For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

OneBat you're a vegger now aren't you! I like a nice fresh vegger.

onebatmother · 17/01/2008 22:29

yes Boco, it seems so. But it's like a mediaeval marriage, we both get a cool-off period where we can send each other back to the shop.

May i post revised tally?
strike wussy 'veg lasagne', replace 'veg stir-fry containing export tonnage of fertile mediterranean country'.
My guts tell me I've hit 10.

Boco · 17/01/2008 22:36

Wow, you fast learner grasshopper!

Cappuccino · 17/01/2008 22:47

onebat were you previously called something else?

onebatmother · 17/01/2008 22:51

Noo! (Well was onebadmother before halloween but barely posted then.)

people keep asking me and am slightly worried that I share verbel tics with a psychopath.

onebatmother · 17/01/2008 22:51

verbel is interesting, but verbal is more accurate.

ZippiBabes · 17/01/2008 22:53

nobody ever asked me if i was someone else

ahundredtimes · 17/01/2008 22:54

[nostalgic sigh] Does everyone keep asking you who you are OBM?

I am talking spaniels with a charming lady on another thread. I have accused her dog of being squidgy but apparently I had the wrong sort of spaniel.

Is very exhausting.

Also some people say yes spaniel, and then other people say no spaniel, they are insane and so Who Do You Believe?

BBBee · 17/01/2008 23:07

oh 100 I have missed news - this means the dog thing is happening or are you just doing a talking thing?

Boco - I love thatb you haven't done your tax return - it means I am a bit like you. I am crap at this kind of thing. I am crap at business and money. I think the whole northern rock thing might be my fault - it is probably because I did my mortgage thing wrong.

It is strnage flitting in and out of 10/10 - there are new 10/10ers and they are doing better than me.

I have just seen an advert beans that are in a kind of yoghurt pot adn you heeat them in the microwave.

It repulses me.

Tell me funnyn things your children have done.

DD (5yrs) has renamed her 'boyfriend' from 'jonathon' to 'johnny - fun'

Am reading DS alice through the looking glass - we are laughing until we cry. it really is very good.

I have had a packet of revels.

ahundredtimes · 17/01/2008 23:13

It is under discussion, we will see, if you keep asking me the answer is NO, we need to think carefully about it and YES OKAY IF WE DO GET A DOG WE WILL GET ONE THAT SWIMS.

There. That's how it is.

How are you BBee? Tell me all about your course and your eyebrows.

3andnomore has been accepted on her OT uni course. You and her could open a clinic together. I'll bring ds2, we'll all have a scream.

ahundredtimes · 17/01/2008 23:16

Oh BBee you came and now you've gone. And I must go to bed.

onebatmother · 17/01/2008 23:37

It's Goodnight from me and goodnight from my lower intestine.

BBBee · 17/01/2008 23:38

oh now i am back and you have gone. cat was climbing into the washing machine and I got him out and had loads of panic fantasies about washing him.

Pets you see - lots of trouble.

I like the idea of a swimming dog - we used to have a dog and my dad threw sticks in the sea and the dog swam out to get them. It was good.

Boco - let's aim to do our tax returns by say Monday?

Do you have your code?

BBBee · 17/01/2008 23:42

zippi tell me about climbing man

franny tell me about fluttering bump

carrot and PSW tell me about running (not bacon)

toot - have sweden catalogue and thinking about you in a youth hostel

tatties, fmv, womble and onebat and all other lovelies tell me wonderful things.

OverRated · 17/01/2008 23:57

My dog was scared of water. He was a border collie and was scared of sheep too and toilet roll tubes. And people on bikes. And window cleaners. And people carrying chairs. But he was lovely and quite clever in other ways.

Celementine, raisins, spinach, peas, tomatoes, pear & strawberry smoothie and am about to have an apple. So, probably not 10 today but more than 5. Am listening to Woman's Hour Podcast about fish. It's making me hungry. And I don't really eat fish.

A friend is pestering me to go running

FrannyandZooey · 18/01/2008 08:12

Onebat you are doing well, we may do some frightening things with woad to you later

Boco do you really want it? Or are you just being kind?

Bee I haven't noticed it much since - I think I have to be lying down quietly in the right position not doing anything, and not talking, and that does not happen very often.

I have eaten 2 satsumas, banana, raisins, apple and grapes. 5. Not bad for 8 o' clock in the morning.

Spaniels are a bit silly, aren't they? Maybe that is the appeal, I don't know.

OP posts:
Cappuccino · 18/01/2008 09:07

awww, I have lovely pictures of my children painted in woad when we went here last year when on hol in Wales

has anyone ever been? it is fantastic - and I hate history, it bores the feet off me

I need to buy a blender to replace my broken one; I have a load of frozen fruit and no way to eat it

pinkspottywellies · 18/01/2008 09:21

3 portions so far this morning! My best this week I think!

BBB, what do you want to know about running? This thread is where I have found out all I know! I am a total amatuer but using the couch to 5K podcast I'm getting there. I didn't think I'd manage it the first time - I told dh the podcast's half an hour but I might be back sooner! I've now finished the second week! It builds up really gently. Go for it and enter something like the race for Life to give you a goal.

Haven't got time to read everything - is there anything I need to know?! I need to get off my backside and pack and get ready to go to Norwich!!! I'm soo excited Just waiting for the garage to call so I can get my car back I was gobsmacked yesterday when the man rang and said it had passed it's MOT with no work (it needed some work doing anyway but we thought the MOT would add to it!)

TigerFeet · 18/01/2008 09:29

Ooooh Franny has the bump been fluttering? [excited]

Don't spaniels spend half the day humping the nearest available leg?

Two apples and a banana so far today. Impressive Home Made Winter Vegetable Soup for lunch. Stir Fry for tea. [virtuous]

I wanna go to a hut and paint dd in woad but I can't because I am at work and anyway it's raining and it's all a bit to lentil weavery for dh [wails]

TigerFeet · 18/01/2008 09:30

a bit too lentil weavery [sigh]

Boco · 18/01/2008 11:29

Aren't spaniels really thick? I thought they were. I knew one once had he was incredibly stupid, he just bounced and bounced and bounced. Get something clever - swimming isn't everything, you need them to be able to decide which way to swim. Get a nice mongrel - a collie cross - they can follow instructions, like, don't hump that.

Bee not got my code yet so can't do return. It's making me feel slightly sick.

Pink have fun in Norwich. It's A Fine City. Or so it says on the sign.

Franny, i'm totally serious about being ready for the document, yes please, i told dp about it last night and he was very interested.

Going swimming now bye.

TooTicky · 18/01/2008 12:31

Tomato, chickpea, apricot and almond casserole thingummy with hint of kale, and millet.

ahundredtimes · 18/01/2008 12:40

Well the general feeling is that all dogs are a bit mental, but spaniels are intelligent, can swim, do tricks, are submissive, very companionable, get lonely, need exercise, make terrible guard dogs.

I don't want a collie, or collie cross, they are too big. ditto a lab.

I have ordered a book. I am going to talk to the vet. God, perhaps we really are going to do this?

Have eaten rocket, banana, tomatoe, avacado, apple so far today.
