For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

sorry avi, shall i delete? Just report my post if you want. Well it is very exciting. Can we discuss HER or not until we know one way or the other? I am imagining she must be, er, quite unusual?

OverRated here is the veg crumble topping:

4 oz plain flour
2 oz porridge oats
2 oz butter
1 oz seeds
1 oz flaked almonds or peanuts (I leave out)
4 tbsp chopped parsley (ditto)
Mix flour and oats, rub in butter, stir in remaining ingredients. You can put this on any saucy vegetably mixture, but the one from the recipe is below:

to make the veg mixture, steam lots of root veg (or any other veg you have lying around) until just tender, drain and reserve some of cooking water. Fry an onion, make a white sauce by stirring in flour and cooking for 2 mins, then stir in milk and reserved water and bring to boil. Add bay leaf and seasoning (bit of stock cube if liked) and simmer for 5 mins. Put veg in a dish, pour over sauce minus bay leaf. Top with the crumble and cook at 200 / gm 6 for about 30 - 40 mins. This recipe doesn't make an exactly exciting meal but I find it very comforting and stodgy. You could add cheese or spices to make it more of a strong flavour, but if you use some interesting veg (eg swede, turnip, celeriac) along with the basics it works well.

I liked the LOTR films, the second one came on at the cinema after I'd had a dark 6 months of insomnia/anxiety/pnd and I breathed a sigh of relief, complete and utter escapism. I went twice. Never read the books though and I didnt like the third one as much but I think the music and all the lovely NZ scenery and the sheer fantasy was just what I needed. I don't think the films are a boy thing either, I know just as many girls who loved them and men who didn't. Maybe the books are more so.

Boco - I haven't been to the new cinema city yet, in fact I haven't been at all for ages, but yes, I prefer that as a venue. I liked the rickety old place though, I was horrified when they said they were going to make it a multi screen. Have you heard about the puppet theatre? The arts council cuts will mean that it has to close. It's one of two dedicated puppet theatres in the whole country. It would be a tragedy to lose it. I used to take DD a lot but we haven't been in the last year though she went to a chinese dragon making workshop yesterday for a birthday.

morning all

have the period pain from hell (take heart franny - you are spared this).

Really good wall chart of greek myth monsters in today observer - ds is all squealy - which is nice - happens less and less with the progression of years.

I am going to listen to last nights russell brand and make my mum a birthday cake.

Oh my sister had a friend on aforementioned and it was really nice - but IMO he was the only contestant ever to come out pretty unscathed.

I have asked DH if we can go out for lunch and we are, and then going for a walk round a nearby village / sprawl which has a woodland trust in teh middle of it, we haven;t done it yet.

BBBee PP is teh worst. I have endometriosis but no symptoms at present, so have much sympathy. Hope the pianklillers are doing their job.

Avi, how exciting, I think...more about having your g-nephew to stay than anything else!

F&Z hope parents visit goes OK...whenever it is.

at Cinema City. WE have no independent ciemas round here. I used to go to the Duke of York's in Brighton which was great in it's day, think it's still going.

I have really lost track of films in the past few years, and feel I will never catch up again.

FrannyandZooey · 20/01/2008 11:25

FrannyandZooey · 20/01/2008 11:36

yes how fab those films were. The ones I have no recollection of whatsoever

there were some people on acid at the back one time when I went, who kept predictably squealing and howling and stuff. and instead of finding it annoying, it added to the film

now I would probably call the manager
