Dancing greens, feel the beet of the tangerine - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Morning

I think ds is doing my f&v portions for me... he is eating big chunks of cucumber like melon

I have been wondering how Boco's dd is, has anyone heard?

I would really love to come to a meet, especially a warm and cosy cafe one. I am not opposed to staying over if necessary (day trip to London not really do-able for us), BUT we do have quite a bit going on over the next few months so I am not sure how realistic a trip away will be for us. Hmmmm.... I would really want to come though. What day of the week do you have in mind?

ZippiBabes · 25/01/2008 18:14

they sound lovely..the other woman on my course was telling me there is reputedly a nice farm shop near college so maybe i shall investigate

FrannyandZooey · 25/01/2008 18:14

ds is singing "you've got s vulva, you've got a vulva"

in his defence he has had a wearing day. First he got bitten by a squirrel which drew blood, and then a bird pooed right in the middle of his head. Luckily he found the second wildly funny and said with marvellous mock outrage "First a squirrel bites me and then a bird poos on my head! What NEXT???!"

that was our last delivery from that farm. They are just growing now and not delivering I feel sad that local organic schemes seem to be getting swallowed by big national ones. Is it just locally this is happening?

i was talking about the same thing in horticulture today we visited a nursery so called yesterday and it was horrible sould estroying place

huge mechanised greenhouses

foreign cheap labour living in caravans

thousands and thousands of tryas of seedlings

abd a 7 million turnove annually from 70 employees

talk of selling via ba nd q and the supermarkets so the same thing really all the nice part of growing and nurturing and selling locally all gone in a drive down of prices by mass supermarket selling and choice gone out of the window

it was depressing it looked such an awful place to work with the nearest other person about 10 yards away and nothing to look at except plastic and a macine

FrannyandZooey · 25/01/2008 18:22

That's crappy

did the books turn up btw? am hoping some people got parcels

Sorry to butt in - but are you making these thread titles up yourselves? They are truly fantastic!

FrannyandZooey · 25/01/2008 18:33

We did used to make them up ourselves, but found it a bit tiring, so now we club together and hire a title writer

OP posts:
ZippiBabes · 25/01/2008 18:40

franny is ultimate arbiter of f and v

I promise to try harder...

ZippiBabes · 25/01/2008 18:46

MrsCarrot · 25/01/2008 18:49

Fish and chips, five malted milks and a glass of prosseco. I did have an organic leaf garnish.

FrannyandZooey · 25/01/2008 18:54

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 25/01/2008 18:58
