this happened before on Cambridge

im so worried it’s cancer anyone else has this? Iv been an idiot in terms of not looking after my health

You should get medical advice from a doctor which I’m not but you eat crap and your stools are solid, there’s a good chance that you get anal fissures (little tears) on and off; blood from these tears is bright red.
Go and see your GP.

nannybeach · 01/10/2022 14:48

It could also be piles, but yes, lecture coming up,you are messing with your gut. Normally with bowel cancer, you loose weight, dark blood, sticky black and the poo. Often severe pain, feeling or actually being sick. But,we aren't doctors, you must go and see yours, even just to put your mind at rest. THEN, get the diet sorted, fibre,in the beginning,it might actually make you feel worse. We expect a progress report 😉

Tabitha888 · 01/10/2022 14:52

Been there, having investigations. Its not in your poo it's ok. It's just an anal fissure brought on by constipation and then having the runs. Plus you may have haemorrhoids. Its highly unlikely bowel cancer as your stool would be having the blood in them. Try the fod map diet and just eat better.

Boujisboo · 01/10/2022 15:01

Thank you for your replies I feel a bit better now. I’m so angry with myself for not looking after my health and keep thinking it’s gone too far this has started since I got bigger
I’m going to try then FODMAP diet and some fibre gel thank you

I’m just dreading the doctor keep putting it off because I don’t want to hear those words.

a few years ago I went for std tests as I usually do and got called in and told I was reactive to hiv test. They took more bloods and 24 hours was told the further tests were negative. Then had to wait 2 weeks for a more in depth test. I never forget how awful it was and since then I hate speaking to medical a and get such anxiety having tests

Also to add that blood tends to be much darker, like the appearance of dried blood, when it’s created by something happening internally and further up. Like others up thread have said it’s likely to be caused by constipation problems. But do see your doctor.

JustDanceAddict · 01/10/2022 15:11

Likely to be piles or fissure esp if constipation issues. Def go to GP though, blood of any sort shouldn’t be ignored.

Spidey66 · 01/10/2022 15:15

An anal fissure often causes pain when pooing.

It's easily treated but best diagnosed but once it's diagnosed you'll recognise it in the future.

I can understand why you feel anxious about medical tests. I've had a few cancer checks myself when I presented to my GP with symptoms and I well know the stress. But you need to put your mind at ease and you need to rule out more serious issues. See this as the start of really looking after yourself 🌷

crossstitchingnana · 01/10/2022 16:49

I reckon anal fissure but see your GP.

Please don’t just do the FODMAP diet, you MUST go and see a GP.

yes it might be a fissure, or a haemorrhoid and probably is, but it might not be and only way to rule it out is seeing the GP.

ive got a CT scan on Wednesday because I’ve had rectal bleeding, bloody diarrhoea had a colonoscopy last week and now need a CT scan.

please don’t mess about with bleeding - and don’t just listen to people on the internet, the only way to know is to see the GP

I was really hopeful for piles but didn’t have anything.
i still don’t know what mine is at the moment, but with any luck it’ll be just polyps - but just got to wait it out

Boujisboo · 01/10/2022 18:33

It’s such a horrible feeling not knowing. I’m really struggling with my mood at the moment.
iv used germaline today just in case. As some of the symptoms point to it (bright red blood on first part of poo but none in the rest of it, pink when I wipe and then a pressure feeling(‘g but equally could be something else.

i hope for you it is just something like poylps, have you had bloods done ?

It may be this, but it may not.

OP, you must seek proper medical advice rather than take a tip from a stranger on the internet and assume it's probably ok.

I have the doctor this morning I’m really scared As after improving all weekend it’s got worse again

Let us know how you get on

Corkina · 03/10/2022 07:30

Glad you have appointment. Just to add that o don't believe the dark blood theory. I thought I had haemorrhoids but had a 2cm polyp removed when I had my colonoscopy. I always only had bright blood. Mine would have turned to cancer and I was lucky as I wouldn't have been screened for years. Not trying to heighten your anxiety. Step by step, and it's great you are sorting your health. But I needed to say it also as that was my experience.

Wfhandbored · 03/10/2022 07:32

Good luck!

Same for me, bright red blood and had a huge polyp removed. See this as a positive OP, removing polyps is easy and then my symptoms improved overnight.

But you do need to get it sorted, so well done for seeing the GP.
